Recently built second floor studio apartment with 6 large windows facing sunset views over Damariscotta River. Located on private road one mile from the downtown of Damariscotta.
The one room apartment combines a full kitchen with bar and all new fixtures, dining and living areas. Pivoting to the southwest there is a commanding view of islands - Home of native seals, nesting terns and eagles.
You may also view Blue Herons, Double Crested Cormorants, Ospreys, and Horseshoe Crabs. Swim on a private beach, fish from a private dock. Canoe available for your use.
We have spent many summers at this beautiful retreat ... a spotless and spacious apartment, overlooking the Damariscotta River. Damariscotta is only a mile away, filled with small shops and a wonderful bookstore. There is so much to do and see and many wonderful restaurants but, most importantly, it is a place where you can enjoy the beauty of Maine. Patsy is a treasure and a most gracious hostess. We know you will want to return year after year.

We've been staying here for eight years. It's the most beautiful place, with lovely amenities, a gorgeous view, and the tranquillity and serenity we have always wanted in Maine. We really feel it's a home away from home, and would never even think of staying anywhere else in the area. Swimming at high tide is exquisite, the views are incomparable, and it's an easy drive to Pemaquid, lobster pounds, and the lovely town of Damariscotta. We love it here.
Spent six days at this lovely place perched on a bluff overlooking Damariscotta River. First ever trip to Maine and was not disappointed. Accomodations were excellent. Secluded at the end of more than half-mile road back to pavement. Very peaceful and quiet. And learned something while there. The sky really is blue when you get away from big-city haze. Landlady was delightful and highly recommend this location to one and all.
And since I am from Alabama, will warn anyone heading there from "down south" to take your own grits.
We spent 3-days in Patsy's "treehouse" and it was fantastic. The views are spectacular and the rental was comfortable and provided us with all of the essentials.
The apartment is spacious, clean and furnished with Maine summertime cheer. Patsy goes out of her way for every guest and is a sweet and helpful landlord. I cannot say enough about how easy she makes the rental process and the location could not be better for the area.
We will definitely return soon and look forward to catching up with our friend Patsy!
I'm just back from a 4-day watercolor workshop in the area and "the treehouse" was perfect for me. The views are spectacular and the rental was comfortable and cozy.
The studio apartment is spacious, decorated beautifully, and very clean. Patsy has thought of everything that a guest may need. As a fellow vacation home rental owner, I would not change a thing!
Location, location, location...this rental is central to anything you may want to do in the area. I would definitely return.
This is an immaculate property that boasts beautiful water views in a tranquil setting, from high among the treetops, while being convenient to town (2 miles by land; less than that, by water).
The apartment is very large, with a sleeping alcove, a living area with small couch, rocker and TV, sitting areas, a table for 4 and a reasonably sized kitchen with bar seating for 2. Sliding doors take you out to a deck with grill and table/chairs; 6 windows bring in lots of natural light with "Maine views" of woods and water and spectacular sunsets over the river. White walls, natural wood floors and trim are accented with lots of color, artwork and a mix of furniture that provides a comfortable and contemporary feel.
Adirondack chairs are placed at strategic site-points or you can bring folding chairs down to the beach, the dock or the rocks. A canoe is available for you to take out whenever you wish. You can explore the nearby island, paddle around many of the hidden coves or go into town or go downriver (just be mindful of the tides and currents).
Newcastle/Damariscotta and the Pemiquid Peninsula have spectacular scenery. Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset, and Rockland/Camden are an easy drive. Portland/Freeport and Acadia will take longer, but are within reach, along with many interesting sights in between. Ferries can take you to Monhegan, Vinalhaven and other locales. The area is studded with points and coves and farms and villages that will keep you busy. There are countless opportunities to hike or stroll; swimming can be done at your own beach on the river or at (still warmer) Damariscotta Lake. Fishing, boating, antiquing, scenic drives, art of all kinds, great restaurants (and lobster pounds) are within easy reach. ....or soak up the environment with a good book (there are bookstores in town and Patsy has provided a few, on the book shelves). Shopping is close with lobster pounds, fish markets, great farm stands, supermarkets, wine & beer, bakeries all nearby.
Patsy is a warm and wonderful host, who will make you feel most welcome and will give you the space you may want. She's knowledgeable about just about everything ...just ask.
We've been here twice and this feels almost like home (without the mortgage). Judging by similar comments in the guest book, others seem to have the same idea.
This is a very nice property in a great part of the state. It's hard to miss. We hope you enjoy it as much as we have.
Enjoy whale watching and Puffin boat watches from nearby New Harbor and Boothbay Harbor. Lake and ocean beaches, boat trip to famous Monhegan Island, church suppers and fairs, local movie theater.

Excellent choice of restaurants and shops. Lots of history and places of interest. Golf just minutes away. Oyster shell middens along the banks of the Damariscotta River.
