About the property

3 bedrooms sleeps 6 - 2 bedrooms sleeps 4 -

Aux Vachers Ouest is a collection of restored 17th century buildings, including the original farmhouse and barn, situated in the small hamlet of Les Vachers in the SW corner of the Dordogne where it borders the Gironde and Lot et Garonne.

La Residence and The Cottage are two delightful, well-equipped, comfortably furnished properties in a lovely garden setting with a large swimming pool. The cottages are independent of each other and both have a private patio and BBQ. The pool is surrounded by an attractive rockery and tiled terrace with ample sun loungers and parasols. A field to one side of the garden, but well away from the pool is ideal for children’s games, whilst table tennis is also on site.

The Swimming Pool: Pretty gardens and trees surround and shield the large pool (11mx12m), which has a sophisticated filtration system giving clear water that is virtually chemical free and should not irritate the eyes. The tiled sun terrace has ample lounging furniture, tables, chairs and parasols. The pool is equipped with an alarm, which conforms to French safety regulations. Table tennis is also available.

Attractions/ Events: The cottages provide a perfect location for a peaceful and picturesque holiday amongst the vines. However, the amenities and attractions of the beautiful Dordogne Valley and the vineyards of St Emilion and Bordeaux are within easy reach. The pre-historic caves at Les Eyzies and Lascaux are interesting, whilst the ancient towns of Sarlat and Bordeaux are well worth a visit. The local railway line runs from Bordeaux through St Emilion, Ste Foy la Grande and Bergerac to Sarlat.

The summer season in the Dordogne offers a huge number of events and Bergerac hosts many ranging from a four day open air festival culminating in a magnificent firework display on 14th July to a regular evening market, concerts, jazz and art exhibitions. Many of the smaller towns, such as Eymet have a weekly evening market where it is possible to wander around, choose supper from one of the stalls, wine from another, find a table, sit down and enjoy the street entertainment.

Golf and other Sporting Activities: Chateau des Vigiers Golf and Country Club, 6kms is a golf and leisure complex with an 18-hole international course, 6-hole course and a driving range. Visitors are welcome and clubs, trolleys and carts can be hired. The chateau also has two excellent restaurants and bars. A little further afield there are several 9-hole courses, which welcome visitors.

Canoes, kayaks and bikes can be rented.

Fishing on the River Dordogne requires a permit but these are readily available
