Why Karen Elliott chose Napa
My husband and I have a beautiful home nestled in the gorgeous Napa Valley. This is a custom modern day farm style home with an apartment with a separate entrance and a respect for privacy. We are trying to provide a unique relaxing environment in the beautiful Napa Valley.
What makes this Apartment unique
Capell Creek runs through our front yard trout & salmon fishing available. There are many places to hike our charming property meets up to BLM land and easily accessible from our property, areas that are not easily accessible from anywhere else. Ample wildlife throughout the property. We also have an outdoor screened in gazebo with a gas fireplace for relaxing or entertainment.

Great getaway for city Napans looking for country living.
The renting was super easy. Owner Karen answered all our q hi questions prior to our arrival. We stayed the whole month of July and got to know our hosts Karen and Darryl quite well. We had a lot in common with Karen, Sharon and I growing up in San Francisco and both Darryl, Karen and I being ordained ministers in the same church. If you are looking for a peaceful and tranquil abode then this apartment above their home is the venue for you!
BottleRock weekend in Napa
Karen was such a fantastic hostess! The rental was super clean and spacious. The views were phenomenal. It was easy to get to and from the festival and all that downtown Napa has to offer and close to some amazing wineries as well.
The Property is beautiful and Karen and Darrell are very nice, great hosts!!
Privacy can be an issue, although the apartment is above the garage it is attached to the house. Karen and Darrell had a family barbecue but some of the family stayed thru the night and one couple kept going in and out of their car which was parked just to the side of the apartment, it was a bit strange and went on to about 10 or 11 at night. Other than that it was perfect! 30 min to Napa or St. Helena and Calistoga with lots of wine tasting along the way. The Turtle Rock store and bar was awesome and the Italian restaurant was out of this world!! I would just check to make sure Darrell and Karen didn't have any plans during your stay.
Great Location and Wonderful Hosts
The apartment is a great location for access to Lake Berryessa for you and your dog. The stream through the property was the perfect cooling off solution for the hot weather. The apartment has everything you need to be comfortable, including air conditioning. Karen and her family are wonderful and friendly hosts and I can recommend staying with them.
Great ammenities and a quiet, secluded mountain retreat close to Lake Berryessa.
This property is peaceful and quiet, yet just a short drive to the famous Turtle Rock café & bar, the boat ramps and beaches at Lake Berryessa, as well as Napa Valley wineries.
Nicholini winery, a mere ten minutes from the property, is the oldest continuously owned family winery in Napa, and well worth a visit! Call ahead to confirm visiting hours.
We also enjoyed the Turtle Rock café just down the road, with a small store, "world famous" egg rolls, breakfast Saturday and Sunday (try the egg's benedict, with homemade Hollandaise sauce), Gooey cheeseburgers, and great Bloody Mary's at the full bar.
The property sits on Turtle Creek, and there is a small beach along the creek, with a picnic area for guests to use, tall pines, and expansive, green lawns. At night you can hear the frogs and crickets, and not much else. The rooms are in a secluded wing above the garage of the main house and we never heard a peep out of the owners at night.
We saw deer grazing the lawn in the morning light, woodpeckers greeting the day, and wild turkeys nesting in the trees by the creek. Even the local wildlife are charmed by this captivating, restful Valhalla.
The rental includes a kitchenette suitable for simple food preparation, a modern coffee maker, plus use of an outdoor grill. It's a well-appointed unit; comfortable, clean, and airy. There's A/C available, but the house is well insulated and stays cool on all but the hottest days, so we barely used it.
The owners, Darrel and Karen, are very thoughtful and considerate, and left us to ourselves unless we needed something, in which case they were friendly and super-accommodating.
There's a futon, and plenty of extra bedding, so a family of four would be fine. Kids will love the creek, beach, and wildlife... You'll love how quiet, restful, and romantic it is.
We'll be back!
