|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Large apartment located in an elegant building of the early twentieth century, just right on the cliffs and with private access to the sea.
The apartment consists of two bedrooms (the double room with sea view), for a total of 5 beds, two bathrooms, a large kitchen, a living room and a beautiful terrace overlooking the sea, where you can dine pleasantly while the moon illuminates the expanse of water in front of you.
The apartment has a washing machine, TV, air conditioning, making it also ideal for those who love to watch the stormy sea during the wet winter days by the heat of their home.
We spent five days here at the end of May which was the perfect time to visit. The apartment was clean and well maintained and as we were the only occupants in the block we had the large shared terrace and the sun terraces down near the sea to ourselves. Alessandro although unable to be present himself maintained good contact with us via email and phone, his parents and their interpreter were friendly and helpful throughout . The town itself is very pretty and has some lovely bars and restaurants also a supermarket within 10 minutes which is a bonus for self catering guests. Nearby Castro a little fishing village is also worth a visit and the fresh fish we bought there was delicious.
When we were able to drag ourselves away from our apartment we visited a number of local towns and cities. Lecce and Ostuni are both beautiful and entirely different from each other. Also Otranto with its stunning and unusual cathedral. The unesco heritage site of Alberobello is an hour and a half away and well worth a visit, pop into the gelato shop on the outskirts of the main tourist area, lives up to its BBC reputation as the best in Puglia.
Thank you Alessandro for your suggestions and your hospitality, we look forward to visiting again one day.
ampio appartamento, molto confertevole e molto pulito
A few miles south of Otranto, on top of a green rugged plateau overlooking the emerald sea, stands Santa Cesarea Terme, characterized by the typical architecture of the early twentieth century with numerous villas and summer residences monumental and luxurious at the same time frivolous and extravagant. They were built in the early twentieth century by the bourgeoisie from Salento, in search of pleasant resort, immediately appreciated the well-being provoked by thermal treatments. Among these, the beautiful villa Sticchi built in the late 1800s.
Do not miss the walk along the path between the pines of Aleppo that leads to the top of the village where you can enjoy a magnificent view on the Salento coast to the tip of Santa Maria di Leuca.
The coasts on which stands the village have the phenomenon of thermal springs with sulphurous water, which flows out at temperatures ranging between 27 and 30 degrees in four natural caves along the cliff, thermal springs particularly suitable for the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism, skin diseases and respiratory tract, as well as beauty treatments and anti-stress.
In addition to relaxation and well-being, the town offers numerous activities, opportunities for recreation and entertainment, as well as long walks in one of the most fascinating places of Salento. Within 2 km from the village there are three very famous nightclubs (Malè, Guendalina and Blue Bay), as well as numerous local and lounge bar by the sea.
Santa Cesarea Terme is also a good base for exploration of the many small towns in the lower Salento, characterized by picturesque old towns and evidence of Neolithic culture, classical and early Christian, but also of the large towns such as Lecce (40 min drive) , Maglie (20 min) and Otranto (15 min).
From a meteorological perspective Santa Cesarea Terme is part of the territory of Salento, which has a Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and hot humid summers.
