Space 3,229 sq. ft.
Property type farmhouse
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

5 Bedrooms, 2 Kitchens, Lounge, Games Room, 3 Bathrooms, Sleeps 14

The property is situated near to the hamlet of Laval, surrounded by beautiful countryside and approached by a quiet lane. There is generous parking, a pretty garden, an enclosed south-facing courtyard with dining area and BBQ flanked by a large barn, an enclosed pool, an elevated timber deck and a grassed field, in all extending to 2.5 acres, with plenty of places to sit or dine in sun or shade! Come inside, and the property is very comfortable and refurbished to a high standard - not just a gite, but a home-from-home. It comprises a four bedroom house, all with good quality beds, a particularly well equipped kitchen, a sitting room with comfortable sofa and armchairs, two modern bathrooms and a laundry room. The adjoining barn contains an enormous bedroom/sitting room with a king size bed, large sofa bed, en suite wash room, a large games room with bar and double sofa bed, a huge modern kitchen/dining room with TV sitting area, a further bathroom and a utility room.

Alfresco Dining: The courtyard provides the perfect spot for one of the great pleasures at the house - alfresco dining. A large group can happily gather at the huge refectory table in the courtyard with assembled chairs and benches. Trees and umbrellas provide shade and the chef has a charcoal BBQ to work on. Additionally, aperitifs may be taken on the spacious raised deck, which is equipped with teak garden furniture and has stunning views of the surrounding countryside.

The lucky couple who stay in the large bedroom in the barn can take breakfast on the private balcony.

Sauveterre de Rouergue: Sauveterre de Rouergue (15mins drive) offers a delightful summer experience every Friday evening in the summer. The village square becomes an evening market place, with stalls selling local crafts such as jewellery, pottery and baskets, but mostly local produce (food and wine)which you can purchase and then sit at long trestle tables, eat your dinner and listen to live folk music. There is also an excellent Pizzaria and several good bar/restaurants. If the children get bored they can go on pony and cart rides around the village or watch the very serious Boule competition. Sauveterre is a magical place and an absolute must if you stay at Laval.

This as one of the best houses we have rented in 40 years travelling around Europe. It was perfect for our extended family of four adults and two toddlers. The large pool was spotless and protected by a sturdy fence. The two separate accommodations, although only yards apart, house and converted barn, were a great fit and allowed a degree of privacy and quiet. The area is steeped in history and has some good restaurants not too far away.

A beautiful house in a beautiful setting.

  • 5 of 5

We had a lovely relaxing week in this stunning house. We felt extremely welcome, there were lots of lovely touches that meant it didn't feel like a typical holiday rental, it was much more welcoming and homely. The house itself has been lovingly renovated, and there are photo albums you can browse to see the process step by step. The end result is a fascinating property with something for everyone - cosy living room, large games room with a bar, terrace and barbecue areas, beautiful swimming pool and an enormous field for games etc. All the facilities were great quality, nothing has been scrimped on. The views are beautiful and there are some lovely walks nearby. There is plenty to do in the area, some beautiful towns and villages, as well as castles and other tourist attractions. A great time was had by all, thank you!

Wonderful house with lots of cosy spots to relax

  • 5 of 5

The two families of us (11 adults in total) spent a wonderful time in this beautiful house: there is plenty of space and possibilities to play and be together and also enough quiet and nice, comfortable spots and corners to relax without being disturbed. We immediately felt at home and enjoyed the generous and practical equipment (kitchen tools, indoor and outdoor games…). Furthermore, we loved having a heated swimming pool witch encouraged us to take baths early in the morning as well as at midnight.

There is also plenty to discover in the nearby area: You can go hiking in rural landscapes or just visit interesting villages and towns. As for shopping options you can easily access Naucelle (e.g.) by car (10min.) where you can find everything you need.

Thanks a lot for letting us stay in your welcoming house!

Séjour très agréable

  • 5 of 5

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments. The weather was particularly hot for a short while this summer and we are providing plenty of the electric fans to the house to keep everyone cool.

Gîte et séjour trés agréable

  • 5 of 5

This is the Aveyron in Southern France where you can still hear the old language of the 'Oc'. It is as yet largely undiscovered by tourists and is totally unspoilt - fantastic walking country with an abundance of wild life, including many birds of prey. An easy drive will take you to 14th Century villages, several of which are designated as 'the most beautiful villages in France': Sauveterre, Najac, Belcastel, Conques and Cordes. The home town of Toulouse Lautrec, Albi (40 mins), boasts a remarkable cathedral and a unique collection of his paintings. The 'Bastide' town of Villefranche (30 mins) hosts a fantastic market on Thursday mornings. Rieupeyroux (8 k) & Naucelle (7k) offer full facilities including restaurants and supermarkets, and Pradinas (3 k) has a popular bar/restaurant. For the gourmets - a traditional regional cuisine, a wealth of local suppliers, proximity to 3 major wine areas - Quercy, Gaillac and Languedoc - and 2 Michelin starred restaurants within 30 minutes.

Other Activities: canoeing, table tennis, boules, table football, pool .

Golf: Rodez has a recommended 18 hole course.

Our field can be quickly transformed into an 18 pitch and putt course. Clubs are provided and Tee markers, hole hoops and numbered flags are available to be laid out as you wish.
