Cottage, 3 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 6)
Why Carol MacLellan chose Cape Traverse
Located on the south facing side of a point in Augustine Cove overlooking the Northumberland Strait. The beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the ocean. We love to watch the sunrise and the sunset - all from various rooms in the cottage. Quiet country road allows for a quick walk at sunrise or sunset to take in the views from around the point.

Lovely cottage in beautiful Augustine Cove
My husband, daughter (5 yo) and I enjoyed a wonderful 8 day stay at Cove House. The advertisement for the cottage was accurate; everything that was promised was there and functional. The location is fantastic! Right on the ocean with a staircase down to the water. Low tide presented opportunity for some great beach combing, and the water was warm enough for swimming (we were there in early August). The whole area was very quiet and peaceful, and we were visited by a fox on two occasions and saw some seals swimming off shore. The cottage was very comfortable, and the washer and dryer were greatly appreciated as our 5 year old embraced the ocean (literally and figuratively!) with great enthusiasm. Access to groceries was reasonable with Summerside a 20 minute drive away and a closer convenience store for essentials. The cottage owner (Carol) was very accessible and we were reassured to know that we could contact her at any time with questions.
The location was great for small children. There are extensive sandbars located a short walk away in either direction, and the coast immediately in front of the cottage was mixed sand and rock with a great variety of shells and sand dollars to collect, and crabs, sea stars and fish to observe. At low tide you can walk out a long way before the water gets deep. The fact that the cottage is located on the Northumberland Strait side of the island means you don't have to worry about rip currents either (as we were told by a local). The access road to the cottage was not terribly busy and there is a nice large yard to play in (we took advantage of a breezy day and flew a kite in the yard).
All in all, we would recommend this cottage whole-heartedly, whether your family includes young children or not. Our daughter even cried when it was time to leave, and we had to assure her we would return next summer!
We had a lovely time staying at this cottage. The interior was very functional. We loved the screen porch. The views from the cottage were exceptional.Ocean as far as the eye can see. This is a sunrise cottage and if you’re an early riser it’s spectacular . There is an aluminum stair to reach the water. It’s rocky on the shore so makes for good beach combing. A few minutes walk will take you to two different red sand beaches. They are beautiful and when the tide goes out you can walk for miles and we did! Our dog loved “fishing “ in the tide pools and discovered clams that he could dig up.This cottage is nicely located only about 20 minutes from the bridge so you can unpack and relax that much sooner! It’s close to Victoria which has a wonderful theatre where the plays are excellent. Add in the chocolate shop and restaurants and you’ll be happy you’re so close. A five minute drive away is the By the Roadside Gallery and Cafe open Thurs. through Sunday. It’s run by a lovely couple who are artists as well as chefs. Delicious! I could go on and on about Augustine Cove and this lovely cottage and we plan to return next year.
Thanks for a lovely time,
Pam, Harold and Jasper
Wonderful family vacation
We loved the location and being on the water
The property was so comfortable and welcoming. Location was quiet and peaceful with amazing views. We had a great time. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. We felt right at home. We would definitely return!
This was my first trip to PEI and this cottage was exactly what I was looking for. Clean, comfortable, quiet with absolutely gorgeous views. In the morning, the sun poured in through the large windows. The cottage is well equipped and even has a large flat screen tv with Netflix! There was a nice deck off the master bedroom; perfect for your morning coffee. Nearby towns with shops are about a 15 min drive. If you are a runner, there is a private gravel road to run around...with awesome views of the bridge and the ocean! Absolute heaven! I will be back!
What a beautiful island!
The cottage was very nice. Lots of windows to view the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. The cottage was clean, comfortable, and had grand vistas! There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't provided.
We ventured out quite a bit. We chatted with a nice couple who own "By The Road Side Gallery and Cafe" right down the road. Great food there. Nice chowder, pastries and sandwiches.
Victoria by the Sea is a must also. There is a little pottery shop there as well as a wonderful chocolate shop that has delicous chocolates and coffee.
We are located 15 minutes from Victoria by the Sea. The cottage is loacted in a small quaint community of Summer Homes - very private and quiet. There are miles of beach steps from the front door when the tide is out.
