CEDAR POINT FARM

Why The Owner chose Rileyville

Local people often book this home as a true "find" in this area. It is quiet and has one of the nicest river spots to relax on the Shenandoah for a quick dip, fishing or just relaxing. Come see why folks who know the area, return year after year.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Loved the place! Beautiful views of the mountains and peaceful fields. Quiet and secluded. House was better than pictures! My girlfriend and I went together and this place was just huge! Would very comfortably accommodate much larger parties. Close enough to Luray for groceries. Loved the walk down to the Riverside clearing and campfire area. Spent a lot of time fishing so we enjoyed the private river access. Big rock ledges run straight into river from access point and make a killer small mouth spot approx 1/4 to 3/4 across river about 20 ft upstream from bank. Wade up and out along ledge. WIFI and Satellite TV were great. Relaxed enjoying wine in the hot tub while soaking in views. What more could you ask for!?

Ok but dirty

  • 1 of 5

First, once you turn off the main road to the right, just take your first left and go to the end of the road. We were allowed early access by an hour or so, which was gracious. It was very cold inside , so we lit the fireplace in the L/R because there were no instructions as far as heat otherwise. We did see heaters in each bedroom and figured that out. A couple hours later the owner showed up with a comforter and admonished us for smoking on the porch. Granted, we had the B/R door open that led to the porch so we could charge bluetooth, and we closed that when she mentioned it. We had not thought about it in the wide open space, but ok. The owner went on and on about smoke in her house and that she was going to post no smoking signs all over the porch so no one can smoke there anymore. That should not have been an issue since smoking outside was ok according to the listing. We were all made to feel uncomfortable immediatly. As I walked inside with her she asked me why I had the L/R fireplace on while we were outside. I told her because it was freezing inside. She immediatly turned the fireplace off, told me it was ornamental only and tried to start a heater in the kitchen. That never worked, although she did try to get someone out. I saw her turn the fireplace back on and then off again before she left. I had to sleep in the L/R on the futon and it was really cold. The place is also dirty. The toilet may be clean, because it's up to you to clean it and everything else, but when there is bird**** on the inside of the windows, that's just nasty. Old fake plants with layers of dust, filthy windows and doors, scum on dishes and glasses. Great views of the mountains, can't really see the river, but easy walk. You can make do anywhere, but for the money, I'd rather spend the extra and not be cheaped out.

Beautiful start to fall.

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay. The view was amazing, and for the first time ever we felt comfortable letting our city dogs run off their leashes. It was a cozy, rainy mini-break.

Great farmhouse between Luray & Front Royal

  • 5 of 5

This Rileyville location put us right in the middle between Luray and Front Royal and felt like we had the property all to ourselves even though there is another cabin rental on site but not within view. There is a view to river and after crossing the field below the cabin we had private riverfront access. The house is older but updated and we really enjoyed sitting on the screened in porch overlooking the property. Early morning was spent watching the deer's work their way thru the field up to the tree line. One young deer even stomped at me letting me know I was on his/her turf. Although we didn't meet the owner all communication with her went w/o problems. Don't expect cell service but that's part of the experience of being remote. All activities very close by. Great Stay.

Great Location and Beautiful Views

  • 5 of 5

The house was a clean upon arrival and had everything you need to feel at home. Nina was quick to respond to questions and checked in once to during the week to be sure all was good. The house was much larger than it appears in pictures. There was plenty of room for our family of 5 and dog to spread out in the large kitchen, living room and den. Porch was a wonderful place to sit and enjoy the mountain view and wildlife. Hot tub was a great addition after a day out exploring. River access is good for fishing, kayaking, or just floating around.

House is very close to the attractions in Luray and to all the outdoor activities in Shenandoah National Park and the valley. We would definitely recommend it and look forward to coming back.

Awesome location

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed a relaxing weekend in luray! The house had everything we needed and the river was so close. We went to town for a few meals and went to the national forest for a hike. The property feels secluded but still is only a 10 min drive to town. We hope to return soon!
