House La Romanche

“Maison La Romanche” is also a cosy and well equipped cottage which outside part is still in its original condition (built in ’35). Inside you will find 2 spacious bedrooms with 2 single beds each (both located on the first floor) and a small living room on the ground floor which also possibly could function as bedroom (sofa bed for 2 people).

This room also has a fireplace, a colour TV and a cosy sitting area.

Next to the living room is a fully equipped kitchen and a shower and a toilet.

For the living room and kitchen you will find a terrace facing the south, with barbecue (from June 2013 on).

Chalet Carpe Diem

The holiday address 'Chalet Carpe Diem' consists of five independent lodging accommodations which all guarantee sufficient privacy and desired contemporary comfort. Each accommodation is provided with fully equipped kitchen, private bathroom, terrace or balcony and private entrance.

An ideal address for small (2 people) and large (max. 28 people) groups throughout the year.

The main accommodation is 'Chalet Carpe Diem'; a large chalet for 6 to 12 people.

The other 4 accommodations are:

Gite Les Ecrins : up to 4 people

Gite Le Prégentil : up to 4 people

Maisonnette le Cabanon : up to 3 people

Maison La Romanche : up to 5 people

Thus you can, if required, book your accommodation 'à la carte', by renting one or more accommodations.

From your balcony, your terrace or the huge garden (about 1,800m), you always have a unique view of the impressive nature, the many peaks and the word famous road with 21 hairpin bends to Alpe d'Huez.

Barbecue, garden and patio furniture are at your disposal.

There is ample free parking on our property for cars and/or motorcycles.

The bikes (and of course skis during the winter months) can be parked safely and for free in a lockable room.

About Verhagen Jan and Ria

In 2004 we settled ourselves in Bourg d'Oisans; a welcoming village where we felt at home right away when we took over the restaurant 'La Romanche' just before the summer of that year.

Meanwhile, we believe we can say that restaurant 'La Romanche' has become a recognition in and around Bourg d'Oisans.

Why Verhagen Jan and Ria chose Alpe d'Huez area

Over the years we received increasingly demand of more and more guests in our restaurant and on the accompanying terrace, if we possessed overnight accommodation. Unfortunately we had to answer this negatively.

Then, when we heard in the winter of 2012/2013 that – in our opinion – the nicest chalet of the valley was for sale, we both decided with enthusiasm, dedication and conviction, to start this new challenge directly with both hands. This beautiful chalet is unlikely good and centrally located and offers our guests an oasis of tranquillity and space.

Bourg d'Oisans (720 m) is de ideal base for the sports-minded tourist who loves adventure and a wide variety of mountain sports. The cosiness and intimacy of a typical French village go here hand in hand with the spectacular scenery. The town centre offers a range of the most diverse shops, restaurants and bars. Around the village (3,400 inhabitants), you will see again and again the high green or white peaks.

In and around the summer months most of the holiday makers will go out by bike, mountain bike, motorbike or foot to explore the impressive nature and the variety of the challenging climbs. The most famous is, of course, the ascent of the Alpe d'Huez, whose start is just 300 meters from the chalet. Other cols including the Galibier (2642 m), col de Croix de Fer (2068 m), col de Glandon (1951 m), col de Sarenne (1999 m) and col de Lautaret (2057 m) make the real bike lovers salivating.

For hikers the area offers a wide range of crystal clear mountain lakes and waterfalls and 680 km marked footpaths. Bourg d'Oisans is located in the National Parc des Ecrins; the largest national park of France.

But just being lazy in the free nature under the sun is always possible with around 300 days of sunshine per year.

Or use the communal heated swimming pool (200 m).

During the winter months the offered skiing possibilities in Alpe d'Huez (20 minutes by car) are unlimited. The same applies to the ski area of Les Deux Apes (25 minutes by car. In Alpe d'Huez you find more than 90 lifts, around 130 km. Ski and cross-country trails and more than 250 snow-sure skiing kilometres. The longest ski run in the world is in Alpe d'Huez;; la Sarenne, a descent from 3,330 meters altitude of 16 km!

Interesting cities like Grenoble and Brian con are located at a drive of 1 hour by car.
