Close your eyes and imagine the sea. Imagine being within a period house overlooking the sea, in the ancient village of Polignano. Imagine dining by candlelight with your loved one on a veranda feature, among the most photographed in the world, suspended over the sea and caressed by the Mistral. Now wake up and allow yourself to dream.
The ideal home to spend the holiday periods, is not suitable for children and disabled persons.
It consists of a living area with kitchenette and a comfortable sofa bed, a double bedroom with sea view window, a bathroom (no bidet, shower) and the characteristic and unique, in the historic center of Polignano, balcony among the most photographed (at 24 meters above the sea).
The house in the past was frequented by artists, musicians and fashion designers.
We rent from April to September with regular lease inclusive of utilities.
From the first time we saw this property listed on HomeAway we knew we had to stay. We were greeted at the train station by the host and his english speaking friend. Please don't let the idea he only speaks Italian stop you from booking. We in all of our travels have never met a more friendly and personable host. He went out of his way to show us everything we required in Polignano to have the time of our life. If he could not help us he knew someone who could. He has lived there all of his life and there is nothing he doesn't know about the area. The locals he introduced us to were the life line to the best food and wine. From the deli with the best meats and cheeses to fine dinning at a family run business for five generations of chefs( Casa Mia) Pizza like you have never had , another friend of the host. Stepping out onto the balcony of the unit took your breath away. It is a very clean and comfortable place to call home. We only stayed one week in March and would love to come back to stay longer. Like we say words can not describe this location, book it and see for yourself. Thanks so much Mr & Mrs Host with the most!!! Grazie Mille!!!!! Joe
We are so glad we booked this property. Beautifully cool during the day due to the north facing balcony and so very peaceful. A short walk from the main town and its shops you can lock yourself away and not see anyone if that's your wish. Clean and with reasonable cooking facilities (I cooked the local seafood for lunch everyday without any issues), The owner is a fantastic host and nothing is too much trouble. Although he does not speak English his friend Franca does and communication is prompt and easy.
Have no worries whatsoever about sending monies to the owners bank (although your bank may charge you for doing so) the property IS real and a wonderful break away. The balcony (where my wife spent most of her time) is an oasis but it is the focal point for picture takers!! Stay well back and no one is the wiser but sometimes you will hear a "Hey" and when you stick your head out with a glass of wine, you are suddenly the centre of lens attention! This does not detract though - its fun and sometimes you will be front row for the local teenagers throwing themselves off the 24 meter high view point into the clear blue sea below. Polignano A Mare is not a rip off tourist town. Everything is VERY VERY reasonable especially the food.
We cannot wait to go back and if you want a romantic getaway then this is ideal. Perhaps the finest horizon to horizon views you will find and spectacular sunrises and sunsets included in the price!! The owner is a well known and respected figure in the town and he showed us the best places to eat and buy food (the local deli is to die for and became my unofficial second home). We could not have been made more welcome and the locals even put up with my faltering attempts at speaking Italian. In the 10 days we were there I only heard 3 other Brits so it's ideal if you want the authentic Italian getaway to learn the language, drink espresso and totally relax look no further!
This beautiful apartment is essentially built into the cliffs which means you have amazing sea views, drift off to sleep to the sound of the ocean and are right in the heart of Polignano old town. The owners are really helpful and friendly (they brought us a huge tray of fresh fruit that lasted the whole week) and the apartment is well equipped given its size and location. Take a trip to Monopoli, Alberabello, Lecce and Ostuni (the beaches to the north of Ostuni are amazing). If you can visit during the festival on 14th June then do ... Amazing spectacle
