This was the second time that we stayed in Vertigo Palace and we're absolutely in love with it. The first time we stayed there for a month and the second time for two weeks. We come all the way from New York to enjoy this wonderful property with a superb location in the heart of Jelsa with our Croatian family and friends.
The four bedrooms are spacious with extremely comfortable beds. A lot of attention was put into decorating the house, so the villa looks even better in real life than it does on the photographs. You can find there everything that you need for a perfect stay. A great addition is the large pool that can offer instant refreshment.
Another great thing about the villa is the close proximity to the most beautiful beaches, wineries, shops and restaurants that offer traditional and delicious food. You can literally walk everywhere. It's also great for biking. Every night we had dinner in another spot and the food was always superb. If you would like to visit the Town of Hvar (and you definitely should) it's going to take you only 20 minutes of a very easy car ride. Hvar town wouldn't
And last but not least, the owners were our friends. This year they recommended a beautiful hike to Grapceva cave which is the cradle of Hvar's civilization (a prehistoric finding) and we all loved it. They introduced us to Jelsa's winemaker Andro Tomic who's vineyard was named the best vineyard in Central Dalmatia in 2014. We really tasted some great wines and even brought some back to the U.S. The owners also coordinated a wonderful boat trip to a gorgeous bay where we had lunch and were swimming in the cleanest water that we've ever seen. And the best thing about it was that no one else was around!
Although we travel around the world all the time and we've seen many beautiful things out there, nothing compares to the beauty of island Hvar. When we come to Vertigo Palace we feel like we're home and we never want to leave.
Do yourself a favor and visit Vertigo Palace if you can. You will never regret it. We cannot wait to come again next year!
This house is absolutely AMAZING! Completely private, Unreal sound system, spacious rooms, clean linens, large entertaining spaces, Indoor and Outdoor pools...and it is steps away from downtown Jelsa with all the charming cafes and shops! I feel like we stepped into our own private luxury palace. Myself and 9 friends partied like Rock Stars and spend 6 days soaking up the charms of Jelsa and Hvar all while enjoying this fantastic home. Our hosts, Ivo and his family were so accommodating, they went out of their way to arrange excursions on private beaches for us, private in house dinners, transfers to Hvar Nightclubs and even arranged for us to travel to Dubrovnik via 2 speed boats versus spending an entire day traveling via cabs and buses. I would go back in a heartbeat, this house made me fall in love with Croatia, I'll be back Ivo and I'll be waiting to hear more jokes!
I went with a group of friends (8 of us) and the house was amazing! The staff that helped us cleaned the place daily - they had private chefs come in and cook for us per our request. They were extremely accommodating and we will likely book again next year.
While Hvar has a deserved reputation for great beaches, excellent night-life and a perfect climate, less is known about the full range of activities available on the island.
Adventurous tourists will be keen to check out the rock climbing, scuba diving, sailing and sea kayaking, while the more sedate visitors may like to investigate yoga, wine tours, off-road safaris and art classes.
There is the chance to compete in the Hvar Half Marathon, or swim the 16km Faros Marathon, cycle the islands roads or hike in its hills.
The rich cultural heritage of Hvar has been well preserved in its architecture and museums. Take guided walking tours of Hvar Town, Jelsa and Vrboska, and visit the excellent Stari Grad Museum and Hvar Heritage Museum.
Explore some of the unique buildings on the island, including St. Mary's Fortress Church in Vrboska and the Hektorovic Trvdalj in Stari Grad.
Adventure and Sport
There are plenty of adventure sports to try on Hvar, with leading local specialist Hvar Adventure at the heart of much of the activity. Lose yourself in the Pakleni Islands in a kayak, sailboat or scuba diving, or check out the growing rock climbing challenges on Hvar.
There are plenty of sports to have a go at too, and if you are feeling particularly energetic, why not sign up for the Hvar Half Marathon or the 16km Faros Marathon swimathon?
Sailing and Boating
Hvar is one of the top sailing destinations in the Adriatic, and its two ACI marina's are booming. There are plenty of sailing opportunities on the island, from enrolling in a sailing school, to sailing excursions, and even crewing on one of the many regattas in the area.
The attractions of the family beach on a holiday to Hvar are obvious, a popular destination with its small pebble beaches and pristine sea, but there are also other activities for kids, such as art classes on a Saturday morning in Dol, one of the six inland hilltop villages which form the spine of the island.
The Gariful Tennis centre in Hvar has all you need to satisfy your tennis needs.
There are 6 tennis courts, of which 3 are illuminated for night play. The courts are carefully maintained and cleaned every single day.
There is also the possibility of tennis training. Both adults and children can benefit from the training offers.
We know how important your children are to you, and they are important to us as well – this is why we pay special attention to teaching tennis to the little ones. They are being taught to play as a team, but also individually.
