About the property

Four to Five bedroom 3 1/2 bath directly on the beach.

Especially for the discriminating! This house has very recently been practically fully updated! If you considered it before, take another look. A brand new covered Tiled Deck protecting you from possible showers (we hope they don't happen) as well as the Sun if needed. Enjoy the "Forever View" of the Atlantic as you enjoy your coffee/breakfast in the mornings or cocktails in the evening. A gourmet kitchen that flows through to expansive living living room with three French doors that open to the covered deck. Recent new carpeting, new paint, new appliances and lighting. We know the value of having a "better than average" home to enjoy. Our beach home has all the amenities of home. Four bedrooms with three and a half bathrooms, but also a Sun room that functions as a 5th bedroom with a queen pull out sofa. A Large flat screen TV in living room over the fireplace (current photo may not show this at this time) and an even larger flat screen in the Master suite. Master suite is upstairs on the extra LARGE main living/dining/playing area with King bed. Large Master bath has two vanities a large jetted tub and large walk in shower. You can shower as you look through the master bedroom at the ocean...WOW! It's very romantic. Three downstairs bedrooms include a Jack and Jill bathroom and a cozy bed room with has a queen bed, bedroom two has a queen bed and and bedroom three has twin beds with a private full bath. A "mini" bar with a sink is located in the downstairs hallway. A "well, fully stocked" kitchen with an "island" that affords more than two people in the kitchen at one time.

About Lynn and Jerry Russell

My husband Jerry and our two babies Weezer and Lucky moved to Fernandina Beach years ago. We are members of First Baptist Church where I volunteer. We love living in the beautiful beach town of Fernandina Beach because you get that home town feeling here. We are very blessed to have many true, loyal friends as we're sure you do in your home town. My husband and I are both from the Middle Georgia area, he from McRae and I am from from Dudley. We cherish our memories growing up in small towns, so FB hits home with us. The town has so much to offer with historic down town and the fort as well as restaurants, shopping and all the walking and bike riding you can handle. It is a very pet friendly town, but more importantly it is a pet friendly beach. Weezer and Lucky look forward to their walks on the beach with all their pals, Hannah, Chloe, Casey, Jenna, Rosie and Tippy and all the rest of the beach gang.....

Lynn and Jerry Russell purchased this house in 2005

Why Lynn and Jerry Russell chose Amelia Island

This home offers quiet and peace, excitement and practically your own private, uncrowded part of the beach. We fell in love with house and decided to live here full time for a couple years before putting it on the rental market. We did a lot of remodeling and moved into the house and have just now again invested time, energy and $ in upgrades and improvements. The BEST just got BETTER! We know you'll love this home, it's large master suite awakening to the Sunrise over the Atlantic. Every bedroom is larger than what you'll find in other homes. It's so centrally located on the island. A public pool and YMCA pool is within a mile and a half from the house. You can walk to a couple of favorite restaurants on the beach from the house and you're about a mile from the Sandbar Kitchen right on the beach.

What makes this house unique

On a part of the beach that you can almost call your private beach as it's away from the crowds and noise, It's safe and provides comfort. With sweeping views from master bedroom and all of living area.

Plenty of room for everyone. There is a grass yard in the back for outdoor activities you or the kids may want to do

Beautiful view

  • 2 of 5

My review is based on a two month stay. The view is absolutely stunning, especially from the master bedroom and deck. The kitchen is well appointed, but some appliances need to be updated (oven needing repairing, microwave broke, and stovetop is old.) All the bedrooms are comfortable, with ensuite bathrooms. The master bath is very nice but don’t use the jacuzzi tub...there isn’t enough hot water to use the jets. The living room is cozy but the furniture quite old. Also, even though the pictures show a fireplace, it is not available for renters to use. I rented the property because it had a fireplace for my Jan/Feb visit so this was disappointing. The carpet also needs cleaning as quite dirty and stained. There is a whole house vacuum but it didn’t work. I was told there would be cleaning after a month but was never called. There is a garage but no opener or code for renters. I have rented numerous vrbo’s and I also rent properties myself. My biggest issue with these owners was trying to contact them. As with any beach property, things go wrong. Trying to get the owners to respond became quite stressful. When I did have an issue (furnace, microwave, water, wifi outage), I would call, text, and email multiple numbers and times. With a mobile phone, this shouldn’t be a problem...but it was. Calling resulted in voicemail only responses. This property is also for sale and was shown to potential buyers during my stay. Not an issue for me but might be for future renters. Lastly, the home sits on Fletcher Avenue which is quite a busy street. Expect traffic noise. I am providing this inclusive review as I read reviews when I am looking to rent and appreciate knowing what to expect. The views are gorgeous, as are the dunes. The property has much to offer and comfortable for large groups. It’s also pet friendly, as is the beach. My largest issue was getting the owners to respond. The problems would eventually be resolved but it took multiple attempts at contact.

Misled by owners - caveat emptor

  • 1 of 5

We reserved this place several months ago, pre Hurricane Irma. We paid our deposit, and then paid the remaining amount a month ago. So far so good. No word from the owners post hurricane. Then, just 3 days before we were set to arrive, the owner calls and offers us "the option of upgrading to a different unit that was much nicer." Apparently the property we reserved (this one) was hurricane damaged. The alternate property was much further from the beach and on a busier, noisier stretch of road south of Sadler Road. We said, no, if as you say it is just siding damage, we'll stay where we are. Well, she had lied. It was not actually an option, we just had to take the new place. So much for an "option". By now, we had no options, especially as we have 2 dogs and pet friendly is limited. We are sure this was their plan all along - take our money, knowing the place wouldn't be ready (on our bike rides we could see it was swarmed with workers every day), and leave us with no options. The "upgraded" place was noisy - sitting on the ocean facing deck, all we heard was truck traffic rather than waves and surf. Then, they insisted that we had to leave while they showed the house on the day before we were to check out. No thanks. Will never ever rent from these people again. Just be honest, folks. That's all we ask.

Great house for a large family

  • 5 of 5

Just stayed at this house my 3 young children and several family members including great-grandparents and had a wonderful time. The house is well kept with excellent views. The walk to the beach is a bit cumbersome through the dunes for the older folks and toddlers but well worth it. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to stay in the area with a large party.
