This is very private cabin on a beautiful large 3.5 acre lot. It is in a small community of larger plot mini farms along a secluded section of Stover Creek. This rustic and well maintained chink log cabin is in it's own valley and neighbors are out of view, even in winter months. The large screened porch, with a luxurious hot tub, faces the woods. The relaxing sounds of nature and rushing water will wash away the worries of city life.
Two full bedrooms, large loft and sofa beds provide sleeping for up to 6 adults comfortably. Two large bathrooms and a washer and dryer provide facilities for all guests’ cleaning needs. The kitchen is well appointed, including a large refrigerator, a dishwasher and a full size gas range and stove.
There is Direct TV, phone service and DSL WiFi, a sound system, and central heat and air. The atmosphere from a real wood burning stone fireplace, with a gas starter, makes it feel like camping without 'roughing it.' Firewood is provided.
This wonderful retreat is in the Blue Ridge Wildlife Management Area of the Chattahoochee National Forest, but is still only an hour and a half drive from Atlanta.
There are lots fun things to do in this area. Hiking abounds: the Benton MacKaye and the Appalachian Trails heads are about 12 miles away on Springer Mountain, and there are numerous hiking trails close by that lead to several waterfalls, a swinging bridge, and spectacular mountain views. Fishing opportunities in the numerous trout streams and in area mountain lakes are plentiful and cater to all skill levels. The kayaking and tubing opportunities on the Cartecay and Toccoa rivers are very close by and the shuttle services are inexpensive and easy to navigate. More challenging guided white water rafting is a short drive away, as well. Mountain bike trails and horseback riding are also easy to locate and enjoy.
The beautiful downtown Ellijay is about 15 miles away. Ellijay has numerous antique shops and art galleries and small eateries. Ellijay is host to an apple festival in October, while the numerous orchards are open all year long and have tours, some offer hayrides and petting areas for the kids. The city of Blue Ridge is about 25 miles from this cabin. Blue Ridge offers old-fashioned train rides along the Toccoa River and plenty of shops, restaurants and bars to enjoy as well. The entire area is rich with history and southern culture and charm.
The mountains of northwest Georgia are not overly touristy or trashy. The locals have character are pleasant and eager to please visitors. Simply driving through this naturally beautiful area is a scenic adventure. Come see for yourself, and I’m sure you’ll have a difficult time keeping this place a secret!

I am an fly fisherman and hiker and throw pottery which I sell at art festival in the Atlanta area. Please feel free to ask me for some good fishing areas for your particular skill level or the location for some of my favorite hikes.
Eric L Shaw purchased this cabin in 2005
This is a very private and special place that relaxes me every time I make that turn off the main road on my way there.
I have the creek all to myself and don't have to share, the kitchen is easy to cook in, and the hot tub releases the aches and pains from a good days hiking or fishing in the many area streams filled with trout.
It was an awesome weekend...enjoyed the natural beauty of the mountain getaway. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed, very clean, and very comfortable..Eric was very helpful..thoroughly enjoyed..and hope to return next year!!!
The cabin has much to recommend it. 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms- it can handle a big family or extended family. Plus furry family members allowed. It is furnished with all you need. Linens, towels, and pretty much everything you need in the kitchen including big and small appliances. There are games for all ages. There is DirecTV and wifi internet but cell phone service was non-existent for T-Mobile . Cabin phone service was LOCAL calls only.
The only drawback for us was its isolated location, with a mile plus of single lane gravel road access.
The house was beautiful, modern, and clean. We loved the feeling of being tucked away in the woods, but it was also easily accessible to Ellijay, Cartecay, and Amicalola. The hot tub was also great!
This was our first ever stay in the north Ga area near Amicalola. We booked for 2 nights in June. My impressions of the cabin are that it is nicer in person than the pictures even indicate. It is truly in the woods - so if you really want to feel like you are getting away from it all, that feeling is magnified (for us in a very positive way). The woodsy setting really felt intimate and peaceful. I chose the property because of the stream nearby. There were other properties I considered, but the stream was the extra piece that tilted things in favor of this property. And I was rewarded, the sound of the stream is perfect and adds to the relaxing vibe of the property. The interior is roomy, comfortable, clean, and functional. You are not completely isolated - there are other properties in the vicinity, and farms and homes not more than a mile away, but you really have the feeling of being away from it all - at the cabin, you can't see any other properties, you're surrounded by wooded views. If you value that, this property is a great deal. Eric, the owner was attentive and easy to work with.
Our family loved our stay at what was a very private cabin, indeed. The kids most enjoyed splashing around in the nearby creek, and the adults loved having the hot tub for late night relaxing. The cabin was perfectly set up for families with kids -- there were board games, movies, and horseshoes for everyone to enjoy. Plus, the cabin was well-stocked with kitchen supplies (including cooking oils and spices!). Downtown Ellijay was adorable, and the kids got a kick out of seeing old-timey charms at the various antique shops. We couldn't have picked a better spot to spend our Memorial Day weekend. Thanks for your generous accommodations!
This cabin was so much better than even the pics indicated.
We were looking for a secluded cabin away from others, and this fit the bill perfect.
There is a beautiful creek on the property and the peace and quiet except for the sound of the water is very serene.
The cabin itself is very clean and spacious, with a big screened in porch, hot tub,and we'll decorated.
Bottom line; if your looking for a place off the beaten path, this is the perfect place.
I can't wait to spend another week there.
Ellijay is host to an apple festival in October, but some of the numerous orchards are open all year long and have tours; some offer hayrides for the kids. Old-fashioned train rides along the river or a visit to an ancient American Indian site can make for a relaxing time in the mountains
