This home is just perfect for a couple or small family that want to visit this area of the coast. The house is immaculate and has every single thing you could want from rain ponchos to kitchen gadgets for the serious cook. It is obvious that the home is well cared for as it looks and feels like a new house. The views are spectacular and it’s an easy ride for day trips to so many small towns as well as Galway and very easy for a day trip to the Doolin ferry for the ride to the islands.
Mary was so kind and even started us out with a basket of fresh fruit and some coffee and breads and butters to start our first morning off.
I hope some day to return to Fanore and would be so happy to stay again in this lovely home.
We spent a week in this impeccably maintained home. It is our third stay in one the beautiful sister properties here in Fanore, looked after by Mary and Gus. What’s not to love? One can watch the spectacular sunsets over the Atlantic from the dining room or bedroom; or on rainy days relax by one of the two fireplaces after cooking up a delicious dinner in the spacious kitchen. Go hiking along nearly empty trails and listen to the wind on the hills. Enjoy incoming tides along the sandy beach. Mary and Gus genuinely care about their guests and have equipped both houses with everything one could possibly need during one’s stay. The homes and hosts are consistently excellent, from house to house and year to year. We adore both properties and cannot wait to return.
KK and F it was wonderful to welcome you back for your third visit in last two years. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

The perfect place to relax and reset
This property exceeded our expectations. The setting was surreal - the Burren, the sea, cows, sheep and stone fences for miles. We went for hikes, visited the pub and shop and in each were received warmly. A short (and twisty!) drive away from some lovely restaurants, the Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands. The cottage itself was impeccably clean and well-appointed. The nights were quiet, punctuated by the occasional bleating of sheep :) Highly recommend cottage #1 / Deirdre's Cottage.
Thank you for visiting. It was a pleasure to have you as guests.
After almost a year of planning I could not have asked for anything more perfect. Mary and Gus went above and beyond to assist my husband who is wheel chair bound. There is one small step into the house and the day after we arrived, Gus was out front building a ramp for us.
This quiet, serene, and beautiful cottage was exactly what we were looking for and exactly as advertised. We had everything we needed and all of the necessities were provided (including the cookies I am now addicted to and can not get in the States thank you very much. Lol) If we ever return we will never even look at another place.
Be aware, although you are within 20 minutes give or take to a larger town. This is a remote cottage, so if that is not what you are looking for, keep that in mind.
Thank you Mary, Gus, and David for one of our best vacations to date! You made us feel like family and were very responsive every step of the way.
Thank you Tracy for your lovely review.we hope you will visit Fanore again in the near future. It was lovely to meet you both
Beautiful, remote, relaxing
My fiancé and I very much enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage. The cottage itself was comfortable and very well equipped from the kitchen to laundry facilities. Of course, there is a nice pub in walking distance. And Mary was very helpful - thanks for the milk and jam!
The setting is stunning. The Burren, the sea, the view of the Aran Islands....all spectacular! We had a great day cycling around the largest Aran Island, touring the ruins, shopping, even fishing. Another day the weather was wet and blowy - a great day to stay nestled in the cottage, sip tea, and watch the weather blow across the sea.
We enjoyed our visit very much and look forward to visiting again!
Cheryl, thank you for your review.glad you enjoyed your stay.Hope you visit soon again.
Blissful Stay in Fanore
We had a blissful week, staying in this beautiful cottage! We were five all together, but there was plenty of room with a huge kitchen and lovely dining room and living room, both with epic views of the ocean. Mary, the owner, lives a short distance away and she was so helpful whenever we needed anything.
The cottage is very tastefully decorated, including the beautiful master bedroom, which also has stunning views of the ocean and the Aran Islands. The first few days we didn't have a car, but we walked the kilometer or so to Fanore where we ate delicious seafood at O'Donohue's pub and caught 350 bus to our various adventures.
The cottage is perfectly located with many things to see and do nearby. The beach is within walking distance, where there's even a surf school. We also rode horses through the Burren, visited Aillwee Cave and Bird Center, Poulnabrone Dolmen, the Cliffs of Moher, of course! Truly an epic stay in an epic place!
It was a pleasure to have you and your beautiful family as guests.i enjoyed meeting you all.
