About Hazel Thompson
We, Hazel and Peter, are finally living the dream. We bought this place in 2001 with a view to living here permanently and developing the Grenier into somewhere we can share with others. Both of us have roots in the British countryside and chose here because the living experience reminds us of life in the UK of 50 years ago - apart from the prices !!
Hazel Thompson purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Hazel Thompson chose Viozan
Every year for 10 years our annual holidays were always spent here making sure we experienced every month - we were never disappointed. September remains my favourite after the often savage heat of August. The air seems to breathe a sigh of relief but the pool is still very welcoming. Everyone who visits comments how peaceful and tranquil our house sits in the countryside.
What makes this Apartment unique
We never tire of our view onto the Pyrenees, sometimes the mountains seem to rise from the next field or of the buzzards and kites hovering overhead. Having a Restaurant and Boulangerie in the village was the icing on the cake. The Restaurant was totally overhauled by its owner and re-opened June 2015 under new management. Open every weekday and Sunday lunch for 'menu de jour' and evenings at weekends in the winter and weekdays in the summer. They also have a Wine bar where you can enjoy a glass or a bottle and a plate of Tapas Knowing the value and importance of breaks aways from work we have endeavoured to make Lavender Loft a home from home with a touch of luxury. Feedback from our guests so far, has proved we have been successful

Wonderful, tranquil, rejuvenating Lavender Loft
What an amazing find Lavender Loft is! We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect place to stay, the views from the lounge are just stunning, the dappled sunlight in the mornings - the afternoons watching the woodpecker dancing on the lawn and hearing him drumming on the branches in the trees. Having so much fun and laughter in the pool in view of the majestic Pyrenees mountains to keep us company. In the evenings the sound of silence that fills the air with peace and tranquility, just made us never want to leave this heavenly part of the Midi-Pyrénées. We want to thank Hazel and Peter for making us feel so at home and so welcome, for all the very useful information they gave us and, last but not least the delicious meal they cooked for us on the evening we arrived. The company, the food and the hospitality were exceptional, Hazel and Peter are the most wonderful hosts and the welcome pack was a great touch too.
We highly recommend Lavender Loft.
Thank you, we always try to provide the best experience we can; glad to hear we seem to be getting it right.
It was great meeting you both, happy house-hunting.
A Home Away From Home in Southern France
We stayed with Hazel and Peter for 5 nights at Lavender Loft and opted for the welcome delicious 3 course dinner on arrival with our hosts. The welcome pack was a delight as it provided us with some “essential” goodies to start off our stay. The unit itself has everything you could ever want, from various kitchen utensils, maps and even dressing gowns and slippers. The bathroom was enormous and the shower modern. The lounge with comfy chairs helped us to end each day with wine and cheese while overlooking the spacious garden. The mattress was wonderful and when needed we could use the heaters… of course, had the weather been warmer we would have used the pool! We enjoyed our privacy, but, when needed, Hazel and Peter would answer any of our queries. We bought baguettes daily from the local boulangerie; the local restaurant was a great find. The location of Lavender Loft in Viozan is ideal for exploring the local villages or for tripping to the Pyrenees. In all, a great find!
Off the beaten track, but near enough to walk to the boulangerie in the tiny village of Viozan, this is a little paradise. The spacious gite is beautiful, with everything you could possibly need, including a fantastic welcome pack of food and wine. It's the little touches everywhere that make this place stand out - the robes for the hot tub, the home-made jams and chutneys and the many kitchen gadgets for cooks are only three examples. There are extensive and well tended grounds with an orchard, sitting areas in both sun and shade, and a fabulous pool.
What makes the gite extra special is the care and attention that Hazel and Peter offer - they are the perfect hosts, managing to be always there when needed but invisible when not! From coping with the non-arrival of our luggage and lending us clothes, to cooking us a wonderful meal on our first evening and recommending countless places to visit, we couldn't have wished for better friends.
We had a glorious late August holiday, spending our time relaxing and enjoying the gite and the immediate locality, spotting butterflies and birds. However, it's only an hour or so to the foothills of the Pyrenees, which can be seen on many days.
Tomatoes and figs fresh from the garden, a glass of wine by the pool, kites soaring overhead and perfect peace. It's exactly what we hoped for and much more besides. Thank you, Hazel and Peter - we'll be back!
Thank YOU Margaret and Andy. So glad you enjoyed staying at Lavender Loft and regard us as friends, the sentiment is totally mutual. It's good to hear the experience and ambience we set out to create is being achieved. We look forward to seeing you on your next visit.
Really enjoyed our stay, Hazel and Peter looked after us to make sure our holiday was as perfect as possible. We will be staying here again.
This was quite comfortably the best place we have stayed in. The ambience, setting and the owners personal touch and attention to our comfort during the stay made us feel rely welcome. Put simply we felt so relaxed in the environment supplied. Thanks Lavender Loft we loved it!!
Robin & Beth!!

It was our first visit to Lavender Loft and it will NOT be the last. The property is extremely comfortable and more like a boutique hotel than self catering. The hosts are delightful and the evening meal was absolutely delicious - we would thoroughly recommend it The combination of high class accommodation, first class amenities and charming and attentive hosts is a winner. In short, if you want to visit the area then this is the place to stay, no need to look any further.
Thank you for your kind review, we are happy that you enjoyed your stay. You were a delight to have as guests and we look forward to you coming back
