Great location, felt like home but...

  • 3 of 5

We just returned from our trip up to Mt Desert and were so sad to leave but happy to be sleeping in our own beds tonight. The location of the house was excellent although a number of previous reviewers found the location quiet, we did not. At times, it was quiet, other times, such as the motorcycle starting up outside our window at 5am was not. The owner honored our request regarding fans in the rooms; even though it was cool at night, it was somewhat stuffy upstairs without the fans on. But, previous reviews stated that the beds were comfortable. I can emphatically say that the king bed killed my back and I couldn't make the short walk down the street to the shops due to the bad sciatica the bed caused. My son switched beds with me which helped but then even he complained about the king bed and he can sleep anywhere! But, the house is beautiful, clean, and has everything you need, including laundry room and detergent. We cooked most nights and loved the gas range and outdoor grill. It was also nice not having to fight for a parking spot in town. If it hadn't been for the killer king bed, the lack of sleep and the pain it caused, I would have given this house 4 stars.

Great in town holiday home!

  • 4 of 5

We echo previous reviews who enthused over the excellent location and light airy well equipped home we enjoyed last week.

We had fabulous weather and enjoyed Acadia's wonderful scenery. Summer Street is short stroll from the sand bar, shore path, shops and restaurants. We enjoyed the Town Brass Band in the Village Green, a film under the stars at Agamont Park, a ghost walk and evening strolls for ice cream. Cadillac Mountain is 15 mins drive away in the park.

We also enjoyed the front porch and the sun streaming through the windows in the morning.

As others have mentioned, the house is set back from Cottage Street so no traffic noise. Summer Street is tucked away with some pretty front gardens and the quaint Black Friar Inn is just across the way. The big supermarket is across the road but there is also a great natural foods store

a couple of mins away where you can get great coffee.

The only very minor annoyance was the Black Friar's vent/blower was a bit noisy- but you can sit round the back of the house and not hear it plus it does get turned off at night. Also you are out and about all day anyway.

All in all we can while heartedly agree with other guests in recommending this rental!

Relaxing downtown bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We absolutely loved our stay at Margaret's house in Bar Harbor. The best part is that you are downtown and minutes from all the shops, restaurants and stores, but also tucked away on a little side street that doesn't have the same noise and congestion as downtown. There is a sweet little restaurant and Inn across the street which had excellent food. The beach walk is 1 block away and the main grocery store is across the big street. The house itself is comfortable, clean and well done with exceptional beds and bedding. We spent alot of time on the front porch and there is also a grill and patio set in the back. The owner even gave me use of her blender so I could make food for the baby. No complaints, we will most definitely be back. Thank you for a great stay!

Awesome location and rental

  • 5 of 5

We were a little nervous renting online for our first time, and were not disappointed.

Margaret was quick in responding to our questions and so we felt comfortable working with her right away.

The home is in the perfect location...away from the hustle and bustle of town noise, but directly across from the supermarket., and just a few blocks from the ocean front. We could walk to everything in Bar Harbor and not worry about parking. The home was very clean, and had all the amenities that were on the website.

Margaret was very easy to work with and gave us lots of information about the area that we asked for. We were there in June, and can't even imagine how people try to park there later in the year, so were especially pleased with the location. Plenty of hot water, everything was in working order, the photos on the website are an accurate representation of the rooms. The beds were very comfortable, and she offered lots of extra blankets, pillows and towels. Kitchen is fully furnished...even cutting boards, corkscrews, baggies, paper towels and TP. Lots of fun leftovers from the previous guests, so we left some goodies ourselves. Look inside the living room coffee table and you'll find lots of brochures and maps and ideas for fun things to do.When we go back to Bar Harbor, which we will definitely do, we will try to make sure to rent with her again.

Our family vacation in Bar Harbor, Maine

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our home in BarHarbor. it was convenient to all the areas we visited. In the evening we walked into town, walked across to Bar island, and just had room in our house to play games together. We were close to Acacia where we spent most of our time hiking and enjoying the beauty of the area. Our two granddaughters (3 years, and 8 months) had lots of room to move around in our house. We were able to meet Margaret towards the end of our trip. Hanaford's across the road was excellent! Their seafood was delicious and they even cook it for you if you want!

Thank you for your wonderful home to help make our vacation the best! Our 3 year old granddaughter cried the morning we left because she was going to miss our " home".
