Serenity off the beaten path
About rhonda lewis
I'm a lifelong Alaskan, who grew up in Anchorage, always considering Fairbanks, the rival city. However after working in Fairbanks and the villages of interior AK, I fell in love. I love the warm summers & cold winters. I've moved away a couple different times, but always became homesick & had to return. There is something to the mountains that appeals to me. A lot of people come to see Denali, I myself prefer the Wrangell-St Elias range out of Glennallen. I have spent several years working remote area's of AK. I enjoy traveling extensively and meeting new people from all walks of life. I enjoy photography and love car museums. Reading, especially in the winter. I rarely watch tv and have spent years without one. Due to an injury I now work in Anchorage behind a desk instead of in the field, but I spend most of my time off enjoying Fairbanks. I like real & non pretentious people and am blessed to have friends all over the country from all walks of life. I stay here as frequently as possible, but I also wanted a way to earn extra income and allow other people to enjoy Alaska's beauty at a reasonable price.
rhonda lewis purchased this House in 2011
Why rhonda lewis chose Fairbanks
I bought this property, because I liked the somewhat remote out of town location as it's very peaceful. I didn't want to live off the grid though and go back to using an outhouse. I continue to work on remodeling the property. I also like it being on the outer loop of Fairbanks, so it's quick & easy to get on the highway from either direction. Then it's a straight shot north or south depending on what you want to see/do. I like the rugged look and try to keep the place natural, not liking the manicured look. I get frequent animal visitors, mainly moose, fox, rabbit, an occasional bear. The yard blooms with wild roses & fireweed around the edges. I like to have occasional dinner parties here, you can make more noise and have more freedom then you can in an apartment or city setting. Just follow the basic rules of common courtesy and respect for neighbors not on vacation. Neighbors tend to keep to themselves and we generally respect each other's privacy and space.
What makes this House unique
This location gives me serenity, I like to sit in the living room and watch the snowfall. I like the close proximity to the bike path and the Double Eagle restaurant. I like it being close to the roadway without being right on the road. I enjoy being surrounded by trees, and the quietness, compared to living in the city.

Quiet little sleeper
Easy to get to, easy to access with provided information and quiet little place for being close to main roadway.
Quiet, clean and well equipped
The rental is half a duplex but the other half enters from a completely different driveway. We didn't hear anything from the neighbors. It has a nice big garage that I didn't think we would use much but it was handy to just drive up, hit the opener and drive in, so we used it every day.
The unit was well equipped with everything you might expect in a house including a gas grill. Thanks to Rhonda for leaving a folder with all the owners manuals for the appliances. She even offered to leave us bear spray in addition to insect repellant.
That little place was so cozy and quiet. It was a duplex, but we never heard our neighbors, and the unit had everything we needed. Very convenient and cozy, just like home. We really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this place to others....and also would return in the future.
thank you Juanita, I hope you make it back up here.. You were great guests
Perfect retreat for our Christmas
We decided to spend our Christmas in Fairbanks/North Pole. This little place was perfect. The garage was super handy, and was big enough to keep our crew cab pickup out of the negative double digits. The house was extremely well equipped from linens, to towels, and kitchen items. We were able to make our prime rib Christmas dinner easily with how well stocked the kitchen was with pots, pans, and appliances. The location of the house was perfect, far enough out of town for some quiet privacy, yet within about 10 mins of everything we wanted to do. The bedrooms had TV’s, which my son enjoyed watching kids shows in bed. The last big plus for us was the property was pet friendly. We brought our 2 standard poodles, and was able to celebrate Christmas with our entire family. The communication with the property owner was great, she provided us with detailed arrival, departure, and general information, as well as a list of activities to do while we were in town. Overall an awesome experience, a Christmas we will all remember.
Thank you. I appreciate your family taking such great care of my place. I would recommend your family to other vacation owners!
Clean, comfortable and considerate
The house is clean and comfortable. We stayed for four days and everything was great. The pre-travel instructions prepared by Rhonda are very helpful. We were also thankful that Rhonda kindly left a bottle of bear spray for us, though it was never used. A great house, nice journey and wonderful people!
Great location away from the city, but easy drive to everything. Plenty of extras in the fridge .
Super for a family. We really enjoyed having our own.bedroom for three nights. Rhonda gave me good advise as to what to pack and do near Fairbanks. It felt like I had a local friend in Alaska.
Thank you Joni.
