Lovingly restored waterfront cottage near Schull, Bantry, Goleen & Ballydehob
Mulroe Cove is a superb waterfront property and has a truly spectacular and uniquely private setting. It has its own private shingle beach which is only 5 metres from the house and spreads 0.5 km wide. It is a wonderful place to swim, kayak and fish or to stroll and relax on.
Due to its very sheltered position on the South side of the Dunmanus Bay, Mulroe is not only a superb seafront property, but is also set in 5 acres of mature gardens, which comprises a walled garden with Mediterranean and tropical plants as well as various areas of lawn with mature trees and a woodland with waterway. The woodland stretches over 0.5 miles from the house to the main road, thus lending the house a very private and tranquil setting.
At the far side of the beach the sea stretches into a beautiful wild marshland in which many different varieties of birds live and nest.
The house is a lovingly restored stone cottage set in the beautiful walled garden with wonderful sea views. It combines old with new, thus lending the house a timeless feel full of character.
The house consists of two separate rental units, the first, called 'Mulroe Studio' sleeps 2, the second, called 'Mulroe House' sleeps 4.
'Mulroe Studio' sleeps two. It has a spacious double height living/dining room with a characterful mix of antique and modern furniture and a twin bedroom on a mezzanine floor. It has a charming kitchen with an old dresser, table and a free-standing modern gas-cooker with electric oven and a stylish, contemporary bathroom with bath/shower. The seaviews from the kitchen, living room and bedroom are stunning.
It is possible to sleep a third person on the bedsofa in the living room.

'Mulroe House' sleeps four and has a comfy feel. It consists of a double and twin bedroom, a separate bathroom with bath/shower facilities, a cosy kitchen with dining area and a living room with a beautiful old stone fireplace and old corner cupboard. It is stylishly furnished with old and new furniture.
Both units can also be combined to make one large unit that sleeps 6.
The owners live in a separate house on the property.

Why Stephanie O' Donovan chose County Cork
I was smitten by this beautiful waterfront property which has been lovingly restored over the years. I holidayed many times in West Cork as a child and love its beauty, and the diversity of its mountains, rivers and coastline all of which are within easy reach.

Location
Mulroe is only a short drive away from the Mizen peninsula's sandy beaches, including the beautiful Blue Flag beach of Barley Cove. It is also within easy reach of the Sheep's Head peninsula with its many scenic walkways. The small, lively village of Durrus is only 4 km away and there you find a grocery shop, several pubs and restaurants and a Cafe with WiFi facilities, a post office and a general hardware store that sells all you need for the beach and fishing equipment. Mulroe is equidistant from the historic seaside towns of Bantry and Schull, approximately 13 km away. Bantry is a lively town and has more pubs and restaurants, a lovely Farmer's Market on Fridays and a large supermarket that offers online deliveries. At the end of June it hosts the Chamber Music Festival and at the beginning of July the Bantry Literary Festival. The picturesque seaside town of Schull is famous for its harbour and hosts the famous Fastnet Sailing Race. We are in easy reach of Bantry House, Mizen Head Lighthouse, Glengariff Bamboo Park, Ewe Sculpture Garden and Glengariff Nature Reserve, Barley Lake and Garnish Island, then onto Beara Peninsula as well as Schull, Cape Clear or Sherkin Island and onto Skibbereen and Lough Hyne. Activities in the area include: swimming, kayaking, fishing, sailing, surfing, boat trips, scuba diving, horse riding, whale watching, cinema and Spa, walking/hill walking, beaches and golf.
