Lovely quiet location at end of Lake
Debbie & Tom are so nice and provide a wonderful setting and nice accommodations to enjoy a relaxing, peaceful stay. The house is well equipped with nice deck and the dock offers beautiful views and a place for your boat or you can use their canoe and paddle boat (lots of fun). The fire pit is a nice spot to unwind and toast marshmellows and it's very nice that they allow you to bring your dog along on vacation.
Dianne & family, You were great guests to end our season with. Fun folks & such a nice dog. Hope to see you again in 2018. Tom & Debbie
Nice area but rent another place
My family stayed at this cottage for a week this summer. The cottage is extremely basic, one small step above camping. Water access and the lake is great. The cottage itself is so/so at best. I'd camp before returning and cut my expense in half. All the beds are incredibly old and uncomfortable. And I can sleep anywhere! The couch and chair in the tv room were not much better. I literally slept on 2 different beds and the couch and not once got a good nights sleep. Kitchen ware and utensils are sparse and some were even quite rusty. I know renting a cottage you get what you get but this was a bummer.
Wow! We couldn’t be more surprised by this review, we regret that it was not to your taste. All of our guests have been very happy as reflected on our past reviews (all 5 star) and many have returned year after year. The 3 double and 1 single mattress have been replaced in the last 5 years. Considering they are only slept on maybe 10 weeks per year, they may be firm, but they are new. The kitchen….I’ve often teased folks that they could cook a turkey in there. The appliances are clean and in excellent working order. The dishes are an English Pattern, no chips. The cookware is plentiful and replaced as needed yearly. And the frosted mugs in the freezer are always appreciated to kick off a great vacation week. We usually do an exit review with our guests at check out to help us make our property even better each year. We wish you a great vacation experience next year wherever you go and hope it meets your expectations!
We had a great week. The property was awesome and it was charming, quiet and private. It was centrally located so it was easy to get to place although it was so nice an peaceful that you just wanted to stay put. We rented a paddle board for my daughter and she had a great time learning how to use it and being in the new wake zone was a bonus. On the last day we got a treat a were able to watch a pair of loons with a little one - that was amazing. And the bullhead fishing after 8 pm was really good. We can't wait to go back. The owners are great people - I would recommend renting this place to anyone.
Thank you so much, Sonya. You're the best. See you next year!
Beautful and tranquil repsite on a stunning lake!
Second year at this awesome cabin on beautiful Winnisquam. We love the location and the lake itself. Close proximity to most area attractions, yet situated on the quiet side of the lake to provide for a peaceful stay. The kids really enjoyed both kayaking and hanging on the dock. The Owners are extremely friendly and attentive, though the cabin rarely needs any support.
We would highly recommend a stay here (except the time we want it)
We are so glad you continue to enjoy the cottage and lake. And we will see you for your 3rd stay in 2018!
What a week! 7/15-7/22
We look forward to our week every year and this year was no different. There is nothing better than an entire week on, in or next to the water! It’s only a short drive to great restaurants, hiking and even shopping but the amazing part is that you don’t hear any road traffic making Tom & Debbie’s cottage the perfect location. This year we decided to give stand up paddle boarding a try. The cottage is in the no wake area so it’s the ideal place to learn SUP. We found a local business renting both paddle boards and kayaks and within no time at all the girls were up and paddling around. Tom and Debbie, we’d like to say thank you, our stay was once again the highlight of our year and we are so looking forward to seeing you next year!!
Thank you so much for the kind words. We look forward to seeing you folks again in 2017! And you're right.... Paddle boarding is perfect in the no-wake zone. It also attracts the curious loons. Have a Merry Christmas!
Cozy, Clean, Pet-friendly & Great location
We stayed at Tom and Debs guest house/cabin a little over a week thanks to some extra availability at the cabin, It was mostly my wife, myself and our chocolate lab Duke as well as a few friends for a couple of the nights.
The Cottage was as advertised and as clean as you could ask for. Plenty of space and all the amenities you would expect in a seasonal camp. It is located on the best part of the lake in the cove which is a no wake zone. Perfect for canoeing, kayaking, fishing, etc. The other nice thing about the location is the absolute quietness of the cabin, no road noise, not much lake noise, yet close to both Meredith and Laconia right in the heart of the lakes region.
Initially I was a little concerned about the cottage being so close to the living quarters of the hosts as I like my privacy and I hate to intrude on others. However Tom and Deb were great at giving us full access to the property and making us feel at ease. They were available if you needed anything and offered great recommendations on things to do and places to eat. They even took us out on a great hike in the Belknap mountain range.
We were able to use their deep water dock for our 18’ boat but it appears it could easily accommodate a larger boat. With that said you don’t really even need a boat to enjoy this cottage, there is a canoe and a paddle boat available and just relaxing and swimming off the dock which gets full sun is enjoyable.
A few other recommendations in the area include the Tree top Adventure tour at Gunstock (lots of fun), Tavern 27 (make reservations for dinner), Kitchen Cravings (for breakfast), Patricks Pub in Gilford (for beers & apps), Lanna Thai food (for takeout), Lakeside Deli in Meredith (for lunch)
In summary we had a great week at the lake, we did not want to go home. Our dog Duke was depressed when we left and is still tired from all the swimming he did. We will be returning at some point!
You guys were perfect & fun guests. We sincerely hope we will see you again!
