My name is Amy Sage. I established the first vacation rental home in the Bitterroot Valley with the SweetSage Guest House in 1999. As a stay-at-home mother of three children ages 8-17, I have gradually expanded my vacation rental business to manage other nearby properties while still allowing myself to be home for my family. I am dedicated to providing my guests with the best the Bitterroot has to offer with clean, quiet, private surroundings and all the comforts of home. I am pleased to bring the Riverside Cottage to my vacation rental offerings.
We love the recreational opportunities the Bitterroot Valley has to offer. This quaint little cottage is right on the banks of the Bitterroot River and is close to Lost Trail Ski area, Painted Rocks Res. and Como Lake.
We fish and float the river right in front of the cottage. Cook out on the grill. Sleep under the stars (yes, there is a skylight over the bed!), and its so refreshing.
Very much enjoyed the stay. Caught some small fish in the river and explored the area. Only drawback was lack of internet and spotty phone service. But sometimes you have to put these things away and do something different. Very clean place and big kitchen. Comfy bed and good shower. Everything that is needed to charge up the batteries before the next leg of the trip.
We had a great time at the Riverside Cottage! We had fun hiking and exploring the area, then came 'home' to a nice dinner - courtesy of the gas grill. Jon fished every day - and caught a fish every day! - right out the back door. I read and relaxed under the shade of a tree and waited for him to holler that he had a fish! I'd run with the camera and capture the moment :) We also enjoyed watching the deer in the field across the road.
As we were told, the kitchen has not been updated, but I found it had everything I needed to make a good healthy dinner. The cottage was clean and has been well maintained.
This little house was perfect for the two of us. It's very clean, light and open and you're always within close proximity to each other, but there's plenty of room so you don't feel like you're on top of each other. Furniture is comfortable and there is plenty of kitchen supplies. Loved sitting under the big tree reading in the shade with the birds and river in the background and the nightly visits from both the deer and elk. Watched a few of the DVDs, we're just bummed we didn't find the games until our last night there (they're under the TV).
Excellent location for a quiet getaway.... Amy was amazing and made sure all of our needs were met... So close to the river and very quiet...
Had a blast at the cottage. Great location that allows easy access to a super section of river to fish. Lack of TV is a bummer, but we made the best of it and watched movies. Luckily, it cools down quick at night we were there during a 100+ deg heat wave and overall were pretty comfortable without AC. Its very neat and clean. Amy was very nice, accomodating, and easy to rent from. Would love to go there again.
This Serene Cottage on the bank of the East Fork of Bitterroot River was a soul healing vacation spot that was a bit of heaven on earth for me. I traveled from Peoria Arizona to vacation from June 1-10th, 2013 arriving to find the cottage all prepared, clean, and ready for my stay. The yard and river were my favorite place to relax and reflect on life. It is a wonderful place, and to have someone share it with me, thank you. Thank you so much Amy for seeing that it was all setup for my stay and just what I needed. This is a ideal place for a longer stay. There were fishing poles in the garage so off to town I went to purchase my fishing license and tried by hand at fishing...I really didn't need to catch anything as it was just relaxing to just watch the ducks with their babies, and the Canadian geese and their babies in the river, so peaceful and nature at it's best. There are houses near by, but you would not know it because you really can't see them and it feels like you are all alone but not. When dusk came calling (about 9:30 pm) it was nice to find a lovely bedroom with nice linens to sleep and boy did I sleep like a baby as it was cool during the night, and warmed up during the day. I made a video for friends and they are all jealous of my vacation at the River Cottage in Conner Montana, they want to come with me if and when I am able to make it back. Thank you so much Amy, my husband (RIP) would have loved it as I did!!
The Bitterroot River is nationally famous for its tremendous fishing. Wilderness areas and national forest lands surround the neighborhood. The area is home to majestic peaks, crystal clear streams and abundant wildlife. From rugged to well groomed, hiking, biking, and riding possibilities abound. About 20 miles to the south is Lost Trail Ski area, which is open Thurs-Sun during the ski season. Lost Trail offers lifts and a pleasant skiing opportunity without the crowds. Chief Joseph pass has an extensive network of groomed cross-country trails and is right next to Lost Trail. You can also have a swim in the warm pool at Lost Trail Hot Springs, which is right on the way. But with the river just a stone's throw away from your back door, you may be tempted to spend all of your time right there. We think you'll agree that our river cottage is an accommodation that is the destination. So give us a call, pack your bags and come enjoy all that western Montana has to offer.
