About Rose

Tel: 07752059460. My husband grew up in nearby Barrow and, as a family we have explored the area with our children for many years. Keen to continue this even when his parents were no longer around, we fell in love with this cottage which we think is in the most idyllic location imaginable. Although we live more than 200 miles away, we get up whenever we can - our dogs are in their element at the cottage and run for miles across the sands. Our children as adults visit with their friends - taking the opportunity to go for long walks, bike rides, paddling their kayaks and flying kites.

Rose purchased this bungalow in 2006

Why Rose chose Kendal & South Lakes

We had no intention of purchasing a property but it was one of those moments where we both fell instantly in love with the cottage and location and knew we must have it. We've had no regrets and, besides letting it out, ourselves, family and friends have had many magical holidays at the cottage.

What makes this bungalow unique

Location, location! stunning views from the conservatory and gardens over Morecambe Bay with the hills of the Lake District in the distance. The seclusion and tranquillity of the cottage - no near neighbours. Pubs (and food) 5 mins walk away. Vast sands to walk out on (ideal for dogs). Amazing bird life in Morecambe Bay can be viewed from the property. Ideal base for exploring Southern and Western Lake District or just going for walks and bike rides from the property.

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5

If you want quiet, seclusion, away from it all in a comfortable well equipped cottage, this is the ideal place for you.

The sands of Morecambe Bay are literally on the doorstep offering good walks, with or without a dog. Excellent views and fantastic for wildlife.

Despite the remote location there are facilities within a short drive and an excellent, dog friendly pub just 5 minutes walk away.

I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to escape the hustle bustle of everyday life for a truly relaxing break.

Merits far more than the 5 star top rating of this review.

We're hoping for the chance to stay there again soon.

Hidden Gem ammendment.

  • 5 of 5

As per my original review, but I had difficulty putting a star rating, as the site would not show me the options.

I was really disappointed to see that it appears I've only scored it 2.

I've now amended it to 5, although I think it deserves more.

Owner's Response: Thanks for persevering, Steve - I have passed the message on to HomeAway regarding the difficulties you had with the website. Unfortunately, your original review has disappeared now this one has been accepted to replace it, so people aren't able to see the lovely things you wrote about Maskel Beach! I'm sure they'll gather that you loved it, though, by the 5* you have given it. Thank you. Rose

Another fabulous break at Maskel Beach

  • 5 of 5

Maskel Beach is becoming a firm favourite of my sister & I as this is our second stay in 4 months :)

The proximity of the beach for the dogs and the cottage itself just makes us want to keep going back!

Again we had great weather so straight out the gate and on to the sand! I would say for those who've not been before just check your tides as they vary quite a lot and high tide for us was at 2.30pm some days.

The fire at night once again was great especially with the wind howling outside & Rose had left ample wood in the shed.

Maskel is a brilliant dog walking cottage for us and I couldn't recommend it enough! Try & grab a week if you can find one as she gets booked up really quick!

Thanks Rose, we'll be booking with you again soon!

Absolutely Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

You won't find a more relaxing and chilled out place than Maskel beach!

My sister and I took the 2 dogs there for a long weekend break and it was fantastic! The beach right outside the gate was deserted so it was like having our own private beach and you could walk for miles.

There was no noise at all except the sound of the birds and wind.

After a long walk there is ample seating with 3 x 2 seater couches in the living room to choose from and the TV with freeview has enough channels to flick through.

The bonus is the 'real' fire so get that roaring away with a beverage of choice and your evening is set!

The kitchen has everything you would need so everything has been well thought out.

For those of you like myself who need to keep in touch with the outside world the Internet is an average speed at 5mbps so if you need to work etc with laptop it's ok.

We will definitely be back to Maskel in the very near future.....thanks Rose x

Quaint & Quirky Chalet beautiful peaceful location

  • 5 of 5

We loved the quirkiness of this chalet, (eg uneven floors, old curved window), Whilst we would not describe it as luxurious it was clean, homely, very comfortable, well equipped, and in a lovely peaceful location. The view across the bay to Morcambe and beyond (fully visible from all of the front windows when standing and from about half of the conservatory when sitting) is stunning and from just outside the gate you can even see blackpool tower through the binocs when it is clear! Our dogs loved the beach and we loved the quietness as they were shattered at night. There is lots of useful info in the chalet and the owners answered emails quickly and provided lots of really useful information - the "locals" were really friendly and Rose was a pleasure to deal with - thank you:)
