Suttons Bay Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Sunroom, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

If you are looking for the quintessential 'Up North' experience, you have found it. Perched on top of a gradual hill overlooking Suttons Bay, our cottage sits on 5 wooded acres. While relaxing on our 212' feet of private shoreline you will feel like the Bay is yours alone. You can enjoy panoramic views of Old Mission Peninsula and Stony Point, and take in the natural beauty of Northern Michigan in complete privacy.

At roughly 1,400 square feet our cottage is large enough for as many as 8 people, but cozy enough for one couple. The cabin is very quaint, with original oak floors, knotty pine walls throughout, and a wonderful sunroom. A floor-to-ceiling wood burning fireplace is a great way to top off the evening and enjoy the cottage's atmosphere. Also be witness to a rich variety of wildlife, including a family of swans, loons, ducks, and even the occasional bald eagle.

Enjoy our outdoor amenities, including three sea kayaks; a rowboat; and a professionally installed mooring anchor for your boat. A swimmer friendly dock, large sandy beach, bay-side fire pit, and horseshoe pit, round off the front yard features. And if you want to see the peninisula, you can use our two mountain bikes.

This charming original log cabin restores the nostalgia of your Up North memories. It is truly your home away from home.

Why The Owner chose Northern Michigan

Our family purchased this cottage over 40 years ago for its privacy and quality beachfront.

What makes this cabin unique

This property is truly unique for its amenties, privacy, and size. The cottage is nestled neatly atop a small grassy bluff overlooking an enormous front yard and over 210' of direct Grand Traverse Bay frontage. Enjoy a morning coffee in the sunporch, then walk down to the dock and push off into the Bay for a leisurely kayak ride. Lay out on our very large sand area during the day, where kids have plenty of room to build sand castles and play. Or take a bike ride anywhere in the pennisula with our mountain bikes. You can also relax on a hammock in the cool shade of a wonderful cedar grove. At night, build a big bonfire in the firepit.

Terrific Summer Getaway for an Active Family!

  • 5 of 5

My family of 5 spent a relaxing and enjoyable week at the Dreamcatcher this summer. My school aged boys loved jumping off the dock and building on the sandy beach. We all enjoyed kayaking in Sutton's Bay and biking the terrific trails all the way to Traverse City.

The cabin was clean and had everything we needed to relax. The wide, grassy yard allowed plenty of room to play football, wiffleball and more.

Our two labradors joined us on the trip. They swam daily and happily watched ducks swim by from the expansive deck. The homeowner was responsive to our questions. We hope to return to the Dreamcatcher again!

A Taste of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5

The DreamCatcher has everything anyone could possibly want or need and more! Fantastic setting overlooking the Bay, beautiful sunrises to watch and countless stars to see at night while having a fire in a big fire pit. All the wood is provided and nice outdoor furniture to sit on while enjoying the fire.

There's a huge front porch with a big table for playing games or eating or just enjoying the view of the water.

All the linens are furnished and they are wonderful! All the linens are of the highest quality which is unusual for a cottage. These are beautiful! The beds are very comfortable and again the bedding is so clean and of great quality.

You really don't have to bring anything from home except your clothes and toiletries. Everything else is there for you to use. Shampoo, soap, dish washer detergent, laundry detergent. Great Oster toaster and Cuisinart coffee maker, microwave and charcoal grill and lots of games and a big screen TV.

Suttons Bay is such a quaint down town and only about a mile and a half from the DreamCatcher. Cute shops and good restaurants. LOTS of wineries to tour near by and only a couple of miles from a really nice casino. SO many great things to do we needed to stay longer.

It's the quietest, most beautiful place ever and it definitely is a "taste of heaven" It's WONDERFUL and Harry is the greatest!

Wonderful cottage for a relaxing family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Upon arrival to the cottage we were very impressed with the large, scenic backyard with a wide variety of activities available. My family stayed in the cottage with 6 adults and 3 small children and had plenty of room to move around. The dining table fit everyone perfectly and offered an amazing view of the lake. The yard had everything necessary for a perfect family vacation. We enjoyed laying in the hammock, playing horseshoes, sitting around the fire and of course taking relaxing rides in the kayaks and canoe. Everyone in my family was greatly impressed with the cottage and the Suttons Bay area. We enjoyed visiting the ample selection of wineries and shops in the downtown area. Sleeping Bear National Dunes and Traverse City are just a short drive away. The owner was very friendly and helpful and the house was exactly as described in the listing. I can't wait to return!

Dreamcatcher, dream get away

  • 5 of 5

Had a wonderful stay at DreamCatcher in Sutton's Bay, Mi. Far enough from town to be away from it all, but close enough to get the "town feel". On the lake, kayaking was great, as was the beachfront and dock. The home itself was very spacious and clean. The spacious yard was great for a campfire at night and visiting and looking at the star-lit sky...just beautiful! We had everything we needed for a wonderful weekend away.

Perfect Spot to Get Away

  • 5 of 5

Just got home from our trip up to Suttons Bay and Harry's Dreamcatcher property was great! My sister, brother in law and 9 year old nephew from Nashville TN came to visit my wife and I. We grabbed our 12lb Papillon and headed up to Suttons Bay. We arrived at the property on Sunday and just hung out at the cabin, paddled around on their kayaks, laid around on the hammock and made a fire and ate some S'mores! The yard is HUGE and had plenty of room to throw the football around, play some catch, and even try to fly a kite. 4 bedrooms, 2 baths, with Bunk Beds, my nephew loved the bunk beds! Cable TV and Wi-Fi with leather couches and one chair in the family room was plenty of room for us. Loved the chimney/fireplace in the middle of the cabin and we ate breakfast on the HUGE country table in the sunroom and watched the sun come up on the water every morning. You are about 2 miles north of town, so you have the peace and quiet of being on a couple acres of serenity and a short hop down the street to town for food, drink, shopping, and ICE CREAM! Thanks to Harry for everything and we plan to be back next year!

Once again, the perfect lakeside vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second visit to Dreamcatcher, and we enjoyed every minute of it. We went from May 12-18, and while the weather was still a bit chilly, the bay was beautiful and quiet. We enjoyed relaxing in the sunroom, and on the hammock. We cottage was the perfect location for our day trips to Leland, winery trails, Northport, and of course Traverse City. We tried a few different restaurants this time- loved 9 Bean Rows & Boone's Tavern in Suttons Bay, as well as Bistro FouFou in TC and the BoatHouse on Old Misson peninsula. Don't miss 9 Bean Rows bakery- it isn't far from the cottage & it was so nice to have fresh baked goods and bread from there. Can't wait for our next visit to the cottage!

Map

Located in the heart of Michigan's wine country! Leelanau County is home to dozens of wineries - all within minutes of the cottage. Great trails for hiking in the summer, or cross-country skiing/snowshoeing in the winter. It's the perfect location that provides a lot of privacy, but also accessibility to great shopping and eateries in the Village of Suttons Bay.

Notes:
The cabin is exceptionally private with over five acres of woodlands, and our neighbors lots are just as large. The cabin was built over 80 years ago and while it retains its original natural brick fireplace, wood floors and knotty pine walls, it has all the updated amentites you will need. We have a dock, sandy beach, three sea kayaks, and a row boat. If you have a boat you can store it overnight on our mooring ball in the bay. We also have a horse shoe pit, outdoor firepit, seasoned wood for your use, a perfectly situated outdoor hammock, two mountain bikes, and outdoor games for your use.
