We are a canadian/german family and this is our second home in London. We live and work in Singapore and our families are in Toronto and Frankfurt, our friends are living all over the world and that is why London makes a good middle ground for meeting up with everyone. We spend many memorable times together here in London, we all enjoy tremendously what this city has to offer. We have been holiday renting via VRBO/HomeAway since early 2012 and hope our visitors will find the same enjoyment and can make happy memories in staying at our place in London.
Silvia purchased this Apartment in 2009
Why Silvia chose South Kensington
We like this neighbourhood and the period buildings with their private garden squares. We loved this flat and knew this was it the minute we walked in - the proportions, big windows, high ceilings, period features, a gentleman owner who had kept it immaculate - the sale was agreed in a day. We had been coming to stay in Kensington&Chelsea since the 1990'ies and have friends who live in this neighborhood or else own a second home here. And we wanted to be able to spend more time in London. We feel familiar, safe and comfortable and we like the convenient location and we like to walk - which we never do much in Singapore. I like to walk up to High Street Kensington or down to the Kings Road to meet friends for a coffee or lunch and a bit of shopping. Or just pop around the corner to a cafe or a pub to meet for a coffee or drink on short notice. I'll have a walk to visit my favourite, the Victoria & Albert Museum, just by myself. If I feel like going for a power walk or son/husband feel like a jog, we are at the Hyde Park in a few mins. In summer we take a picnic and sit on the sun chairs watching everyone enjoying a relaxing time, and there's always something going on in the Park. This neighbourhood is very cosmopolitan and the South Kensington weekend market is a piece of little Paris - oh the food! I think London is a walking city and being in this location you never miss a car. If we need to get anywhere beyond walking distance the tube is 4 mins away or a taxi available outside the front door. But, our flat is our second home, it certainly has the ambience and comfort to also enjoy just staying in, relaxing and have the world go by. We feel it really offers us a reprieve from the tropics and busy daily life in Singapore.
What makes this Apartment unique
We love the generous sense of space, the high ceilings, period fire place, stuccoed ceilings, chandeliers, window to the quiet court yard in the bed room. Being able to open the double doors between lounge and bedroom to open up the space, it is a comfortable and inviting space and has a good ambiance. Our art work and decorative pieces had been with us many years or were additions from more recent travels, so it feels like our second home, not just a pied-a-terre. We have enough space to share a social week end with entertaining friends or enjoy some quiet, relaxation time after a busy day bustling about in the galleries, museums etc. We love the 'holiday size' of the apartment, big enough not to feel too crowded with four people, but small enough not to worry too much about all the household chores to keep it tidy and clean.

This is our third stay at this wonderful Kensington flat. It is very welcoming and comfortable. The flat is located half way between the Earls Court and Gloucester Road tube stations, giving one easy access to any place in London. The owner is terrific and always has someone at the flat when you arrive. Just a great place to stay.
Thank you again James for your wonderful review. Always a pleasure hosting you both. Take care and best wishes Silvia
Beautiful flat in a lovely neighborhood
This was the quintessential London flat. Supermarket nearby, subway stop 5 min walk. The neighborhood was very upscale and safe.
Dear Julie, thank you for your nice review. It is much appreciated and good to know that you and your family enjoyed all that our apartment has to offer for comfort and also the lovely neighbourhood as much as we do ourselves. Best wishes and hope to host you again in the future. Best regards Silvia
Fantastic location for a relaxing stay
My husband, son and I had a wonderful, relaxing stay in this beautiful apartment. We wished to be within walking distance of Imperial College London and this location was ideal - easy access by car (outside of the congestion charge zone) and close to a tube station but on a nice, quiet road. Supermarkets were close by (Sainsburys, Waitrose and Tesco Express) and it was an easy and fairly quiet 15 min walk to Kensington High Street.
The apartment has easy access with just a few steps up to the front door and was extremely spacious. The kitchen was fully equipped for meal preparation and there were also supplies of essential ingredients - tea, coffee, sugar, spices, etc. It was lovely to be able to return to a large lounge to relax at the end of the day.
Booking was quick and easy with the owner replying promptly to any queries and also checking that everything was to our satisfaction after we had arrived. Check in/check out was straightforward.
We would not hesitate to return to this lovely apartment.
We would not hesitate to return
Dear Julie, thank you so much for your wonderful review on your stay at our apartment in London. I am pleased you all had a pleasant stay and enjoyed what our apartment had to offer, as well as the lovely neighbourhood. We try to keep it as welcoming to us as to our guests and certainly hope to host you and your family again in the future. Best regards Silvia
Lovely flat in great location.
The flat was adequate space for our family of four (13 and 15 year old kids). The second room with the daybed is tiny. The couch in the living room was comfortable for the fourth sleeper. The galley kitchen is well equipped, although we didn't end up cooking much with all the eating establishments in the area.
The location is perfect, a short walk from Gloucester station and the grocery store. Nice neighborhood.
Silvia, the owner, was great to work with. There was a greeter waiting for us at the flat when we arrived to orient us. And she let us store our luggage in the flat after checkout so that we could hang out in the city longer before our flight out.
All in all, a lovely apartment and a nice stay. Would recommend!
Thank you very much for your favourable review. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay at our apartment and all that the neighbourhood had to offer. Please come and stay again on your next trip to London. Best Regards Silvia
Silvia's place is inviting, well-equipped and in a wonderful location. Access to two tube stops and many grocery stores can't be beat. Since we tend to cook while traveling, it was important for the kitchen to have all of the amenities we need. Silvia didn't disappoint.
As a family of three, we look for a place with enough space to have personal space yet not feel to large. Silvia's is a nice balance.
Can't imagine a disappointed rental with this place.
Dear Amy, thank you so much for your kind review of your stay. I am very happy you all enjoyed your stay at our apartment, felt at home and appreciated all the comforts of our home and what it has to offer. We stay ourselves regularly and make sure it remains a proper home to enjoy. jWe certainly hope to host you again in the future. Best regards Silvia
Wonderful apartment & location
We spent a fantastic week at Silvia's apartment. It was our first visit to London, the apartment was conveniently located near a Tube station and the apartment itself was gorgeous. We are a family of 4 with 2 teen daughters...renting an apartment instead of 2 hotel rooms was a much better choice. Silvia was wonderful to work with, and made sure we had everything we needed. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to London!
Dear K. and family, I am delighted you all enjoyed staying at our home in London and had such a good first trip. And thank you very much for your compliments - I do try and make it welcoming, after all, I spend quite a few weeks a year there myself and like my creature comforts. Please come again - London is worth more than one trip! Best regards Silvia
