Welcome to King's Cove --- a quaint, spacious lake house located on Little Kowaliga Creek on beautiful Lake Martin. Four bedrooms, along with the sleeping loft, accommodate a large group of up to 16. Three full baths are located on the main level near the 4 bedrooms and a 1/2 bath is located in the loft. The bedrooms offer ceiling fans. Two offer queen beds, the third offers a double bed and the fourth offers two sets of bunks. The opened loft offers two double beds and two twin beds. (See below, 'bedrooms' under amenities, for exact set-up/location of beds.) The spacious great room area with beautiful views of the water from all areas includes a stone fireplace, two sofas and one recliner. Ceiling fans have been recently added to this area for added comfort. This area opens into the kitchen and dining area. The kitchen offers a large food preparation island and bar stools perfect for enjoying a snack. A dining area with a farm table comfortably seats eight - an additional table for four nearby providing extra space for dining or playing board games. The combined dining areas can easily seat 16 and are great for holidays. The beautiful porch offers seating for outdoor dining or enjoying that early morning cup of coffee on the comfortable outdoor wicker furniture or at the teak dining table. All floors and walls throughout the house are pine.
Outdoors, you have 265 feet of private waterfront that wraps around into a cove, a water-side patio, and private boat ramp. The water-side patio is great for fall evenings. The swimming area is located between the water-side patio and the pier/floating dock area. For parent's comfort, swimming children can be easily monitored from the front porch, water-side patio, and pier area. The lawn is gently sloping and is a perfect place for children (and adults) to run and play. Younger children may enjoy the shallow water and the 'beach area' located in the cove
During the fall and winter months, King's Cove is perfect for football weekends and family holidays. The beautiful stone fireplace makes a great setting for warming up after a day at the game or enjoying hot chocolate with family and friends for a holiday.

Lake Martin is a beautiful place - the water is so clear - and it is close to our home.
We love everything about our lake house - the lot, the location, coffee on the porch in the mornings.
We were the first guest to rent "King's Cove" after the current owners completed their renovations. Our children and grandchildren think of this home as "Our Home, Away From Home". We are so thankful for the many pesonal touches that make this home a special get away for our family. Each year we return to find upgrades, new ammenities, and pesonal touches that make our stay more enjoyable and memorable. We have grown to love and appreciate all the owners do to make our time in their home such a wonderful experience. King's Cove is all about FAMILY, where life begins and love never ends!
Don't expect the usual vacation rental house at King's Cove. Expect to feel like a guest. It is as if we were in my sister's home. No corners are cut for the renters. There are plenty of towels, comfortable bed linens, and bathroom tissue! :) Things like hand soap and paper products were the type I use at my house not the cheap things one usually sees in the typical beach or lake rental. The kitchen was well equipped, once again, with quality items, and the decor is an eclectic mixture of well loved treasures and comfortable furnishings. There is ample seating in the living area and both eating areas so that all the group can be together in the same space. The mix of beds worked out well for our multi-generational group and though we did not use the loft space, it is huge and perfect for older children to sleep and play. Outside, the porches are one of the best features of the property and have plenty of chairs and ceiling fans. We loved the furnished stone patio near the water and the sunshade on the dock. It is also nice to find a home with space to park several cars and a grassy lawn that is level enough to set-up yard games and big enough for the littles to run and play without fear of them falling into the lake. King's Cove is large enough for our extended family but cozy enough that I could (and might!) come back alone and not feel lost. There is not one thing about this lovely home that was not absolutely delightful!
The house was great and the people that own it are greater. We had the best vacation ever. The personal touches that they have added make it a home. Hopefully the house will be available next year. We have already decided that is where we want to stay.
When searching for a location for our Labor Day family gathering I stumbled across this listing on VRBO. What caught my eye was one of the photos of the property on the website, the one looking out the double doors towards the patio by the water, with the lake in the back ground. The photo does not lie, it hasn't been altered, it reveals the exact view you will wake up to every morning! The property is beautiful and extremely well maintained. We had such a wonderful stay, my sisters and I were already planning our return trip on the first day we arrived. We loved making dinner together in the awesome kitchen and then gathering the whole family around the farm table for good food and story telling; followed by fun on the lake and time on the wonderful porch enjoying the view and the fresh air. If you need a recharge for your body and soul this is the place to do it!
We rented Kings Cove for a long weekend Nov 2-5 and could not have been more delighted with this property AND the owners! Audra was so helpful with all of the details leading up to our stay and when I sent an email after we first arrived that I might have trouble resetting the alarm upon departure, her husband called to walk me through everything. Of course, the trouble shooting only took 2 minutes (frankly it was user error) but we talked for over 15 minutes. You felt like you were staying in a friends house. The cottage is deceptively large from the outside and perfect for simply relaxing with views of water from three sides. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor spces to hang out in and the kitchen was perfect for preparing meals while still being a part of the fun. We hope to be back soon. Thank you for an incredibly relaxing weekend.
This is the perfect get-a-way… beautiful lake views just a short drive from Birmingham. Our family gathered for a wonderful weekend after celebrating the big Auburn victory at Toomer’s corner. It was a nice drive from Auburn (set your GPS!) down back country roads. We woke to a misty morning fog on the lake.
The ‘cabin’ is very large and could sleep 16 easily, with bunk beds and a crazy climb to the loft. The rooms were all so unique and decorated with a collection of shabby chic and B&B comfort. The open kitchen is well equipped for any meal, with a gas range and updated appliances. We grilled steaks outside, as we enjoyed the fabulous sunset.
We really appreciated the well stocked woodshed and kept a fire roaring all weekend. We played dominos at the game table while the guys kept up with the football scores on the cable TV. It was a great cozy family weekend… building memories for a lifetime
Audra was so very helpful as we planned our surprise weekend. We were unable to arrange for the boat rental as it was Thanksgiving weekend and the marina was closed. I would recommend stocking up on groceries before leaving town, since there is not a major grocery store anywhere around. We did stop in at Nail's market, where they have an assortment of frozen casseroles and all the essentials for a first night's dinner or morning breakfast.
We look forward to taking another holiday in the summer months to enjoy the beautiful lake. Thank you for sharing your vacation home with us!
