Joan was a great host. Very responsive and went above and beyond in making sure we felt comfortable in the home and the area.

Great President's Day weekend

  • 5 of 5

Four families shared the house for a long weekend. We had a great time. Joan was extremely responsive and thorough. She shared information about the house and surrounding area. The house is large with plenty of space for adults and kids. The one tricky part was not having 4 large beds (queens) for all the couples--there are SO many single beds, but one couple had to sleep in the trundle and one in a double bed in order to sleep together. Probably not an issue if you don't mind sleeping apart, but since there was not bedroom "equality" 2 couples got larger rooms and two got smaller rooms.

The kitchen was amazing--having two refrigerators was so helpful and there was everything you could possibly need to cook. I loved that there were so many plates, bowls, etc. Often in a rental there are very few items to eat on/serve with and this was not the case in JOan's house. The hot tub was great. We all enjoyed using it. The pool table/ping pong table was used by kids and adults.

Location was fantastic--15/20 minutes to Okemo and to Woodstock. We had one non ski day where we walked around town, etc.

The best part was how stocked this house was--so many extra towels, pillows, paper goods, soap. It was such a pleasure to stay there.

Had a great time at this beautiful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This was an amazing house. We stay here for 3 nights and it was great! It had everything that you needed. Totally enough beds to go around for everyone. Literally, all you need to bring is clothing. The pictures do not do it justice in terms of size. The house is fairly big with a lot of living space. Only complaint is that the internet was not up to pare. Everyone kept getting dropped and there is no phone service. However, if being unplugged from the world is your thing, this is the place to do it. Joan was great as well. She got my everything I needed in a responsible timeframe. Would definitely stay here again.

Excellent experience for 9 adults and 5 children

  • 5 of 5

As advertised, there was everything at the house, except food and drink which we brought. The house was very clean and well maintained. The 5 children enjoyed sleeping together in the 5 bed bedroom. Plenty of comfortable sleeping available for the adults. All the amenities, hot tub (very clean), ping pong, foosball, darts, etc were heavily used.

The wood stove heated the main room very well, and was well stocked with seasoned wood.

The 10 skiers skied every day at Okemo which was a short 15 minute trip from the house.

The 4 non-skiers made a 20 mile trip to Quechee, where they enjoyed a visit to Simon Pearce, a restaurant and glass bowing facility located next to a waterfall. The glass products availble for purchase were pricey, but beautiful. They also visited Calvin Coolidge's Estate which was very close to the house.

Breakfast was the only meal ate out at THE CAFE AT DE-LIGHT in Ludlow which was very good.

I will strongly recommend The Snowy Owl Farmhouse to relatives and friends.

Excellent cabin for a winter getaway with a large group!

  • 5 of 5

I organize an outdoor adventure group in NYC and was looking for a cabin around Killington for a group of ~16. Even before we arrived, Joan was excellent with communication and sent information in a timely manner. Upon arriving, the cabin was exactly what was advertised. There is plenty of room and beds and could easily sleep more than we had in the group. All the rooms, especially the kitchen, were well furnished and stocked with the basics. As if this wasn't enough, there is a game room downstairs and a hot tub. Everything is labeled and there are clear instructions how to use certain pieces of equipment (ie: hot tub, wood burning stove). Overall, if you are looking for a great cabin for a large group with all the amenities, look no further.

Map

Perfectly situated between Okemo and Killington, the two best ski mountains in Vermont, makes an ideal location for winter and summer fun. The mountains offer all the winter sports and in the summer they have the great golf courses, water slide, and mountain bike riding on top of Killington. The house is on a snowmobile trail and next to a state park for hiking, mountain biking, x-country skiing, pan for gold and find ruins or you can take a long walk over to the Calvin Coolidge Homestead. Minutes away are the lakes for swimming, boating and fishing. Ten to fifteen minutes can put you on Long Trail or take you to beautiful Woodstock with its Billings Farm Museum, art galleries, fine restaurants, and shops. Also close to Appalachian Trail and rock climbing. In the other direction (30 min+) is the charming village of Weston with its country stores, Inns for fine dining and the Weston Playhouse. Come in the fall and enjoy the beautiful foliage. A great area to come to play or relax.

Other Activities: Also X-country ski, snowmobile, pan for gold, find old ruins, rock-climb, downhill ski, snowshoe, hike, antique shops, golf, water slides, bungee thin

Golf: Near Killington Golf, Woodstock and Okemo courses.

Ski: The house is between Okemo-Jackson Gore and Killington. Also close, Suicide Six and Pico.
