We enjoyed our stay at this cozy cabin. The living area was inviting and conveniently located, as it is close to the kitchen. The living room and screen porch are very comfortable. The ammenities were as described, with the exception of the hot tub (it was not working). We loved having the washer/dryer to keep our packing lighter! We, also, had temperatures in the 80s & 90s and having air conditioners in each bedroom was wonderful! Our dog frolicked in the yard and the neighborhood is quiet great for taking any dog for walks. We walked to town a few times and the walk is reasonable for anyone who enjoys a 10-15 minute walk. We appreciated the beach chairs and towels for our beach days.
my husband & i along with our dog enjoyed ourselves immensely this past weekend, so much so that we're looking toward another stay either in late summer or early fall.
the house was well maintained and spotlessly clean upon our arrival. all of the furniture seemed newer and was very comfortable, the decor was beachy without being tacky or touristy (someone has a nice eye for color!) the living area was a bit on the small side but if you're doinga beach vacation you shouldn't be indoors anyway. there is a hot tub on the property, we didn't use it. there are neighbors fairly close by to either side but neither home was occupied when we were there so it was very quiet!
our favorite part of the house was the deck off the master bedroom. there's a small table and chairs out there, perfect for coffee or cocktails!
there is a dog park nearby and town is a sort walk away and ogunquit is very dog friendly so Sammy was welcome nearly everywhere we went. we opted to bring food in so as to not leave sammy alone. we felt as comfortable as we are at home!
thanks john for sharing your place, it was great!
My husband & I found this lovely little house 5 years ago, and every year we return, we feel like we are "coming home" when we pull into the driveway. In 2014, I developed a problem with my balance, and when we came to Ogunquit, I had a tough time with the stairs in the front and the back. When I mentioned this to John, the owner, he generously offered to install handrails on both sets of stairs . I was speechless! Having such a nice place to stay, with such accommodating owners is just wonderful. I would recommend this house to everybody
My husband and I have been renting this home for over 5 years, and we have always had a lovely stay, The house is always clean and bright when we arrive, and the property is meticulously maintained. We love that the house is on a quiet street yet close to all the shops and restaurants. Last year I developed a serious problem with my balance, and when we rented the house I had a hard time with the steps going in & out of the house. When I mentioned this to John, much to my surprise and delight, he told me that he would install railings on both the front AND back steps on the house before my family arrived in September. Words cannot express my gratitude to John for this kind and generous act. I would highly recommend this home and my husband, my dogs and I look forward to many happy returns
I felt totally at home and comfortable in this adorable cottage from the minute I walked in. It's in a great neighborhood and convenient to downtown Ogunquit and the beautiful beach. Comfortably accommodates six overnight with room to entertain a few more during the day or evening. We hated to pack our car and pull away!
We chose to stay in this rental after reading all the fantastic reviews. I will start by saying that John was very attentive with emailing me and getting all the details squared away for our stay (he even brought his own pots and pans to be sure that we had all we needed to be able to cook during our stay). The house is cute and the lot it is on is cute too. We liked that it seemed remote, yet was very close to town.
The not so great part...My heart sank when we walked in the home on our check in date. It was incredibly hot (due to it being unseasonably warm) but there was an awful STRONG odor of urine immediately upon opening the front door. We figured out that it was the downstairs bathroom and ended up having to leave the door shut, window open and the fan running 24/7 for the entire visit. We even bought baking soda and an air freshener, which barely made a difference. Also, the house did not seem to have been properly cleaned. The room with the twin beds had huge dust bunnies behind the entry door and long dark hair from the previous tenant all over the floor. I was disappointed and did call John to make him aware of the situation. He seemed slightly bothered, almost offended that I asked if the home had been cleaned. He did, however, offer to re-clean for us...but, honestly, I felt as though it should have been done before we arrived.
I agree with a previous reviewer; the beds were unbelievably creaky in both bedrooms downstairs, the couches were in rough shape (which it appears they may have been replaced based on the photos online) and the downstairs area was moist. I noticed that there was mold/moisture damage to the drywall around the lower portion of tub in the downstairs bathroom. Also, the downstairs tub drained very slowly.
With a little updating, repair and a more thorough cleaning crew this home could be a great place to stay. I doubt that I would choose to stay here again unless I knew those changes had been made. I do hope that things can turn around and the new owner does well with making this property a success.
Short walk to town center, beaches, trolley, restaurants, movie theater and shopping as well as two museums in Town. Next Town over has a amusement park in York and the only outside bowling alley!
Personal or bank check.
