The Ferry House is a perfect haven for those looking to escape the hectic pace of everyday life. Recently refurbished. A place where you can wake up in a superking size bed and look straight onto St. Ives Bay and Godrevy lighthouse. Watch the ebb and flow of the tide, whilst waking or having your morning tea or coffee. Step out of the door and walk on the dunes or beach comb in St. Ives Bay. There is a spacious private lawned garden with an indoor heated , swimming pool and a summerhouse where you can be outside but not feel the elements whilst watching the sunset over the bay. Alternatively, there is a TV, DVD player and free unlimited super fast infinity broadband/wifi connection.
Guests are able to park for free on the nearby quay 150m along the beach from the house.
Lelant, the birthplace of Rosamunde Pilcher, is conveniently located near to St. Ives, but remains a peaceful and relaxed village even in the height of summer. The Eden Project is within easy distance to visit for the day, as are many of Cornwall's tourist destinations. A great location, especially of interest to golfers, walkers, painters, ornithologists, kayakers, windsurfers and anglers.
The famous local author Rosamunde Pilcher has recently described the walk to the house as her favourite walk:
"My favourite walk is at Lelant, down the road past the church onto the golf course. You see the bay and the colours, and it's never the same - it's just perfect."

Stunning off the beaten track location
Fantastic location with stunning sea views
Paradise!
Wonderful. We really appreciate your lovely comments. We often have guests stay at the houses at the beach who feel the same, even families with teenagers who tell us how they decide not to go anywhere else as it is so relaxing but interesting at the same time. Nature abounds, guests love watching the seals, birds and even reported slow worms and pine martens last year!
The water activity is transfixing. My children have grew up across the footpath at The Beach Bungalow with the passing traffic being fisherman putting out their lobster and crab pots! The recent addition of the kitesurfing adds to the beauty too, apparently it's a top UK spot for it. (The quad bikes are on Hayle Town Beach, the opposite beach on the opposite side of the water and not on our beach so we are not affected by the noise).
Thank you for your compliments on the style of the house. ( We aren't interior designers just normal people putting together what we think we would like whilst living at the beach on holiday). It's good to know we got it right.
New sun beds are on the list! Unfortunately despite being new last summer the location and sea salt is terrible for anything metal. Wood is even worse. Plastic next! Sorry I had not thought that new ones would be needed until June.
We would love you to return. You might find that the end of Sept and even October a good time. Cornwall is popular then as the weather is typically good in October. We have some guests who repeatedly return each October to our houses on the beach and people are still in the sea! The treat is that it's not as busy as peak holiday time or as expensive.
Many thanks!
Absolutely fantastic place to stay!
A very special place...
Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with this wonderful review. We really do appreciate hearing that our guests have a superb time at The Ferry House (not forgetting our other beach houses too!) The team work hard to ensure that our guests get the holiday that they deserve and need, we all know how rushed and hectic life can be. Holidays are special times for good memories and we know that being at The Ferry House can provide for a truly exceptional holiday experience. Many guests tell us this and many guests are back for their 4th or 5th stay! We have guests who say that they have lots of day trip planned but in the end find that there is enough to do just sitting and looking out from the Ferry House to the beach and the bay. There is always something good going on, (even in the depths of winter wildlife abounds), don't forget the passing traffic, (gig rowers and lobster/crab boats).
Some families say that their children put down their electrical devices and happily revert to kids play on the beach, unwinding prior to stressful exams. We ourselves know and appreciate the location as we have lived there ourselves and are happy to share the rejuvenation that it so often provides. As with all things special there is always the slightly unorthodox walk in but our guests enjoy being able to walk along a beach to get to their beach retreat. Logistics also mean that a magazine show home is not easily achieved at that location. We are therefore practical in what we provide as we have a younger family and know that the last thing we want to do is worry that either the children will create damage or that they might hurt themselves on hard highly polished surfaces or glass tables. We therefore aim for the practical, comfortable and most of all relaxation rather than the superficial fashionable magazine look. Most of our guests appreciate and enjoy the Ferry House because of this. Once again thank you for a fab review. Do come back!
Lovely property well laid out for large famiy
Location
St Ives Bay has superb beaches with glittering clear sea and clear air. The Beach House is situated on one of St Ives Bay's beaches. Great for surfing, windsurfing, sea kayaking and fishing. The area has great artistic traditions dating back to the 1800s when accomplished painters revelled in the clear accurate light and luminous colours. An artistic legacy exhibited in the Tate Gallery. The Beach House, the former studio of John Miller, who captured the beauty of the location in his Beach paintings. Add to all this a range of excellent restaurants and cafés, traditional pubs and St. Ives becomes even more of a holiday delight. The Eden Project and other world famous Cornish gardens such as Heligan and Glendurgan are all in driving distance. The proeprty is situated next to the West Cornwall Golf Course and on the South West Coastal Walking Route and the Hayle Estaury Bird Reserve. Lelant was the birth place and childhood home of Rosamunde Pilcher author of the Shell Seekers The famous local author Rosamunde Pilcher has recently described the walk to the house as her favourite walk: "My favourite walk is at Lelant, down the road past the church onto the golf course. You see the bay and the colours, and it's never the same - it's just perfect." Golf: Meters from the scenic 18 hole West Cornwall Golf Course
