Fabulous views and a great base for exploring the Basque region.

The apartment is spacious and well equipped and the views of the surrounding countryside were fantastic. The owner and her family were very welcoming and friendly. There is a good supermarket called Eroski not far from the property. Oñati is a lovely town and we went to two restaurants during our stay. Lapikogorri Gastroteka is a casual bar/restaurant that served great Pinxtos. The second was a smart restaurant (about a 20 minute walk) at a hotel situated on a hill overlooking Oñati called Torre Zumeltzegi. Excellent food and good value for money. We visited Bilbao, San Sebastian, Hondarribia and Guernica. Our favourite day was probably the last day when we went walking in the hills. We started the walk at the Arantzazu Sanctuary which is about 9km from Oñati. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Basque country and would definitely recommend staying here.

Wonderful penthouse apartment with a fantastic view

The apartment and the place exceeded our expectations by far. The apartment is exactly as stated a beautiful, newly renovated penthouse with a view of mountains to all sides. The pool is also newly renovated and very nice. The host family is very nice and helpful. The nearby town of Onati is also charming. So, in all, highly recommendable.

A Great Place to Stay

The apartment is a fantastic place to stay, very well appointed and comfortable - dishwasher, washing machine, fantastic range of plates and wonderful wine glasses - everything you might need for a great holiday. The owner and family we very kind and helpful.

We didn't have very hot weather this year so didn't spend much time by the pool, but it is a lovely relaxed place. The apartment has a great balcony with table to sit and gaze at the mountain view.

Onati is a quiet place but has bars and a nice supermarket. Close by are the caves and monastery which are interesting to visit. The hills and mountains around have lots of walking paths. If walking is your thing, this is a great place to stay.

Onati is close enough to Bilbao and Vitoria-Gastiez for easy day trips and both are well worth visiting, especially Vitoria-Gastiez. Access to the whole of the region is easy with the motorway 5-10 minutes easy drive.

I would wholeheartedly recommend this as a place to relax and unwind

Fantastic holiday

Beautifully appointed apartment with glorious views. Pool ideal for swimming lengths or just playing, with spacious grounds for relaxing or kicking a ball. Owner very helpful pre-stay and family were very welcoming once we'd arrived. Located within easy drive of the Basque country's cities, sights and amazing coastline and beaches. Would highly recommend.

This apartment was great

This apartment was great. It has all you need and a great view over Onati on one side and the mountains on the other from a private outdoor terrace. The kitchen and bath is very new and modern. We had 7 days here with trips to nearby Onati, mountains and caves. The beach in San Sebastian is only 1 hour away, and so is the Wine district of Rioja (more or less). When you come home the nice pool is very refreshing. We have never been to Spain before, but if this hospitality is normal we would definitely come back. We had the best week.
