A very private cabin on a beautiful three and four-tenths acre piece of property along Stover Creek and a large branch is available for weekend getaways or perhaps longer. The secluded screened porch with a luxury hot tub alcove facing the woods has the sounds of rushing water and wildlife singing to you every night.
Two full bedrooms, large loft and sofa beds provide total possible sleeping for up to 6 people. Two large bathrooms and a washer and dryer provide all the comforts of home. The kitchen is well stocked and appointed including a dishwasher and gas range and stove.
Of course there is satellite TV, stereo, and central heat and air. But the atmosphere from a real wood burning stone fireplace makes it feel like camping without 'roughing it.' Incidentally, there is plenty of firewood.
This wonderful retreat is in the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management Area of the Chattahoochee National Forest, but is still only an hour and a half drive from Atlanta.
There is no end of fun things to do in this area. Hiking abounds: the Benton MacKaye and the Appalachian Trails heads are less than 15 minutes away on Springer Mountain, and there are numerous other trails all close by that lead to waterfalls and spectacular mountain views. Fishing opportunities in trout streams and in area mountain lakes are also plentiful and cater to all skill levels. Enjoy the canoeing and tubing on the Cartecay and Toccoa rivers, and challenging white water rafting is a short drive away. Mountain bike trails and horseback riding are also easy to find and just minutes away.
If you're not quite so energetic, you'll find the beautiful downtown area of Ellijay less than 15 minutes away. Ellijay has numerous antique shops and art galleries and small eateries. Ellijay is host to an apple festival in October, but the numerous orchards are open all year long and have tours, some offer hayrides for the kids. Old-fashioned train rides along the Toccoa River or a visit to an ancient American Indian site can make for a relaxing time in the mountains. The area is rich with history, and a short drive to Dahlonega will offer an adventure into the past where the first gold rush in the United States occurred.
The mountains of north Georgia are not touristy or trashy. The people are pleasant with character and culture. You’ll become a part of this place, if you want to, and then you’ll want to return to your second 'home' again and again.

I am an fly fisherman and hiker and throw pottery which I sell at art festival in the area. Please feel free to ask me for some good fishing areas for your particular skill level when you reserve my cabin in the north Georgia mountains.
Eric L Shaw purchased this cabin in 2005
This is a very private and special place that lowers my heart rate every time I make that turn off the main road on my way there.
I have the creek all to myself and don't have to share, the kitchen is easy to cook in, and the hot tub releases the aches and pains from a good days hiking or fishing in the many area streams filled with trout.
Lovely home in the heart of...nothing. Don't stay here if you're looking for hustle and bustle! But if you want a quiet place that has lots of amenities, this cabin is for you! I'm pretty sure you could stay here for a week or more and never see another soul. Eric's home is beautiful, clean, and spacious.
My family and I would like to thank Eric for the wonderful time we spent at his cabin this past week. The cabin was clean and neat. I like the fact that other people leave unused items behind since you can't buy everything you need to prepare a good meal. Our daughter and friends drove to a ski resort (only 2 hours away) and to the City of Atlanta's malls and touristic places. There were tons of wood to have your own fire outside, the sound of the river was just magnificent, the dollar general store was only a few miles away, the shower's water was always HOT, Jacuzzi was set at 100 degrees all the time, the wine tasting trip was awesome; in other words, is very hard to describe all the good things we found.
Beautiful site and the cabin is so nice, all you need to bring is your food, drinks and clothes, he even has spices to cook with. Open up the window and the creek will put you to sleep. Ellijay is a great town, everything you need and more.
The house was beautiful. The property was secluded and quiet as described.
Making a trip to town for supplies was easy. Beds very comfortable and the kitchen was
This cabin is very secluded out in the woods but is extremely comfortable and well apportioned. The owner is very responsive and friendly and clearly wants to make sure his guests are taken care of. I would gladly stay here again!
If you're in town for hiking the Appalachian Trail, the terminus is about a 35-40 minute drive from the cabin, but most of that time is due to an unpacked road up the mountain. Otherwise, this place is a great, relaxing place to spend some time in peace.
The owner was very available and answered any questions we had before arrival. After arrival... our exceptions were exceeded! The cabin was clean and had everything we needed. We had the best time The screened in porch was the best with the hot tube... so peaceful! Thank you so much for sharing your cabin with us. We look forward to coming up again.
