Great pet friendly place!
Everything was perfect for our 10- day stay! Highly recommend this place.
We arrived late Saturday night and the home was clean and inviting. We brought our own food but there were things there for us to use. It was nice to sit at night and hear the cows and goats and the crickets, cicadas and basically the sounds of night and nature. At night you may find a wee bit hard to find with your gps. So Ill give you the hint when you come to the fork in the road bare right on the dirt road you will see it on the left. Inside the home the rooms are on opposite sides which give the couples some privacy. I would have like to have a tv in my bedroom but because we were there for only 4 days and you have use of the wifi was easy enough to start a movie to watch from my laptop. Definately would stay again.
I’m so happy you enjoyed your stay.
I appreciate your suggestion and will add a TV in the 2nd bedroom.
You and your sister are very welcome at my home should your travels bring you to the area again.
Upon arrival the property was clean and looked inviting and peaceful
Upon arrival I had to wash and change the bed covers because the beds were filled with pet hair and stains. The pillows had to be removed from the casing because they were not usable. We had to go at 2 am in the morning to get pillows.
We thought that when we stayed at a vacation home it would be private and peaceful. The yard is nice and we chose this property because of the back yard for our three pups. Well this dis not work because we noticed that there were 2 goats attached to the back yard. Let me tell you, that was not peaceful. Every time we let the dogs out they barked and the goats would charge at them. The back yard is not adequate for small dogs. The fence has multiple opening in it. I had to carry old logs and boards to try and confine my dogs. I could not enjoy the yard at all and most of all my dogs didn't get any play time.
The owner is very nice but every morning and afternoon when we opened the doors to let our dogs go out he was actually in the yard watering the garden and feeding the goats. No privacy at all. I am not talking about once and awhile. EVERDAY HE IS THERE. He even came over to cut his grass and do yard work.
If you need to take a shower or drink some water this is not the place for your vacation. The water has an odor of sulfur and I had to buy bottled water to give my pets. An added cost. We couldn't drink any water from this property.
Again the owner is a very nice man but I don't think he needs to rent this home out as a vacation rental. I will find a motel that takes pets in the fall when I return.
So if you don't mind a guest invading your privacy everyday and barking dogs and goats, then have a great vacation. If you want to relax and enjoy some quite time I would reconsider this property..
Thank you so much for your recent stay at my property. I enjoyed having you all and appreciate your feedback. I’ve received consistently positive reviews from my guests who have booked directly and on the rental websites so am very concerned by your comments.
On the second day of your thirteen day visit, I was alarmed to hear about your situation with the master bedroom sheets. If I had been contacted i would have responded immediately and put fresh sheets on the bed. You told me that the guest room bedding was fine, and I know it was, but your review states it too needed changing? As you mention in your review, the property undergoes a stringent housekeeping by a third party before any guest arrivals with fresh linens on the cleaning checklist. Because of this, cleanliness has never been a prior issue but it is a top priority for me and I’m always eager to hear about anything less than a superior experience.
The rental is, as advertised, a country property which means that during stays close to two weeks, especially ones like yours that are extended during the course of your visit, there will be a need for groundskeeping. As I did during your stay, I try to do this work when my guests are away from the property. I do access the grounds for a few minutes each day to feed my little goats but this also I endeavor to do when my guests are away from the property. I never enter the house when guests are staying there unless I’ve been informed that there is an urgent maintenance need and the guest is present.
In my listing rules I state a maximum occupancy of 4 adults and request to be notified if a guest is bringing more than one dog. Several days during your stay there were 3 vehicles, at least five adults, and the three dogs at the property. Due to the circumstances of your group’s visit (to repair your sister’s home) I didn’t say anything about this.
I’ve been fortunate to share my home with more than 10 rentals in the past several months, several for long stays like yours, who have enjoyed using the yard for their pet and, more recently, getting to meet the little goats, Clementine and Butterfly, in their contained pen by the property.
It sounds like you will come back to Paducah another time and wherever you decide to stay I hope it is a pleasant visit for you!
