The condo was dirty but we loved the resort

  • 3 of 5

We stayed in unit 813 on The 8th floor. The person cleaning this condo should be fired asap. The second we walked in the door all we could smell was a very strong marijuana smell. There's no way it could have been from the people who had stayed last since it was still so strong 5 hours after they would had left. The floor was disgusting, completely covered in sand. We had to use a broom and a vacuum to get up all of the sand ( I understand it's on the beach but it was A LOT sand ) underneath the master bed was a pair of socks lotion and clumps of sand. You can tell someone just keeps sweeping it under the bed. I took a towel to get up some water that was on The floor and it was almost black. I was completely disgusted. I'm not really sure what The cleaning fee was for. If anything I should be paid for actually cleaning The condo. The worst part was I'm 99% sure no sheets were changed. When we got into bed the first night we realized we were sleeping in a bed full of sand. Same goes for the bunk beds and not just like they got washed with some sandy stuff but like people got into bed with extremely sandy feet. When I took the blankets off the bed you could just see the sand falling onto the floor. We ended up getting blankets and just sleeping on top of the comforters. By the end of our trip there was harldly any sand in the condo from cleaning it up myself. We spent lots of time on The beach , shell island , and with 2 little ones we were able to keep The sand from being all over. The bathroom ceiling is covered in black mold a long with mold in corners of the bath that you can tell havnt been cleaned in some time. My kids also found old food in the cubbies of the bunk beds. The ceiling texture in The kitchen is falling down. I don't know if The management company just hasn't been to The condo in a while or if they just don't care but I was very disappointed. The only thing that was done was we got clean towels and toilet paper. We did not let these things get in the way of a good time but it definitely could have been cleaned better. It also says that you use a door code and there is NO KEY but that is a lie. Most of the condos have a key pad to open the door but this one has a little box that holds the key and you have to use that. As far as the resort, it was great . Elevator took some time but not horrible for a resort that size. I would not stay in this condo again but I would stay in another condo at the resort.

Great location, beach, pools. Building could use some maintenance.

  • 4 of 5

We loved the location, the beach and the pools. The second floor is need for the elevator. The condo unit itself was okay.

The unit could use more attention to cleaning like the floors could use a good scrub, cleaning in corners and such. The unit could be better maintained... bathroom ceilings need repair, walls need fresh paint and living room furniture upholstery needs cleaning. My family had a great time and the price was more than reasonable. We would stay here again.

This property was awful and doesn't deserve any stars it was required. Never stay here!

This condo was the worst. It was dirty and in ill repair. The king bed was horrible, apparently the owner tried to improve it by putting 2 queen sized eggshell mattresses on top. It was the most uncomfortable bed I have ever fallen into - and could not get back out! There was 4 towels for 4 people and no blankets. We had to make a run to Walmart to buy both.

The floor was gross, we had to wear our shoes 100% of the time. The toilet would not flush and the water backed up in the sink and tub - disgusting! The slide glass door to the patio was so hard to open, only my husband could open it.

We could not figure out what the burning smell was coming from the vent for the first 3 days then realized it was the exhaust from the snack bar right below us.

We were in the second floor, which was the reason we selected this unit - to avoid long lines at the elevator. However we were surprised to learn the trash and maintenance staff was right outside our window. The started banging the huge trash dumpsters at 6:30am and it lasted until 10:30am. There was no chance of sleeping in.

The rental agent was of no help and gave us the run around for 4 days. I requested some type of refund. She said she was not authorized to do that, and would not give me the number or last name of "John" the booking agent, who was authorized . She finally told us Thursday we would be refunded for any days we didn't use - we left the following morning.

This was the most stressful unrelaxing vacation we have ever experienced. We ended our vacation early due to the Summitt. We will never return and will never use Emerald Coast Rentals again.

A Vacation is not without it's challenges.

  • 4 of 5

We were booked to stay at The Summit arriving on Saturday, 9/17/16. As we were packing the car getting ready for the drive down, we received a phone call from Emerald Coast Rentals (Paula) who stated that the owner of the Summit Condo we had rented had decided to stay there during our vacation. She told us that she could place us in another unit at The Summit or she could upgrade us to Gulf Crest at no charge. That was a no-brainer, although we had never stayed at Gulf Crest, we decided to take the upgrade. For the most part, our stay at Gulf Crest was amazing. The property is beautiful...the view is stunning....the unit was nice. Our stay was not without its challenges......when we received the confirmation email from Emerald Coast Rentals (Paula), we noticed that Gulf Crest charges a $20.00 fee a check-in for the parking pass & arm bands. We called Paula and she stated "Oh yeah, I forgot about that....we will refund you the $20.00 by Monday or Tuesday". When we arrived and went into the unit, we heard a beeping sound in the kitchen coming from the stove. There was an F7 error code that was displayed on the front at the oven controls. I called Emerald Coast Rentals and was told that "someone" may have tried to interrupt the cleaning cycle and that I should turn off the breaker to the stove for 20 minutes and see if that fixes it. No worries, it's day 1 and the family was anxious to look around and get to the beach. After being gone for a couple of hours, I returned and turned the breaker back on......beep, beep, beep "F7" error code. I called Emerald Coast Rentals to report that their recommendation had not worked and I did have use of the top burners; however, no oven controls answer, so I left a message. Sunday comes...I leave another message...Monday...another message. Tuesday, late in the afternoon....Hallelujah, a repair man. After about 45 minutes of checking, he "fixes" the ribbon that was supposed to be the problem. Oven seems to be working!!! He hadn't been gone 10 minutes from the unit...beep, beep, beep "F7" error code. I quickly called Emerald Coast Rentals to see if they could catch him...No Answer!! I left message that the oven had the same problem. Wednesday, I leave another message & I notice that I have not received my $20.00 refund so I mentioned that in the message. Thursday, another message. Friday. one last message...and I finally get the $20.00 credit!!! Come on ECR! You can do better!!
