The House of Peace and Love is a 5,000 sq ft private estate at the base of the Sandia Mountains in the Beverly Hills of Albuquerque. This is the perfect place to relax, renew, rejuvenate, and create new memories. The house has five uniquely decorated private rooms and two large common areas with a flat screen TV & pool table. We rent individual rooms as a bed and coffee, but can rent the entire property for large groups. We comfortably sleep up to 25 people. Our guests have come together to celebrate the big O Birthdays (40,50,60, 70, 80.), family reunions, weddings, and gatherings for grieving the loss of a loved one. The kitchen is fully stocked, and all private rooms have small individual refrigerators and microwaves. Bedding and towels are provided.
The house has four lovely gardens with fountains, hammocks, hot tub, and mediation areas. There is outdoor dining and seating for 20, with an outdoor kitchen/BBQ area. In the spring, roses and sunflowers bloom with grape arbors and wild flowers. We are close to Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Wal-Mart and Smiths for shopping. There is laundry, off-street parking, and additional refrigerators for food storage. We also have children's toys, videos, and books available.
This is a great temporary housing situation if you are tired of staying in hotels with kitchenettes and like to cook and relax. Many film support crews as well as the cast have had long term stays. Traveling doctors, nurses, athletes in training, and business executives have all enjoyed their long term stays here.
You will have fun, feel comfortable, meet interesting people, and thoroughly enjoy your stay. It is guests' responsibility to read the terms and conditions prior to booking.
Your host is nationally acclaimed author and artist Dr. Suzanne Lopez.
Dr. Suzanne Lopez purchased this estate in 2006
Experience a "night at the museum" in my beautiful home filled with international art in Mexican, Balinese, Indian, and Chinese styles.
I am writing this in regards to my stay at Casa Paz Y Amour, located at 9100 Luna Del Oro Albuquerque, NM 87111. I booked my stay for July 14 to July 26, 2013 and I’ve truly enjoyed it here. The house is spacious with many different patios for all to enjoy. All the rooms have plenty of space to relax and sleep comfortably. The host, Dr. Lopez is very friendly, gracious and accommodating. She truly makes one feel welcomed. The backyard has several different seating; relaxing arrangements from hammocks to a Jacuzzi. The trees also provide shade if one wants to sit on the grass. The house is a true gem with beautiful architecture and artwork. It’s definitely a great place to stay in Albuquerque.
Suzanne's friend and professional fire fighter emeritus entertained our pyromaniac son with all sorts of questions about fire, flame, heat... the house is labyrinthine but definitely bohemian and full of love. Felt trusted by the hostess like old friends - how can you beat that! Location to the ABQ side of Sandia Peak is very convenient! Definitely recommend this property!
Casa la Paz was the most interesting home we have ever stayed in. The art work the furniture the intimate spaces the hot tub the warm and gracious hostess made for a relaxing comfortable stay
Our five days were wonderful, a relaxing combination of sight seeing and conversations in the evening in the warm and comfortable living room. We would recommend this well furnished convenient residence to everyone seeking to really experience the "Land of Enchantment".
The Casa de Paz y Amor was the perfect home to host our large group for my 30th birthday celebration during the Balloon Festival. Dr. Lopez and her assistant Brittany were helpful months in advance to make sure we had the home to ourselves and that we would know how to take advantage of the area and the festival. Both had great restaurant recommendations and made us feel at home in ABQ. The home is only a 5 min drive from the festival shuttle and a few minutes (some of my friends even walked when needed) to grocery stores, restaurants and shopping. Our favorite area was the beautifully and eclectically decorated outdoors where we grilled, all ate together, and were able to play games and catch up in the vibrant outdoor gathering spaces. The home has Dr. Lopez's personal creative art, memorabilia from all over the world and warm southwestern charm. From the pool table, to the hot tub to lounging in hammocks to a fully set kitchen with pots and pans to having a clean, comfortable bed for each guest---the home was just what we needed for a relaxing weekend getaway. Perfect balance between large group gathering spaces and private nooks for the introverts to recharge. Dr. Lopez's assistant, Alicia stayed with us the entire weekend taking care of trash and helping us navigate the home. She was great about giving us our private space and we enjoyed having her for our game night. I would be careful with small children with all the art (we did not have any with us) and beautiful decorations. Thank you, Dr. Lopez for a great weekend and for opening your home to us! We will be back.
I had arranged to rent the entire house and filled each room with family and friends so that we can stay together without the worry of strangers since some of us had little ones. I did just that however we didn't pay for the living room and when guest had to move from the converted garage due to cooling and electricity issues to sleep in the living room we were reprimanded and said we did not pay for the living room so no one could sleep there. (that was a little unsettling for me since I had arranged for the entire house-no one else was going to sleep there and considering the circumstances it should not have been an issue) The cleanliness of the house was not up to our standards but with a house of this size and there being something literally everywhere it would be hard to keep clean. The "casita" was a disappointment to say the least. It just was hard to enjoy ourselves with the home owner/manager living on site walking through the premises what seemed to me looking for something to point out to us that was not "right". We had guest feel so uncomfortable they left and stayed someplace else the second night. The pictures are not accurate and there are tons of "art" all over the place and by "art" I mean religious pagan idols. All in all we would not stay here again. I am so disappointed in this rental coming off an amazing experience this summer from another vacation rental.
The House of Peace and Love truly lives up to its name. Suzanne is a remarkable woman and make you feel absolutely welcome and cared for. The entire place evokes warm, southwestern hospitality - and spirituality, sophisticated yet so comfortable. Plus the surrounding locale is truly lovely as well, striking and magnificent. My only regret is not staying twice as long!
