Located just four miles from Downtown Durango, in the stunning Animas Valley, our quiet woodsy retreat offers you privacy, comfort and easy access to the area's great activities. Satellite TV, free WiFi, fresh coffee and herbal teas tempt you to settle in for a cozy stay, but there's so much to do! We're located on a county road with world class golfing (Dalton Ranch) and rejuvenating hot springs (Trimble) just five minutes from your door. Durango's best bakery (Bread) is about a mile away, and is open for early risers! Best of all, it's completely quiet here - no 6 am Train whistles, no sirens, no in-town traffic. Our home is tucked into the forest against the base of red rock cliffs; out your back door you may see deer, elk, wild turkeys and an occasional silent coyote wander by.
Durango offers days (years!) of exploring: the best-known actvities are the 1880's Siverton Train; World Heritage Site Mesa Verde National Park, and the excellent winter skiing at Durango Mountain Resort. But there's so much more: hundreds of miles of hiking and biking trails, a river winding through the Animas Valley that's perfect for rafting and tubing, and dozens of shops and restaurants that reward your senses after full days of fun. We have world-class artists and artisans in Southwest Colorado and their best work is on display right here. Restaurants range from the simple to absolutely gourmet(disclaimer: we own the popular Cyprus Cafe, known best for creative, local, healthy cuisine).
Plan on a few relaxing days with us - remember, the longer you stay, the less you spend each night! Settle in and slow down; your mind and body will thank you.
This was my 3rd year to stay for a month. I love the peacefulness. It is in the country away from traffic noise but close enough to town so as to make quick trips to do shopping. Great bicycling on country roads and good golf courses are real close. The accommodations are are comfortable and clean.
My husband and I really appreciated having a comfortable, peaceful place to stay during our vacation in Durango. This place is out in the country a bit, but close enough that it was easy to get into town and get around quickly. It was quiet and nice to have a retreat each night away from the hub-bub of the downtown area in the middle of summer. It was also a treat to be able to sleep with the windows open at night! Everything was clean and we had everything we needed for our stay. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again if our travels ever take us back to Durango.
Lovely room with everything we needed, including a comfy and safe home for our dog. Very comfortable bed, beautiful shower -- clean, tidy, and very quiet except for the welcome sounds of the crickets and the creek. We had a wonderful four-night stay. Don't miss Bread's yummy baked treats a few miles away.
I absolutely loved my stay here! The area is gorgeous and the snow made it seem magical. Alison is friendly and helpful with suggestions for things to do. I highly recommend this great little place!😊
Alison is a wonderful host! She made my wife and I feel right at home. Provided everything we could have hoped for. This great studio apartment is backed up to the amazing outdoors. My wife was welcomed by her favorite sound of owls hooting as soon as we arrived. There's no need to turn on the air, just open the windows and let Colorado keep you cool. Our only regret was not being able to visit Alison's wonderful cafe everyone was talking about. Luckily, we're moving to Durango and will be able to frequent as often as we like!
We loved our stay in this simple studio just outside of Durango. The room was very big and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was on the small side, but what more do you need other than the essentials? The water temperature and pressure on the shower was perfect. The property had a beautiful little waterfall that we could hear at night. We stayed during a rather hot weekend in Durango, but with the air conditioner and opening the windows at night, we were very comfortable. The nice thing is this property is nestled within the trees next to a cliff on the east side of town, so it doesn't get direct hot morning sun and is protected from the hot afternoon sun too.
I don't see a reason why we'd stay anywhere else while in Durango.
