Villa On The Hills Of Lucca, 3 Bedrooms, 3 Bathrooms, 1 Sofabed. Sleeps 7 People
This charming farmhouse restored in 2012, was formerly a small cloister dating back to 1700. It is located in the middle of an olive tree grove dominating the valley and the city of Lucca, which lies only 11 km from here. The owner is an interior designer, this is why interiors are refurbished with care and attention to details, using original Tuscan furniture and aiming at the perfect ease of the guests. The days in Lucca will be particularly agreeable thanks to its many attractions and points of interest: the sightseeing of the town, its unique city walls, churches, squares, museums etc. For those who love the sea, in 20 minutes you can reach the sea-side resorts of Versilia, Viareggio, Forte dei Marmi - all renowned for their huge golden shores. For mountain lovers, in only 30 minutes you can be in the Garfagnana area and walk through its ancient villages. Take a chance to visit the cities of art and the most characteristic places of Tuscany (Pisa, Firenze, Siena, Cinque Terre) that are near to Lucca and easy to reach. In case some day you do not want to go anywhere, you can enjoy the impressive terrace, which is definitely the peculiarity of this house, offering the possibility to stay outside in complete relax. A magical place surrounded by nature where everything is like it used to be – only a few ancient houses deep in the stillness of the hills and an enchanting atmosphere due to the magnificent view, outstanding during the day and lovely by night.

A truly wonderful stay
We stayed 11 amazing nights at this charming little house, and couldn't be happier with our choice. Lucca is a beautiful city to visit in its own right, and was also a great home base for exploring the area - we visited Florence, Sienna, Chianti, San Gimignano, Pisa, and Cinque Terre. (tip - the villages of the very-nearby Valle del Serchio are uncrowded and beautiful to visit!) The house was a perfect spot - up in the hills about 15 minutes north of Lucca with spectacular views down into the valley. The house has three bedrooms and is very comfortable. We stayed in the winter and caught the first snow event in the last ten years, so we couldn't enjoy the outdoor space to its full potential, but we still didn't feel too crowded. The kitchen is definitely adequate if you want to cook a bit while you're in the house (we made breakfast most mornings).
Massimo is a truly excellent host. He met us as we got into town and took us up to the house - the house isn't exactly hard to find, but it's up some typically narrow hill lanes, and we were glad not to have to navigate it alone at night. Massimo is very knowledgeable about the area - he helped us find the free lot to park in just outside the walls of Lucca, and had good advice on several of our other destinations. He's also very attentive - he was always available to answer a question, and checked in regularly to make sure everything was perfect with our stay. We did have some mechanical issues (not Massimo's fault), which he was very diligent in resolving right away. One of the best homeshare hosts we've ever stayed with!
Great house, great location, great stay, great host. Couldn't ask for better!
We loved the house! It was everything you could want for a true Tuscan experience.
An excellent experience all around. Massimo was an unbelievable host. He picked up us from the train station and took us grocery shopping. Our first night in Lucca we got lost and couldn't find where we parked our car. Massimo came and took us to our car at night! We had the chef cook for us and it was by far the best Italian meal we have ever had. Well worth the money. The property is georgous. Even in February we sat out on the terrace and enjoyed the sun. You definitely need a car and if you go in the winter be mindful of the need for heat and layering up when going out. Luca is a great city and we took side trips to Monte Carlo, Siena and Florence. Thanks Massimo for an incredible experience.
Beautiful villa and really friendly owner.
The villa really does live up to the photographs and the views are stunning. Massimo is really helpful and friendly. Its an excellent base to explore Tuscany - we would highly recommend!
We (4 widowed ladies) spent 9 nights and 10 days at the Villa situated between the Tuscan hills with the town of Lucca below us in the distance. The villa is beautifully furnished everything immaculate and so tastefully decorated. Massimo is a gem of a host. He met us at the train station and took us grocery shopping before we picked up our car and then drove us to the villa. He organized a chef for us for 2 evenings and we had the most wonderful meal. Paulo the chef was excellent and brought us course after course of the most delicious Tuscan dishes with a different wine for each course. Massimo thank you for a wonderful vacation, we will never forget it, hopefully we will return, next time with our respective families. I did the driving and managed the mountain road without any difficulty. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. Sadie. Arlington Heights Illinois U.S.A
Everything we were looking for!
These pictures are fantastic but you really have to visit this location to experience the incredible beauty of the villa and the surrounding property. Breathtaking views and peacefulness! Our stay there last week was everything we were looking for and much more. We will be recommending this location to friends who are looking for an authentic Italian vacation in the Tuscan countryside.
Thank you Massimo! Your house was charming and exceptionally clean and your recommendations for activities in the area were greatly appreciated.

A great spot in the Tuscan hills
We had a wonderful stay in this house. Our host Massimo could not have been more helpful. He met us at an easily identified landmark, which was easy to find, to take us to the house for the first time (which made it very easy while you got used to it). He gave us great advice on where to park when going to Lucca, helped us organise the best way to see the Cinque Terre, and had excellent suggestions for local restaurants and supermarkets. He was readily available to answer any queries or questions during our stay. He clearly takes his role as a host very seriously.
The house is in a stunning location with views down over Lucca. There were two sitting areas available to take full advantage of the view. The rest of the house was very well equipped even down to having a hair drier in each of the three bathrooms and a couple of English speaking TV news channels.
Our only disappointment was that we only booked the house for a week rather than two weeks, something we will have to remember for our next visit. Thank you.
The city of Lucca boasts some wonderfully charming urban spaces: the most famous of these is surely the Piazza dell'Anfiteatro, built on the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheatre by the architect Lorenzo Nottolini, a unique architectural marvel. The main artery running through the historic centre is the narrow Via Fillungo, a medieval street lined with the city’s most prestigious shops. Some of Lucca’s other picturesque squares include Piazza San Michele, the city’s historic fulcrum, and Piazza San Martino, the centre of religious life and the site of the renowned Duomo di San Martino. Its immense historic-monumental opulence has prompted a recent proposal to include Lucca’s historic centre – which also comprises a historic playhouse, the Teatro del Giglio - in UNESCO’s world heritage list.
