Fairytale House in the Woods

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Batson Creek was better than we could have ever imagined. Off the beaten path and surrounded by a sanctuary of sorts, this is an ideal escape. The house has many different areas to relax in and explore. We have two children ( 2 & 4 at the time) who were enchanted by the upstairs bedrooms above the main house which have details suggestive of a fairytale wonderland. The furnishings were new and stylish but comfortable as well. The master bedroom is bright, open, has a huge bed and its own bath - very private. The grounds are beautiful and our kids enjoyed climbing the huge rocks. The owner couldn't be nicer or more accommodating. There were many helpful guides to the area available around the house. On rainy days we visited some of the nearby towns and attractions. When the weather was nice, we were usually found at Goose Rocks Beach. Our children talk about our trip to Maine almost every day - Batson Creek is a big part of why they loved the vacation so much. We will be back.

Relax in style

  • 5 of 5

Drive down a wooded road and turn across a babbling brook into a little bit of heaven. Listen hard but hear only vague forest noises and the sound of the dingle. Enter the uniquely designed home and immediately feel welcomed by the astounding collection of furniture, each piece more unusual yet inviting than the last. Tension dissipates, the mood instantly elevates and true vacation begins. Our return is already planned.

Magic in the air

  • 5 of 5

I'm a French-Canadian guy, so I'll do my best to resume in English my 2 weeks at this wonderful house. The master bedroom is large, comfy and full of light. There's a secret way in between two rooms at the second floor. A red cabin in the woods, and a brook that surround the house, transformed my young daughter into a little Lara Croft. There's a garden and wild flowers everywhere. Butterflies and birds singing in the morning. It's really a peaceful place, with magic in the air, and the beach not very far. That's why my family and I will be back next summer!

NB. Brooke, the owner, is very nice and cool, and the two caretaker, very obliging and discreet.

A perfect retreat for young and old!

  • 5 of 5

This home simply embraces you when you first cross over the babbling brook on the wooden bridge. Every little detail of this home made our stay so perfect, from the morning sunshine flooding over the beautiful wooden floors, to the family cooking in the fabulous up to date kitchen at night, we all had such a wonderful time. The gardens and woods surrounding the home made for great adventuring and peaceful walks. This truly is a gem of a spot that we will come back to year after year.

The beaches are very convenient, and downtown Kennebunkport is adorable for the shopper and foodie alike. September was a perfect time to visit as the weather was still beautiful and the tourist season had died slightly. I recommend this home to any!

Cozy & Rustic - Great beaches nearby

  • 5 of 5

We have such a ball at this wonderfully cozy home in Kennebunkport. Coming from the city, it is so great for the kids to run around in the back yard/woods and to climb the huge old rocks on the property (there's even a sweet treehouse over a stream!) We rode bikes to goose rocks beach and visited the new restaurant at Hidden Pond. Despite the rain late in the week, we played board games and hung around the great dining room table that looks out over the lush woods. Such a dreamy setting! Lots of bedrooms and space for the whole family to spread out. The owners are super accommodating and helped with directions, ideas for day trips and were really laid back! We've been for three summers in a row and can't wait to head back this July...

A Quiet Escape near Goose Rocks Beach

  • 5 of 5

A nice quiet escape in the woods, an easy bike ride on country roads to the beach.

A handmade house that is relaxing and intimate.

Fire pit in the backyard to sit around, lots of room for children to run freely.

The owners were friendly and helpful with our questions.

Wonderful spot!
