A *PET FRIENDLY* fully furnished, Folly Beach vacation home that's close to everything on the beach! Ocean is directly across the street - convenient access. Only 2 blocks to Folly Beach's shops, restaurants and pier. The home was specifically designed for your vacation with a vaulted great room, elevator, friendly kitchen and 4 sets of French doors spanning the front of home to maximize the view. Front master bedroom and loft have ocean views. Large front covered porch with hammock, BBQ & patio furniture. Sundeck for private sunbathing.
This elevated home has a large fenced back yard that is perfect for pets. (Our Great Dane and his playmate visit in the off season and they love it!).
Why this home over others at Folly Beach?: This home was specifically designed for your vacation! The owner chose the lot and house plan with your family in mind. It's on the West side of Folly Beach where there's less traffic and noise, but only 2 1/2 blocks - easy walking distance - to the restaurants, shops, pier, etc., on Center Street. The home is 2nd row with direct access to the beach. We are PET FRIENDLY and have an ELEVATOR (great for easy unpacking and settling in after a long trip - or for any guest not able to climb stairs) and a fenced in back yard. The home is also great for anyone using a wheel chair, with extra wide doors to one master bedroom, bathroom and shower. And , unlike front beach and most 2nd row homes on Folly, this home has wonderful parking. There is room for 3 cars under the home and room for 5 more cars on the driveways. Also unusual for a Folly vacation rental is the fenced in back yard. It's shaded by the house - a great place for everyone to relax out of direct sunlight.
Sunbathing with sun burnt friends? You'll love our combination sun deck and covered porch. It's large enough to spread out and get just the right tan. And the trees surrounding it add some nice privacy from nearby homes. For guests who had a little too much sun the day before, the covered part of the deck provides welcome relief. Hang out on the patio furniture or in the hammock and recuperate without missing any of the conversation!

About Misti and Robert Melton
Robert Melton's construction company built the home in 1999 specifically for vacation rentals. His business partner at the time was handicapped and suggested making the home handicap accessible, which was a great idea.
Misti and Robert Melton purchased this House in 1999
Why Misti and Robert Melton chose Folly Beach
The home is on the less traveled (west) end of Folly Beach and is directly across from the ocean, with public beach facilities and a handicapped public beach access. It is also just 2 1/2 blocks from Center Street and the Folly Beach Pier, which is a perfect walking distance from the home. Out of range of nightclub music yet close enough to easily walk back and forth to the home as often as guests like.
What makes this House unique
This is an elevated home with an elevator and a fenced in back yard. Pet friendly, well cared for and with a sundeck for sun lovers and a covered porch and hammock for friends and relatives who'd prefer shade. With one of the few 'street to street' driveways on the island, there's plenty of off street parking under and behind the home, which is at a premium on Folly Beach. All this at about 1/2 the price of an ocean front home; this home is a great deal!

Very nice...Well-stocked... Great location...
Impressed on so many levels!
We love this home. It's ideal for our dogs (fenced in yard), my elderly grandmother (the elevator & handicapped accessible layout), and our married children. We didn't need the loft space but I expect that's room for grandbabies to join us one year! Seriously, this home is extremely well stocked with bath towels, paper products, food wraps, and kitchen / bath soaps are already there. I've been renting beach homes for years and have never received such a comprehensive list of how the home is equipped, what to do (and don't do) on Folly Beach, directions, etc. Wait for the email - it's better than TripAdvisor or any of those ;) Home is clean, well thought out, ideal for pets, the deck is perfect for gathering together any time of day / night. The driveway / parking is prime! Heat and AC run well too. This is an excellent choice as it's close enough (but far enough) to the downtown action, restaurants, etc. that the young adults could do their thing, while we did ours. Our family calls this a "repeater" which is our ultimate compliment.
Family Wedding Celebration
The house was spacious and the kitchen was very well equipped. The beach and public access were just across the street. Folly stores and restaurants were within walking distance.
The elevator was an absolute must because my brother is a 100% disabled Vietnam Veteran. Everyone wanted to use the handicapped shower because it was so nice!
We were easily able to accommodate both sides of the family-- 9 adults which included 2 adult nephews, 3 adult nieces, uncle, 2 aunts and mother of the groom.
The house was clean and nicely furnished with 4 queen size beds. It would be nice to have a sturdy chair in the handicapped bedroom, we moved a chair from the deck which worked well.
It was a great place to stay and the wedding went off well with a beautiful bride and a handsome groom!
I definitely would like to rent again and bring my 2 dogs. The outdoor fenced in space for the dogs would be an added plus. Sarah formerly from SC but now in northern VA
This home worked perfectly for our family!
Finding a home to accommodate our needs is not easy. We need wheelchair accessibility, kid friendly and pet friendly and this one was perfect. Felt like a home and not a rental property and we really enjoyed our stay. Thanks!
Great location; large and comfortable house
The best thing about this house is the fact that each bedroom has its own powder room, and there is a bath and/or shower for sharing between each set of 2 bedrooms. The elevator is another plus. Each bedroom and the living room have televisions. The access to the beach couldn't be better. And the town is within a very short walking distance. The kitchen is full-size and well-equipped, although some of the pots and pans are pretty battered. The furnishings are sufficient, although also pretty well-worn. The fenced yard was great for kids and dogs. Just be aware that there is no direct access from the house. We had small children so there were a few issues we had to overcome:( 1) the doors (including the 6 doors to the large, 2-story-high front deck) do not lock from the inside so small children could easily slip out. We blocked those doors with the bar stools. (2) We decided to place an armchair in front of the elevator door in the LR so no children could access it. (3) The loft has 2 sets of bunk beds, but it is a loft and only protected by a waist-high wall so it's not safe for little ones. (4) The steps to the loft are metal, open and winding - again another child hazard. The reason I am not giving this 5 stars is because, although we informed the owners the 1st day of our 2 week stay that the grill was not functioning, and they promised a replacement, it was not replaced during our visit.
We really appreciate the thoughtful feedback. The new grill was delayed, unfortunately. It is on the way and will be installed very soon. We also have plans to replace some of the bedroom dressers that are worn. And to clarify for future guests, the beach access is by way of the ocean front lot across the street and one lot to the left as you face the ocean from the home. There is no private access because the home is a second row home (and not an ocean front home). Hopefully, this information helps future guests. Please feel free to send an inquiry if there are any questions about the home that aren't answered in the online description.
Great Space, Location and Beaches
This home is beautiful with lots of natural light coming in from every side. When you are in the house, you feel like you are in a tree-house. The beautiful trees in the front and back make for a wonderful view and sense of privacy. The lighted exterior staircase was a nice touch and the elevator was great for getting heavy luggage up to the main living level. The surprising part is how close the home is to the beach access –literally across the street. We enjoyed many long walks along the beach with our leashed dog. We very much appreciate that the owner welcomes pets. Also, it is about 15 minutes from Charleston so we were able to drive there to see mansions, Fort Sumter, plantations, and historical tours. This location has it all!
Swim, surf, kite board, para-sail, sail, jog, shop, dine, dance, relax in the hammock, BBQ and enjoy the beach! 15 minutes to downtown Charleston. Take a carriage tour and enjoy the history that is unique to the South.
