Southwest facing our 3-bedroom converted Finca has panoramic views of the valley and mountains beyond, stretching to the sea. Whatever time of year if the sun is out you will get it by our pool from late morning onwards and you'll be able to enjoy sunset with a glass of your favourite tipple!

The private pool (5m x 3m) is set in a lovely garden, the pool is not fenced so the villa is not suitable for children under 10 years of age. Although the nearest neighbours are within 20 metres, the garden, pool area and both terraces are not overlooked and offer complete privacy.

A traditional 'Barbacoa de obra' is available for those summer night BBQs. Sit on the terrace with a cocktail and enjoy the last rays of the sun as it sets over the mountains.

The villa is located 7 mins drive from Mijas Pueblo, a car is essential.

About Jasia, Stew & Martina

We are three friends who have known each other for too many years to mention. It has long been a dream of ours to own a property in Spain to give us a place to relax and get away from our hectic working life. In 2012 that dream was finally achieved when we purchased Finca Los Gorriones.

Why Jasia, Stew & Martina chose Mijas area

When we saw the tired old finca we knew that with a bit of hard work we could make it into the right place for us. We named it Finca Los Gorriones after all the Sparrows that frequent the area. We love how relaxed we feel when we go there and hope that you will feel the same too!

What makes this villa unique

We get the sun rfom mid morning onwards and unlike Mijas Pueblo and parts of the coast we get the very last rays as it sets over the mountains at around 10pm in the summer. Being able to enjoy a sun-downer cocktail was top of our list and with the finca facing south west it certainly ticks that box!

Great villa in a peaceful setting

Stayed here on a short golfing trip with 3 other adults - loads of space, beds very comfortable, spotlessly clean

Kitchen and utility room very good with dish washer etc

Information sent was spot on, following their instructions to the letter made for a simple journey from Malaga airport

Comfortable and peaceful escape.

A great place to get away from it all in January. A home from home. Situated well off the beaten track. If you don't know the area, make sure you follow the given routing and not your gps. Great views and a peaceful experience.

Absolutely Fantastic

The property was absolutely fantastic and all direction from airport were very easy to follow. We arrived and everything was there that you could of wished for .The views from the front of the terrace were second to none and changed every half hour . Even at night when the pool was lit and the sun was setting it was beautiful. We would not hesitate to book this wonderful Villa again we hope to return the same time next year. It was only a short ride to Mijas, Coin ,Benalmadena Pueble and Marbella. The Terrace area was a lovely sun trap and just nice to sit and eat. We used the BBQ twice which was very easy too clean. All instructions were also easy follow for access to the villa.

Thankyou all very much for a lovely stay.

Heavenly !!

Finca los gorriones is a comfortable clean and well equipped villa in a stunning location.

The interior of the property is modern with many traditional features and provides every comfort.

The outside space of the finca is wonderful and provides a variety of sunny and shady spaces to enjoy the tranquility of the area particularly the covered terrace with its dining table and comfy chairs-the perfect place to sit and quietly soak up the ever changing vistas of the mountains and enjoy the wonderful sunsets.

The BBQ is truly brilliant and we used it every evening and were really grateful for the great range of BBQ tools provided and a huge bonus....it was really easy to clean!

The villa is located a very short drive to Mijas and apart from being a quaint and interesting little town there are 2 really well stocked and good quality supermarkets there.

The drive to Fuengirola is easy and painless providing a wider range of supermarkets if required.

The pool was well maintained and simple enough for us to skim daily and was extremely refreshing when the temperature remained a fairly constant 28!

We found the owners very easy to work alongside and they provided all the directions and information we needed to enjoy a restful and relaxing 2 weeks in the sun.

We would highly recommend this property and have already re booked for next September.

Thanks to the owners for providing such a superb villa for us to enjoy and for being so very helpful.

Lovely clean villa with a few problems

The villa itself is lovely with everything you need. It’s spotless upon arrival and very secure. The kitchen is big and there is plenty of storage. Beds are comfortable and there are fans/air con in each room although it can be noisy.

There is a decent Bluetooth speaker in the front room which is good for afternoons by the pool.

The view is amazing! although the sun doesn’t appear poolside until around 11am (August) but it is there all day until sunset.

The downsides:

Firstly, the directions provided were awful. It took us the best part of 2 hours to find. There are a lot more bends, corners and bin stores than you realise once you lose your bearings. Eventually, we had to ask directions from 2 helpful Spaniards. The directions need some serious attention! Google maps won't work in the mountains.

The pool was small although I can’t complain about this as the size is advertised, also it was a good size for our 5 & 6 yr olds. What I can complain about is the pumps only coming on for a few hours in the afternoon (from 12pm). By 3pm they go off, so by morning the pool is full of ants and bugs. Every morning I would spend 30 minutes fishing all the critters from the night before so the kids could go in.

There is Wi-Fi but it’s poor, most of the time I had to use my phone data and we couldn’t get the TV working either. There were DVDs provided but only a couple there for the kids. If you fancy a quiet night in or the children want a break from the sunshine, maybe bring some more along.

The sunbeds by the pool were old and the wood was brittle and rotting. One afternoon, my partner was lying on one of them and it collapsed at the back, luckily she wasn’t hurt. I was told later that they are being replaced.

The villa is advertised as a 7 mins drive from Mijas Pueblo, its actually about 15 minutes. The supermarket is approximately 20 mins away.

Remember that there is nothing in the villa upon arrival in terms of supplies. We have stayed in villas previously where staples have been provided especially water.. If you arrive late at night as we did – 1am – milk, bread, cereal etc must be found on the way. This certainly was not ideal for us. We were frustrated, hot and thirsty after searching for the villa. We did not know the area yet but I had to drive back towards a garage to try and get supplies for the morning. Be warned the guy working nights in the BP does not speak English so have a translated list ready if you are taking a late night trip!

Owner's Response: We are reviewing the directions and will be sure to add some more obvious landmarks for those arriving after dark. We are unable to receive standard broadband in the mountains and have to rely on WiFi with the nearest masts on the coast. This can mean a slow connection at times and atmospheric conditions can play a part in this. We will be reviewing our provider to see if there are better alternatives available. UK TV channels are no longer available through sky satellite in Europe and we can only receive these using IPTV / WiFi which does work in a slightly different way, I do wish you had emailed us as it is likely we could have resolved this at the time. The sunbeds have been replaced and our pool cleaner is looking at ways of reducing the overnight insect party in the pool. Welcome baskets, tailored to your specific requirements, can be arranged on request. Thank you for your review, understanding areas where we can make improvements helps us to provide an even better service in future.

Fantastic holiday!

Fantastic property, outstanding location and good communication with the owners. As regular travellers to this pat of the world, I'd highly recommend it and will hopefully be back. If you're looking for a family villa in Mijas, don't waste your time time looking at anything else..this is the one.

The popular coastal town of Fuengirola is only 15 minutes by car and has direct train to Malaga Airport as well as buses to all parts of the coast. A car is essential.

Costa del Sol is full of beaches along its coastline and can be explored easily by car hire or public transport. A must to try are the BBQ Sardines from the beach bars and restaurants along the beach fronts. Also there are beautiful Marinas along the coast; the most local are Benalmádena, Marbella and very famous Puerto Banus with its designer boutiques. Finca Los Gorriones is only 20 minutes drive from the nearest beaches and vibrant nightlife of Fuengirola, Benalmadena and Torremolinos, and within 30 minutes drive of Marbella. Lively Fuengirola boasts many fine restaurants, water sports, beaches, a marina and an aquapark. For those ‘night-birds’ there are also several discos and places of entertainment here.

There is something for everyone in this area of the Costa Del Sol. Inland can be found the ‘Real Spain’ of breath-taking mountain views and many ‘Ventas’ – the typical Spanish restaurants. There are over 20 golf courses within half an hour’s drive, Alhaurin golf being only 5 minutes drive away. Go-karting, Fuengirola aquapark and horse riding are all close by. Those interested in horse racing can go to the magnificent new track in Mijas. The recently refurbished Lew Hoad’s tennis club is within 15 minutes drive. For those staying during the winter, skiing in the Sierra Nevada can be reached within 2 hour’s drive. Clay pigeon shooting is available in Monda, which is approximately 30 minutes away by car. The picturesque inland village of Mijas is one of the Costa Del Sol’s finest examples of an historical Pueblo Blanca or ‘white village’. Mijas features old cobbled streets and many places of interest, including old churches, museum, bars and restaurants, several serving authentic Spanish tapas and with stunning views of the Mediterranean coastline from its high vantage point. There are regular buses to the popular coastal town of Fuengirola, and to the traditional inland town of Alhaurin El Grande. For people-watching, fine dining or indulging in a bit of retail therapy, Finca Los Gorriones is ideally located for visiting Marbella and Puerto Banús, both just 30 minutes away by car
