About the property

An elegant home with room for 3-5 in a spectacular setting

Enjoy the wonderful art, culture and nature of Umbria from this beautiful home within the ancient stone walls of the castle of Campello Alto. The tower property opens onto the magnificent old walls and a contemporary garden with lots of outdoor space for dining, sunning and experiencing a privileged stay in this unique location. Throughout the house you will find furnishings featuring the best of contemporary Italian design. The ground floor opens up from the sunny terrace to a modern kitchen, dining room and a living room with fireplace. Up the stairs are a double bedroom with sofa bed and private entrance to the back sculpture garden and a centre room with single sofa bed and half bath. At the top of the tower, up a contemporary metal staircase, is the master bedroom with queen-sized bed and en-suite bath with shower. Only three other families still live within this jewel amongst Umbrian castles and you can feel as if the castle were your realm, dominating the olive-clad hills of this world-famous village. The foot of the hill brings you to the park of the Fonti del Clitunno, the placid waters of which have been written about by poets through the ages from Virgil to Byron and up to the present and from there the waters lead to the Unesco heritage site of the Tempietto--a stunning treasure of the Longobards. The village of Campello lies between the castle and the park and offers all services, shops and easy access to the main highway north and south to all the sights of Umbria and beyond. We have a second tower adjacent to this property so please let us know if your group is larger as we can accommodate up to 9 adults or 10 guests total at both properties. Our WiFi is now upgraded and able to work steadily despite our hillside location and thick castle walls!

Come enjoy life at the castle and, if you have time for an extended stay in the region, consider an additional week at our apartment in the centre of Assisi or ask about our holiday homes on Monte Conero on the Adriatic coast and at the exclusive Porto Cervo resort on the Sardinian 'Emerald' coast if you'd like to add a beach holiday to your Italian tour.

A house inside medieval walls of hilltop village

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a really memorable holiday here - it's a special place and you can imagine that little has changed over the centuries - except the house is very comfortable! It's quiet but with lots of interesting places to visit and great places to eat. Sandro and Andrea were very kind and hospitable.

Peacefull stay at the castle

  • 4 of 5

Spent one week with my friend and my two children in this lovely castlehouse with beautifull design furniture, great environment and very friendly people.

The Loretti family are all very warm, kind and helpfull.

Not all the Accommodation and facilities on the list were available at the house like internet, bikes or barbecue, but overall the experience was very positive and recommendable for anyone looking for a relaxed and peacfull atmosphere.

Owner's Response: We're very glad to hear how much you enjoyed your stay at the Castle, but sorry to know you didn't find everything you'd expected. The barbecue and bicycles aren't left at the house as there's little storage, so we bring by the barbecue and leave the bicycles down at the Fonti where there is an excellent bike path nearby. We encourage our guests to please let us know what they would like and we're always happy to respond!

A magic place in a surreal atmosphere

  • 5 of 5

I spent my past New year vacations with my friends in this fantastic apartment.

Newly restored , new furnitures mostly of design, comfortable, warm, accessible, stylish. We were really positively surprised when we arrived there. With the day light from Campello Alto you can have one of the most beauty views of Spoleto Valley.

The village itself is antic, all houses in stones, beauty hills around and the few people living the village were really warm and friendly.

Lovely vacation although in winter ...I will have to plan to come back next summer.

Many thanks to the owners

Vacanza rilassante..La casa é veramente bella

  • 5 of 5

Assolutamente fanstastico

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5
