My husband and I purchased the lot in 2005 with excitement beyond belief. We actively started designing around some very strick guidelines and restrictions. In the end I believe we achieved a very nice product with his building skills and my artistic talents. You'll find unusual details throughout the home and my paintings on the walls.
Jennifer purchased this house in 2006
We built our home at Stinson beach in 2005. Stinson Beach was a natural choice and had a long history for our families. My husband and I grew up going to Stinson either after school, with our families for holiday, and then later for family reunions bringing our kids. There is so much to do- walk/run the beach, swim, surf- board or body, sunbath, hike the fabulous trails, kayak the lagoon, relax, and the list goes on.
We feel very fortunate to have found this lot with the ability to build a simple but stylish home that serves many travelers.
The beauty of the beach, the sound of the waves crashing, the intimate neighborhood community, close to town for a stroll to dinner, near the town market, fabulous sunsets. You get the best of both worlds that Stinson has to offer- the beach but also the mountain!! The famed Dipsea Trail, majestic Matt Davis Trail just outside our door. Gorgeous sunsets, collecting shells, flying kites, building sand castles...............
Great location with views galore. This property is well kept and clean. Parking is onsite. One may have to do some serious research to get a better place to stay. Yes, I would stay there again.
This house lives up to being the #1 Rated best place to stay at Stinson Beach!
It's well designed, clean, spacious, well equipped, excellent location, responsive owners...
It has everything you want in a place. I hope to go back! Thanks Jennifer!
Our family loved this beautiful home and it's views. It had everything we needed and our two small kids did great. We cooked several meals. If I asked in advance I wouldn't have needed to pick up a pack-n-play (Jen said one is there). The stairs or hills didn't bother us. We loved walking to the beach. We drove once and found we spent more time finding parking. The local restaurants are tasty and axon adapting for kids. We spent 3 nights here and felt like we could use one more. It's serene, even with kids.
We loved our stay in this house! We particularly liked the modern design and open floor plan - it worked great for our family of 4. The kitchen is quite nice and very well equipped, and it was also convenient having a separate area to hang out in and watch a movie in the evening. We thought the location was great as well - just a short walk down the hill to the beach. We hope to return again!
We loved this house! My two boys (8 and 10) stayed here with a family friend and it was perfect for the 4 of us. It has an amazing view from TWO decks (one outside the master BR and one outside the living area) and is just up the hill from the main entrance to the beach parking area and main drag in Stinson. You drive right by the grocery there as you go up to the house or down to the beach - very convenient! Probably the only thing that was less than ideal was that there are a lot of steps up from where you park your car to get into the house - so be ready to schlep your stuff. But that didn't turn out to be a problem for us as we had plenty of hands to help :) The house is clean and modern, appliances were all great, including the gas grill in the back. Sitting on the bed with my boys in the loft area with the views out of all the windows where the twin beds are was so lovely in the am. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to friends!
This property meant all the demands of our family. Having the two full bathrooms, especially the one on the lower level is a real plus. The open layout, functional furnishings and superb views were another plus.
The unit was very clean. This property owner was most receptive to our needs. When the sofa bed was not functioning, owner provided a twin mattress for our daughter, which was placed in the living room area.
My few recommendations include:
Advise ahead of time, or include in rental verbage
bring a 6 or 8 roll supply of septic brand toilet paper.
bring a roll of paper towels
bring 2 small bottles of liquid hand soap for both bathrooms
I would recommend buying a silicon spatula for this unit as this is needed with the teflon pots and frying pans. I did find a wooden one but a flat wide one would be easier for flipping pancakes and eggs.
A set of unbreakable glasses for younger guests. Maybe a set of 4 dinner plates, bowls, and salad plates would be perfect.
Corner grocery stocks all your needs, in case you decide not to bring perishables and non-perishables with you.
Parkside Restaurant is perfect spot of dinner. We had dinner there on evenings. Reservations recommended.
Bakery, which opens at 10a is a must go to spot for buying bread, breakfast pastries, and other odds and ends. Coffee kiosk in same area makes perfect coffee. The walk up and down from the complex justifies eating that fattening breakfast chocolate croissant, or other Danish of your choice.
Daughter and grandkids went horseback riding. Daughter said it was an excellent facility with great guides and horses. Plan for a 2 hour morning ride, 9am start, and do make reservations. We drove to Marshalls to Hog Island Oyster Farm to bring back oysters for appetizers. Also stopped in Pt. Reyes on return from Marshalls to go to their large grocery for odds and ends, and bakery across the street for morning pastries. Their rasberry brumble is must have.
A long 1 1/2 hour drive to the UC Davis oceanography site in tip top of Pt. Reyes. Tours provided only on Fridays only from 2 - 4pm.
Of course the beach is a plus. Daughter rented boogie boards for 11 year old grandson to ride the waves. 14 year old granddaughter and daughter enjoyed sitting and relaxing on the beach.
I would not hesitate to return to this property and would strongly recommend it to friends and clients. As a professional travel agent, I am careful with places I stay and recommend.
