About Owner / Manager
My husband and I (both British) lived at Villa Lucas from 2007 until 2012. My husband and his family have been coming to Rhodes for over 25 years, and he introduced me to the island in 2002. His family have also lived there for many years so we are a well known family on the island!
Owner / Manager purchased this Villa in 2007
Why Owner / Manager chose Afantou
We decided to make the leap and leave the UK back in 2006. We rented an apartment for a year, had our son 'Lucas' and then bought the villa in 2007. After 4 very happy and peaceful years we decided to move back to the UK for work commitments and British schooling but still coming back twice a year for holidays. A good friend of ours manages Villa Lucas for us and will greet you there on arrival (or at the nearest convenient time) and be on-hand to help you if you should need her during your stay.
What makes this Villa unique
We would like to add that we run Villa Lucas as a totally non-profit making British company, purely to cover our expenses. This is why you will find our prices significantly lower than other similar villas on the island. We are happy that we are bringing tourists to the island that will utilise the local business' and generate good tourism, rather than the large all-inclusive hotels that are monopolising Greece's tourism and taking away custom from the local people who need it more than ever. Please note it is possible to pay in Euro or Pound Sterling - please contact me to arrange this.
100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
The location of this beautiful villa is rural but with only a 2 minute walk to the beautiful beach with crystal clear warm water and less than 5 minutes to the friendly hotel pool it has everything you need for a fantastic holiday. There are at least 8 good places to eat and drink within walking distance. This includes really good beach bars.
The villa is really spacious. We were a family of 7 aged between 63 and 2 years old. Granny and Grandad had the top floor bedroom which was lovely with a nice quiet terrace to take in the views and the other adults and wee one were on the lower floor. This was ideal as the little one could go into the back garden that leads off the bedrooms to let off some energy.
In between the two sleeping floors is the living area with a really well equipped kitchen. We only ate breakfast at the villa but everything is there if you enjoy cooking. Also good taste in music and films on the shelves.
The front of the villa has a lovely garden area with plants and shrubs with plenty room for us all to sit together either in sun or shade on the large terrace.
My grandson loved to visit the goats and hens that are close by on the road to the villa and with the numerous surprise toys in house he had a great time. We loved the paint a stone activity!
I can honestly say this is the first holiday I have been on when I felt relaxed and if I was in my own home. It feels like this house has a lot of love built into it and would love to return. X
Wonderful guests! Thank you for leaving the villa so beautifully clean. Was a pleasure to have you at Villa Lucas. Many thanks! X
Nice house close to the beach. Fully equiped. Only
Fully equipped nice house close to the beach and possibilities to use swimming pool of resort next door. Only issue was that the taps in bathroom and kitchen were not working properly.
Absolutely loved it! Great location
This villa was simply perfect. There were 3 adults & one child with another couple joining us for a few days. Plenty of space & the outdoor area was lovely. Villa was clean & had everything we needed.
Could walk to a fabulous taverna which was fantastic value for excellent food, & we drove into Afandou a few times & found the best tavernas/bars & spent hours sitting with the locals who were so friendly. Lovely to be away from the crowds of Lindos, Falaraki & Rhodes! Beach was clean & quiet, & we used the hotel pool most days which also served great food. Villa Lucas was really homely - the locals around bought us fresh figs & we didn't want to leave! A car is recommended if you want to explore the island, but taxis are plentiful & not far from bus-stop if you want to travel that way. We preferred the local beaches of Stegna, Tsampika, Haraki & Agathi to the busy ones & had the best time ever.
The owners were in constant contact with us to check all was ok but we had no issues. Great place!!!
Not as we epected
The vila is near the beach and there are two tavernas near.
Hoewer, the rooms were not very clean, the dishes and all kitchen staff were improper to be used for eaten being dirty, there were spiderwebs almost everywere and the sheets were sewed.
In the bathroom is was a horrible smel irespective if the windows were opened or not.
The wi-fi limit is depleting extremely fast; we suspect that the internal network is shared; we recharged the wi-fi after first three days with 11 GB and in three days the wi-fi was unavable again.
No value for money.
At the same price we could obtain a much better quality.
If I will come back in Rhodos, I will not stay at Vila Lucas.
This is my first bad review in 5 years! We always make sure the villa is spotless and very surprised to hear of 'sewed sheets' and dirty kitchen utensils. The villa is cleaned very thoroughly, particularly prior to the first guests of the season (as with these guests) and all the linen, towels and bed covers are washed thoroughly after every use. The wifi is mobile so will run out fast if used for streaming, which is clearly noted in the welcome pack. The villa is very reasonably priced compared to most other villas on the island. What a shame to not have been notified of this very unjustified and damaging complaint during their stay, in order that we could have look at any 'dirt' that is spoken of. Please take note of ALL my other reviews and hopefully you will hear about the real Villa Lucas. Thank you X
Tranquil and relaxing, close to the beach
This was our third visit to Villa Lucas, we really enjoy the peaceful surroundings and being able to walk to the beach in five minutes. We stay here with our child and another couple with a child. There is plenty for us to do with a car, we love visiting the old town for the touristy part and also the waterpark, because the island is small you can get to anywhere easily. The local village is lovely for an evening out, and children are made welcome everywhere. The children also enjoyed staying at home somedays, playing on the trampoline in the garden and wandering to the beach. We also spent a day walking along the beach to the next town, where there are restaurants, bars and shops. We always find plenty to do without overspending and we will return! Thank you for a lovely holiday😎
Gorgeous stay at Villa Lucas
great location - very close to the beautiful beach - very peaceful and natural. lovely villa - good value for money. lovely pool close by at Afandou Bay hotel.... Villa has stunning views - USP! can see the whole beach from the top floor. - 5 miles long.
The Aegean Islands region
The largest of the Aegean Islands, Rhodes is known as the 'Island of Sun' - having on average more sunny days than any other island, and according to Greek mythology, the Island belonging to Helios - the God of sun, who bathed the island in his radiance and made it the most beautiful in the Aegean sea.
Why pick Rhodes for your Greek holiday destination? It has so much to offer - it has fantastic weather, it is rich in history and places of natural beauty, culture and tradition, but also offers nightlife, water sports and family activities so there really is something for everyone.
The Rhodes / Afandou area
Geographically, Afandou is the ideal location for a holiday on Rhodes. It is almost equidistant from the main sight seeing attractions of the old town of Rhodes - the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe (20km), and the stunning white village of Lindos (30km). It is centraly located to all the best beaches on the island - Anthony Quinn Bay, Ladiko, Faliraki, Tsambika and of course Afandou beach, and being only a 20 minute car ride from Rhodes airport means you have no long and hot car journey to your holiday home after your plane journey.
Afandou is 5km from the resort of Faliraki - which is these days a much calmer family resort with masses of entertainment on offer . A huge Waterpark is the main attraction - also a bowling alley, the Luna park fairground, The Magic Castle (fun centre), go-karting, boat trips from the harbour, shopping, and many bars and restaurants to chose from.
Other sights of interest close to Afandou are The Seven Springs (Epta Piges) of Rhodes (an area of striking natural beauty for walks) and The Kalithea Spa - a remarkable Italian spa - recently renovated - with a museum and a stunning cafe/dining area overlooking a bathing area. At the far end of the beach above the resort of Kolymbia is Tsambika mountain (visible from Villa Lucas), at the top of which is the Tsambika monastery - known to the people of Rhodes as the fertility mountain - beware! The views from the top are breath-taking.
A drive inland will take you to the Valley of the Butterflys - a beautiful shady valley where thousands of butterflys go to reproduce in August. Further over on the West side of the Island is the site of Filerimos and the ancient city of Kamiros which together make a fascinating trip out. You can climb up the large cross monument at Filerimos (if you dare..) for a dramatic 360 degree view of the North of the Island. At the site of Kamiros you can see the remains of a very rich and advanced civilization that existed 3000 years ago.
