Quiet, local

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice time in this cute house close to beach and town center. We specially appreciated location of the house after visiting neighboring town - filled with hotels, restaurants, crowded beach and no parking space. It was a relieve coming back to "our" little quiet town. The house is clean and has everything needed for comfortable stay. We walk to get our coffee every day and sat down and admired the original Lumiers' movie theatre building. And enjoyed being outside of all the crowds, just hanging out with locals. Actually last day of our stay the owner of the coffee house on the square gave us a book about Provence to remember places we went to but specially for us to remember our everyday coffee and his coffee place and the local people. So if you don't need crowded hotels and beaches and appreciate little bit of local feel this is a good place to be. I am not sure how the summer months look like thought..we went mid June. Please give our regards to the owner of the coffee shop and tell him his book made it all the way to San Francisco.

Quite gem in great location

  • 5 of 5

The house is completely renovated, clean with all amenities you will need for comfortable stay including AC, washer & dryer. The master bedroom bathroom is very large with a full size bathtub. The master bedroom bed is very comfortable, the bunk beds in the other bedroom need thicker matrasses. The house has a nice private patio for breakfast or BBQ. It is quiet and at the same time within walking distance to the local market, grocery store, cafes and restaurants. You can walk to the town’s beach or to the beautiful Calanque de Figurolles rocky cove where you can swim in crystal blue waters. And parking in nearby garage is included in the price which is a great plus, since parking is a nightmare on the French Riviera. Make sure to take a drive or bike on the ancient road Route des Cretes to Cassis. Breathtaking views! The owner made our stay very pleasant; she was always ready to respond to our questions. It felt like staying at friend’s house.

Idéalement situé et très calme.

  • 5 of 5

Notre petite chienne Lilou a adoré.

This lovely French seaside town has a traditional working port (3 min stroll) where you can buy freshly caught fish early in the morning; walk 10 min to the south of the port you can walk to the botanical gardens and explore the unique landscape of the calanques and calanque beaches; or walk 15 min to the north of the port to beautiful sandy beaches which stretch along the 'Bai d'Amour'. This little gem of a town is culture rich, boasting; the home of Pétanque (boules) and thé origin of 'The Lumière Brothers' whom created the first moving pictures, a cinema and a theatre. There are two weekly markets; the Sunday market stretches along the port full of artisan creations and fresh produce. All amenities, shops and city supermarket are within walking distance in the town centre which wraps around the port.

La Ciotat and its surrounds offer many local activities as well as a beautiful region to explore; the vineyards of Bandol, the traditional port of Cassis and the medieval town of Castellet are but a few on our doorstep. Aix-en-Provence is a 35 min drive north to explore the history of artists like Cezanne and this beautiful historic university town.
