Northern Michigan Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

If you are looking for the quintessential 'Up North' experience, you have found it. Perched on top of a gradual hill overlooking Suttons Bay, our cottage sits on 5 wooded acres. While relaxing on our 212' feet of private shoreline you will feel like the Bay is yours alone. You can enjoy panoramic views of Old Mission Peninsula and Stony Point, and take in the natural beauty of Northern Michigan in complete privacy.

At roughly 1,400 square feet our cottage is large enough for as many as 8 people, but cozy enough for one couple. The cabin is very quaint, with original oak floors, knotty pine walls throughout, and a wonderful sunroom. A floor-to-ceiling wood burning fireplace is a great way to top off the evening and enjoy the cottage's atmosphere. Also be witness to a rich variety of wildlife, including a family of swans, loons, ducks, and even the occasional bald eagle.

Enjoy our outdoor amenities, including three sea kayaks; a rowboat; and a professionally installed mooring anchor for your boat. A swimmer friendly dock, large sandy beach, bay-side fire pit, and horseshoe pit, round off the front yard features. And if you want to see the peninisula, you can use our two mountain bikes.

This charming original log cabin restores the nostalgia of your Up North memories. It is truly your home away from home.

Why The Owner chose Northern Michigan

Our family purchased this cottage over 40 years ago for its privacy and quality beachfront.

What makes this cabin unique

This property is truly unique for its amenties, privacy, and size. The cottage is nestled neatly atop a small grassy bluff overlooking an enormous front yard and over 210' of direct Grand Traverse Bay frontage. Enjoy a morning coffee in the sunporch, then walk down to the dock and push off into the Bay for a leisurely kayak ride. Lay out on our very large sand area during the day, where kids have plenty of room to build sand castles and play. Or take a bike ride anywhere in the pennisula with our mountain bikes. You can also relax on a hammock in the cool shade of a wonderful cedar grove. At night, build a big bonfire in the firepit.

Perfect Spot to Get Away

  • 5 of 5

Just got home from our trip up to Suttons Bay and Harry's Dreamcatcher property was great! My sister, brother in law and 9 year old nephew from Nashville TN came to visit my wife and I. We grabbed our 12lb Papillon and headed up to Suttons Bay. We arrived at the property on Sunday and just hung out at the cabin, paddled around on their kayaks, laid around on the hammock and made a fire and ate some S'mores! The yard is HUGE and had plenty of room to throw the football around, play some catch, and even try to fly a kite. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, with Bunk Beds, my nephew loved the bunk beds! Cable TV and Wi-Fi with leather couches and one chair in the family room was plenty of room for us. Loved the chimney/fireplace in the middle of the cabin and we ate breakfast on the HUGE country table in the sunroom and watched the sun come up on the water every morning. You are about 2 miles north of town, so you have the peace and quiet of being on a couple acres of serenity and a short hop down the street to town for food, drink, shopping, and ICE CREAM! Thanks to Harry for everything and we plan to be back next year!

Once again, the perfect lakeside vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Dreamcatcher, and we enjoyed every minute of it. We went from May 12-18, and while the weather was still a bit chilly, the bay was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed relaxing in the sunroom, and on the hammock. We cottage was the perfect location for our day trips to Leland, winery trails, Northport, and of course Traverse City. We tried a few different restaurants this time- loved 9 Bean Rows & Boone's Tavern in Suttons Bay, as well as Bistro FouFou in TC and the BoatHouse on Old Misson peninsula. Don't miss 9 Bean Rows bakery- it isn't far from the cottage & it was so nice to have fresh baked goods and bread from there. Can't wait for our next visit to the cottage!

Perfect Family Vaction

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Dreamcatcher for our Anniversary during February 2015 (see previous 5-star review) in advance of our two week vacation this summer with our 2 children, 3 grandparents and our dog. In short, our vacation here was a wonderful experience for all and we look forward to coming back. This cottage, and the property it sits on, is nothing short of spectacular and its location is very convenient to everything the Leelanau Peninsula has to offer. The cottage has all of the modern amenities you would expect and the layout makes it very comfortable and affords ample privacy for all - it is spacious, yet cozy. We spent much of our time in the sun room, where we had our meals and played games, and on the deck enjoying the million dollar view of the bay. The back yard is huge and we all enjoyed spending time on the sandy beach and in the water swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, boating and jet skiing. The dock and the professionally installed mooring ball were a definite plus for us, since we brought our boat and a jet ski. Importantly, you will find the owner to be very responsive, helpful and easy to deal with. We have stayed at a number of properties on the Leelanau Peninsula over the years and in our opinion, Dreamcatcher stands head and shoulders above the rest. We could not have been happier with our choice and are grateful for the quality time we were able to spend and the memories we made as a family here this summer at this fantastic property. What a find!

Beautiful and Peaceful setting for extended family vacation

  • 5 of 5

The Dreamcatcher was the perfect place for our extended family vacation. We had a total of 7 adults (3 couples and one single) and our dog and this 4 bedroom, 2 bath house was large enough to allow everyone to have privacy when desired. The beds are very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped and the large table on the enclosed porch facing the bay was perfect for sharing meals together. We had a fire in the pit down by the lake nearly every night, kayaked on the bay, played crochet on the large lawn, rode bikes on the Leelanau trail to Traverse City and took a day trip to Sleeping Bear Lakeshore. The owner was very easy to work with. Very prompt responses to questions on vrbo and called our first morning there to make sure everything was ok. Lovely Bay view and the stars at night are amazing. We will definitely consider returning in the future if we have the opportunity.

Quintessential, up north 2-family vacation

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from our fantastic, 2nd stay at the house. We've found the Dreamcatcher is perfect for 2 families with kids to share (house basically has 2 separate bed/bath wings). The house is equipped with every modern comfort (AC, heat, hot showers, super comfy beds & linens, nice kitchen appliances, large living & dining area for group games and meals, WIFI, cable, large deck) yet has that classic, "up north" feel (peaked ceiling, hard wood floors, wood paneling, skylights, large working stone fireplace/hearth, and lots of great seating to enjoy outdoor fire pit). The HUGE yard and long boat dock cannot be beat! Very private yet close to Sutton's Bay-- perfect! Owner is wonderfully easy to work with.

Our First Family Getaway at Dreamcatcher

  • 5 of 5

This was to be the first complete family get - together since the addition of our grandkids. WE had planned before but something always prevented this from happening. The property is amazing. Every need was met and with 8 people that was not an easy task. We actually sat and had meals, boated, collected shells, hiked, all together! We enjoyed Suttons Bay with all the friendly shops and great food. I will definitely put this cabin on my return list and hope we make it back. As one of the previous reviewers stated the pictures do not give you a true feel of what this place has to offer.

Map

Located in the heart of Michigan's wine country! Leelanau County is home to dozens of wineries - all within minutes of the cottage. Great trails for hiking in the summer, or cross-country skiing/snowshoeing in the winter. It's the perfect location that provides a lot of privacy, but also accessibility to great shopping and eateries in the Village of Suttons Bay.
