A comfortable, very central one bedroom apartment renovated to a high standard, with a completely equipped kitchen (oven but no microwave…… this is France) and a large walk in shower room The double bedroom offers a very comfortable double bed, hanging wardrobe for clothes plus a tall boy for other garments, and a CD.The lounge has plenty of comfortable seating plus a large flat screen TV WiFi. Both rooms with hot and cold Air Conditioning. The apartment has conserved its original friezes and oak parquet flooring. Located on the first floor with a wide staircase access and two lifts. The building was an Art Deco period hotel which has been converted and retains a lot of the charm of that period. There is TV security on every floor and a charming and helpful Portuguese couple concierge the building.
This apartment is located in one of the most Cosmopolitan areas of the Carre d’Or one block from the Negresco (where there are good jazz nights) and very close to vibrant street cafes and food outlets, one minute from the supermarket and 1 minute from wonderful fresh vegetable shops. It is a very lively area but the apartment located at the back and gets no traffic noise and is calm and peaceful at night. 50 metres from the beach and Promenade des Anglais where its fun to people watch the joggers, skaters, sunbathers and walkers, the Promenade is always full of bustle. it is only 10 minutes from the airport. A walk to the Nice Old town takes about 20 minutes. The bus service in Nice is excellent and you can travel as far as 15 kms or more outside the town for the same price.
There are many festivals and activities all year round in Nice including the famous Nice festival in February and many music events with famous names in the Jazz and well known music stars world. There is an incredible choice of food from many different French and Ethnic restaurants, and one of the big charms is that even in winter the restaurants on the beach open and many people eat lunch in the sun. A good train service takes you to Italy and Monaco is easily accessed by bus as is Cannes, Juan Les Pins, Antibes and other famous Cote d’Azur destinations.
PLEASE NOTE THIS APARTMENT IS NOT SUITABLE FOR 4 ADULTS. Any new enquiry must be paid for at least 3 days before the date required if it is to be accepted. My housekeeper cannot fit in meeting new clients for example with only two days notice and I cannot give her notice without having payment.
In June 2011 I fell in love with the ambience the minute I crossed the unspoiled threshold of this former Art Deco Hotel only one block from the sea. Despite the fact the apartment needed lots of renovation it has retained the original oak flooring and ceiling friezes but the atmosphere was also special in some way. having contracted cancer it took me longer to renovate than I had originally thought but it was finally finished end of 2012. I love it just as much now as when I first saw it.
I have lived in London since I came here from Ireland but I love to get away to Nice on the quick 1.5 hour flight and get fresh air at the same time as keeping my French up to the mark.
Mrs. Oonagh Karanjia purchased this apartment in 2011
It has everything I wanted, close to the sea and all amenities, very good security with lovely, helpful Portuguese concierge and her husband. Easy for the airport, no need for a car with such a good bus service. Most of all it is a happy feeling building.
Not exactly unique but I have tried to put everything in that might be desired in terms of WiFi; TV; fully equipped kitchen and large walk in shower. I love the wide stairs to the first floor and the option of them or the two period lifts. Everyone who has stayed there has loved the atmosphere of the place. There is a huge entrance hall with the original floor tiles and the wrought iron lifts remind me of every old French film I have seen.
The apartment was very clean and it has retained some lovely Art Deco features. It is secure and close to shops and restaurants as well as to the Promenade des Anglais.
We were given a very warm welcome and made to feel at home as well as having contact numbers in case of any problems.
There is a small supermarket and a bakery as well as a wonderful fruit shop right next to the apartment so it is easy to pop and get fresh items when needed. There is also a great cheese shop just further along the rue de France .
I would certainly recommend this apartment to friends and relatives.
A great flat for our first holiday in Nice. Really clean and tidy and easy to use all the facilities in the flat. Air-Con was a treat and the bed was really comfortable. The cleaner met us on time and talked us through the flat, and it was helpful to know someone in the area who can answer any questions.
Location is very near the beach and not far to walk to get buses to other private beaches and attractions. A good area near supermarkets and a safe property to stay in due to locked communal gates at street level.
We enjoyed our stay in Nice and in this lovely 1930's apartment (complete with wrought iron lift that one sees in films) so much so that we can't wait to go again. It is perfectly located for the promenade, beach, food shops and restaurants. I particularly enjoyed popping out in the morning in true French style to buy fresh fruit, croissant and bread for our breakfast all from just around the corner. The location was good for getting just about anywhere with buses stopping close by to take you into the old part of Nice (although this could be walked, or cycled - lots of cyclists) or further afield to the Matisse Chapel say, situated in Vence. The owner gave us lots of helpful information before we went which was very useful in finding our way around quickly without wasting too much time and she was keen to ensure that we had everything we needed. A small but comfortable and well thought out apartment with everything one might need. Excellent value.
First and the biggest advantage of the apartment is it's owner. You won't find anyone more helpfull then Oonagh! Before going to Nice I knew everything about where to go and where to eat. It saved our time and money. So we just enjoyed our stay!
The apartment is exactly what you can see on the pictures. It was a bit tiny for our family but very cozy. The location is perfect - close to beach, supermarkets, shops, etc. Everything you need is within walking distance.
I would recomment it for couples on romantic holiday.
Many music events, and international fairs all year round, vibrant restaurants minutes away and walking distance to nightlife. Museums, exhibitions, huge variety of shops, great bus service for cote d'azur. activities of every kind. Vineyards and châteaux bus rides away.
I personally love a 10 minutes walk to the Musee des beaux Arts, located in a fantastic villa surrounded by gorgeous gardens, the villa isle is worth a look quite apart from the amazing arts, and it is lovely sit in sun or shade afterwards in a beautiful garden. In the other direction shops and restaurants right near the apartment, the beach only 50 metres away - I like to treat myself on my last day to a light lunch at one of the many beach restaurants,
If you are into excellent music then there are many music festivals throughout the summer very often at a fraction of the price, and in a much lovelier venue outside in the sunshine, than those indoors at high prices in the UK. artists are not only from UK there are many international stars who like to perform at these Festivals year after year. No muddy wellies!
Ten minutes from the airport, no need for expensive taxis, just catch the local buses from the highway outside the airport and get off at the stop Gambetta/Promenade very cheap very near. Also if you want to go around Nice or even places as far as St. Paul de Vence €1 bus ticket will get you there. About 30 metres away from the apartment walking West along rue de France is a bookshop they sell a carnet of 10 tickets for €10. Saves walking to the bus placd off Avenue Jean Medicin. You can also walk east along Promenade des Anglais less than ten minutes walk to the Tourist office on your left Which opens at 9 am lots of helpful indormation there.
If you feel like a little luxury go for an aperitif at one of the bars at Negresco Hotel one block away, always some music there. Step back into another century.
Plenty of brochures in the apartment but if you want more information about anything I can supply it by email once you have booked,
