|Minimum Stay||7 nights|
Our chalet has four bedrooms on three floors (three doubles and one twin-bedded room). There are three bathrooms and four WCs, a fully-fitted kitchen with Miele appliances (dishwasher, cooker and fridge-freezer), a large dining/living area with open log fireplace and a reading room with books and DVDs. The chalet has Wi-Fi, cable television (including English TV channels), DVD player, music system (turntable/CD player) and pool table (located in the garage). There is a laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer and a boiler room, great for drying out wet clothes and for storing gear. Under floor heating creates a warm, cosy atmosphere throughout the winter months. There is a wonderful panoramic view of the mountains from the lower and upper balconies of the chalet. Two bedrooms lead directly onto the upper balcony and the lower balcony has a seating area with gas barbecue - great for an early evening glass of wine or G&T, watching the sun set during summer! Although just a ten minute stroll from the village, the chalet is in a quiet residential area, surrounded by lawned garden and is afforded privacy by mature trees and bushes. There is parking for several cars, as well as a car port, very useful for keeping the snow off your vehicle in winter!
We have owned Les Trois Frères since March 2007 and have many happy memories of times spent in the chalet and of Leysin. We are sure that you will have a wonderful, relaxing holiday. Come and visit this hidden jewel in the Swiss Alps and find out for yourself! Do not hesitate to call us should you wish to discuss any aspect of your holiday planning. We will pleased to help!
Nick Gaillet purchased this chalet in 2007
It is beautiful! Cosy but spacious. Rustic mountain charm with modern appliances and underfloor heating. The sun is on the balcony during the whole of the day making it the perfect spot to sit out with good book all year round.
Leysin has several fine restaurants in the old part of the village (our favourites for both atmosphere and food are ‘La Fromagerie’ and ‘Le Leysin’, located next door to each other), as well as pubs, pizzerias and a creperie. There is a Coop supermarket and a convenience store (‘Pam’), as well as several bakeries, a butcher, newsagent, chemist, bank and two churches. At the top of the telecabine, there is a revolving restaurant where one can dine whilst enjoying magnificent views of the surrounding mountains. There are a number of other excellent places to eat and drink at various convenient locations in the ski areas. You will find information about local restaurants and activities in a folder in the chalet. There is a tourist office in the centre of the village (located in the sports centre), where you can get information about all these activities and much more. There is also an excellent website about Leysin with lots more information and plenty of ideas about how to spend your holiday.
For non-skiers, there is so much else to do if you prefer not to ‘hit the slopes’. There are many hiking and cycling trails for walkers and bikers of all abilities to explore. Other activities include horse riding, paragliding, mini golf, snow shoeing (on well-marked trails or ‘off piste’), cross country skiing and sledging. The village has two sports centres, one with an indoor swimming pool, squash and tennis courts; the other with skating and curling rinks. There is a toboggan park in the village and an igloo built of ice where fondue and drinks are served during the winter months – or until the ice melts!
My wife surprised me with a week's holiday in Switzerland where we had lived and worked several years ago. We had always loved the Lake Geneva region. Although we had not visited Leysin before, Celia had heard about the village from friends who recommended it. Les Trois Freres was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday. It is in a lovely spot, very comfortable inside, amazing views, quiet, yet close enough to the village to not feel cut off. We enjoyed relaxing on the balcony of the chalet with an evening drink and had days out to old haunts in Montreux and Vevey on Lake Geneva. Thank you Nick and Amanda for allowing us to share your beautiful home for a week that we will never forget!
Leysin village is located at 1300m and is reputed to be one of the sunniest places in Switzerland! Access to the village is by car (less than half an hour from the motorway) or train (twenty minutes from Aigle on a mountain rail track). Leysin is approximately one and half hours from Geneva airport by road or rail. During winter, there are plenty of opportunities to ski or snowboard (blue, red and black runs). Leysin is one of seven resorts that make up the Alpes Vaudoise region (over 200 kms of pistes), so you will not be bored! The chalet is located just ten minutes' walk away from a ski school for beginners/intermediates and a well-stocked ski rental shop, both conveniently located opposite the telecabine/ski lift in the village.
