We had an amazing time. The house is well-equipped with the most beautiful view and in a lovely, peaceful location with many beautiful walks and places to explore. Molly was beyond helpful and generous with everything, we felt so welcomed and comfortable. We couldn’t have asked for any more, we would definitely come back! Thank you so much for our stay!
It was a pleasure to meet you all and we certainly hope to see you again! Keep in mind that we also have the other vacation house, "Casa Marlis" (property number 10030804) in case Casa Rosabella isn't available!
Clean and welcoming home in the heart of an Italian village
Molly and Giovanni couldn't have been more welcoming, both before and during our stay. We felt they were interested in us as people, rather than merely customers or guests. The property was very clean and had a comfortable bed. There are views of the lake both from the property and the nearby garden. We felt at home from the moment we had unpacked, and started to relax immediately. The property is well located in the centre of a friendly village and is close to some wonderful walks. There is an excellent hypermarket at Porlezza, about 15 minutes away by car. Being able to walk to and swim in the lake was an unexpected bonus. Despite being in the centre of a lively village we were only disturbed by noise on one night, and that was by a massive and spectacular thunderstorm over the lake! The village is on a steep hillside and the property is only accessible on foot, about 50 steps down from the parking. Not a problem for us, but important to be aware if you have mobility problems. Also, don't make the mistake we did by only taking Euros. The property is only a mile or so from the Swiss border and if you want to visit anywhere in Switzerland you will at the very least need some Swiss franc coins for parking. Having said that, the petrol stations just before crossing into Italy were happy to exchange Euros although presumably not at a brilliant rate.
We were so pleased to meet you both and certainly hope to see you again in the future! All the best, Molly and Giovanni
What is there not to like about Molly & Giovanni’s Casa Rosabella accommodation? My husband and I spent a week there in July/August of this year and we thought we were in heaven! After a very warm welcome from Molly & Giovanni we were shown the accommodation which is in the most idyllic location in the quiet medieval hillside village of Albogasio Superiore. Out of the lounge, dining and bedroom windows of Casa Rosabella are the most amazing, picture postcard perfect views of Lake Lugano and its surrounding mountains. The house itself was better than spotless and very well maintained with the loveliest décor and little touches that made us feel right at home. Everything had been thought of. The property also included a garden area which is most unusual in hillside villages and it was just lovely sitting having a glass of wine, chilling out and taking in the amazing view after a hectic day of sightseeing,. The locals also were very friendly toward us and the village store owner even tried to teach my husband Italian in the short space of time that we were there!
Excellent customer service was provided by Molly before and during our stay answering my many questions. Believe me, I had quite a few! One time, Molly and I had a discussion about the best gelato in the world. She pointed me in the direction of her favourite gelataria and Molly you were right……It was amazing! Molly and Giovanni, we cannot speak highly enough of you both and your property and we give you 6 out of 5 stars and thank you both for sharing your part of the world with us. Bellissimo!
Giovanni and I were so pleased to meet you and have you here as our guests! It's very gratifying to hear that we managed to help make your stay a special one, and we sincerely hope that we will see you here again sometime! All the best from Molly and Giovanni
Super stay at the lovely Casa Rosabella
A really gorgeous holiday home. The photos don't do it justice! I stayed here with my partner for a week in early September and I was so pleased with our choice. We were looking for something authentically Italian and we really came up trumps. The house is located just off the road through the little village of Algobasio Superiore. Most of the village is accessible by foot only as the location is so steep and the streets are just full of character. Parking wasn't really a problem. We always got somewhere for our rental car pretty near the house. The views over the lake and nearby mountains from both the bedroom and the kitchen/sitting room were amazing. The house itself has loads of room, was spotlessly clear and really modern inside. The owners went to great care to ensure we had everything we needed and were exceptionally friendly and helpful (thanks so much Molly and Giovanni!). The nearby village of Castello was only about 15 mins walk away and MUST be seen. It felt like going back in time! Also check out the amazing river pool swimming spot just past Castello (Molly can direct you). It was a little bit of heaven. Also the swimming spot just beside the doc in the next village Oria (about 20 mins walk) looked amazing but would be quite easy to miss. It is definitely worth a visit. Can't fault this holiday home! For somewhere modern, clean, friendly and a real Italian experience, I would recommend it 100%. There is also a gorgeous large garden for your use about 5 meters from the house. We had a few really lovely dinners there in the evening looking out over the lake. The location is also really good for seeing both a little bit of Switzerland, all of Lake Lugano and it isn't far at all by car to Lake Como so very easy to day trip to there.
We are so glad that our guests enjoyed and appreciated both the home and a lot of the attractions in the area which make Valsolda really special! We love helping people discover the hidden out-of-the-way spots which can make your holiday a unique experience. -Molly
It was a true pleasure to meet you, and your daughters as well; we are so glad that you enjoyed your stay and we genuinely hope to welcome you again here to Valsolda and to Casa Rosabella! ~ Molly and Giovanni
Albogasio Superiore is a quiet medieval village perched on a hill overlooking Lake Lugano, with a breathtaking view of both the lake and of the Alps. The city of Lugano, Switzerland is only a 10 minute’s drive away, while Lake Como (Menaggio) can be reached in 30 minutes. Most of Albogasio can be explored only on foot, with ancient narrow alleys, stone steps, and stone buildings providing the backdrop for walking discovery. In the small square, next to the historic Villa Salve, there is the old wash-fountain. In the surrounding area there are many hiking possibilities, and at a half hour’s walk on the main road one can reach the village of Castello. On the lake there is the charming border village of Oria, where one can visit the Villa Fogazzaro, where the noted Italian writer and poet Antonio Fogazzaro wrote and situated one of his most important works, “Piccolo Mondo Antico” (The Little World of the Past). Consequently, many places from the novel may be visited in person. The villa is now owned by the Italian organization FAI, which is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of many historic Italian buildings. Both Albogasio and Oria have publicly accessible areas for swimming, and lake tours by boat with the Swiss Navigation are available, departing from Oria. In the area other activities such as hiking, fishing, horse riding, and wind surfing are available, as well as shopping and visiting beautiful churches and museums.
