The brief on this brand spanking newly furnished architect and interior designed lateral home was to create a light and airy feel, make it cosy but modern, and grown up but not stuffy. 100% achieved. This gorgeous home, equally suited to a family or for a romantic getaway, packs it all in with a 45 foot room spanning 2 large and spacious reception areas with 2 custom sofas: one so oversized that you can lounge four people comfortably (it’s 13 ft by 4 ft to be exact).
Owned by a seriously peripatetic family who are currently stationed in NYC for a few years, the well dressed open plan living space glows with a pale freshness created by a carefully chosen colour palette, acres of ground floor space for roaming around in and custom furnishings everywhere you glance. The overall result is delightful English sensibility meets American wide open spaces.
You won’t be caught short on neighbourhood action in Notting Hill. The whole area is buzzing with great shops, cafés, bars and family friendly restaurants. Having had your fill of this fashionable neighbourhood, you can jump on the bus at the stop right outside the house, to take you and your brood to the further sightseeing delights of the capital - all within easy transport of 1/2 hour.
The galley style featureless kitchen has everything you need to produce a family meal to be enjoyed at the large modern, gleaming table with swivel chair seating for up to 8. After which time you can settle down in front of the 46” flat screen to catch some great British television or a DVD.
Privacy and quiet are further key benefits of this home which is set off the street down a leafy fern strewn landscaped path. In fact its so private no one can see the house from the street.
WIFI is of course standard, there is a set Bose powered speakers to plug your tunes into, while you are enjoy great views of park life via windows flanked on either side of the living room that are set off by a massive crumbling Victorian mirror in between.
Sleeping arrangements are spread across two lovely bedrooms. The master has a queen bed and a luxurious marble clad en suite with roomy shower, the 2nd bedroom is a cosy space with a double bed and a single bed that can sleep 3 in comfort: all with wall mounted swivel reading lamps and custom headboards and valances in neutral linen stripes. Both bedrooms have large pivoting velux windows with black out blinds when complete darkness is desired.
The 2nd spacious bathroom has a large tub and hand shower and gleams all white marble throughout.
Finally, a custom pull out double sofa bed in one of the reception areas can sleep your rangy teenager wanting his own space or another couple as the case may be, making this home work any which way for whatever guest configuration is needed.
Your hosts are a very British family (Scottish to be exact) that have lived all over the world. Based in NYC for the foreseeable future, the host works with the UN resolving world conflicts. They have asked me to manage their home for vacation rentals whilst managing my own home which I have been offering to guests for several years now and attested by strong 5 star feedback. I am excited to be offering 'all about space and light' as a sister property my own. They go hand in hand. I am American and grew up in Santa Barbara, CA and have been living in London for 20 years where I am raising my family.

Notting Hill and the life blood that is Portobello Market is inspiring to be a part of each day. It is a real neighbourhood in the old fashioned sense. Daily trips to Portobello Road for your morning capp, procuring of vegetables & fruit from old fashioned greengrocer stalls in the market itself and generally soaking up the wonderful atmosphere make this area very special. It still retains it's individual feel and there is a wonderful mix of ethnic races which add to the local flavour. Leafy streets, great architecture and the wonderful open green space of Kensington Memorial Park literally next door are wonderful amenities. The tennis courts in the park and the playground area is a real godsend for kids!
This unique west facing home has a wonderful feeling of space and light which it gets from it's double height ceiling and windows on three sides and is what makes this home unique. This house has great flow and can take a large family comfortably so everyone can be doing their own thing without bumping into each other such as in more typical terraced housing where the houses are very narrow and the light source is only from the front and back of the house.

Lovely apartment, great host which made it better. Marina was readily available whenever I needed her great correspondence everything was clear and concise. If I had to knock it, it's not as central to the Notting Hill area as I would've liked it to be especially after a late night out. But for the reasonable rates I can't complain that much. The outside could use some TLC as the shrubs need some serious trimming and a wipe out of the cobwebs, as the kids were getting creeped out thinking a creepy crawly was going to get them. Other then those two minor things it didn't bother our trip one bit. Thanks again Marina for letting us enjoy the apartment.
We only had one water issue in the shower but these things happen. We enjoyed very much your home!! It was perfect for our stay in London this trip. Thank you!
We enjoy the house very much. Very close to portobello. When you get use to the transportation everything is very close. Use bus number 7. Pass just in front of the house and take you to almost everywhere.
The house is quite warm upstairs. We have some great hot weather in UK and the house has not air conditioner.
This place was a terrific choice for my husband, myself and our two teenage daughters. The apartment is spacious-- bedrooms are small-- but the overall feel is not being on top of one another which is often the feeling in hotel rooms. The location is terrific: easy walk to Portobello Road as well as a nice park to run in. Also, the apartment felt very safe and it was nice to be able to do laundry. Overall, we were all very happy and Marina was very organized and helpful. Totally recommend this property!

Well-appointed modern apartment with two bedrooms and two baths right next to a park.
Pros (there are many): Beautifully furnished, clean, nice kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, great baths. The photos are quite accurate. A private and luxurious setting. The wifi was fast and reliable.
Con #1: Main bedroom is a loft, open to the great room/living area below. So if you have a larger group or some people stay up late, the bedroom would be inconvenient.
Con #2: The location is quite suburban, not near pubs, restaurants or grocery shopping. And it's quite far from central London. The good news: a bus line runs right on the street, and it's just a 10 minute ride to an underground station. But it took us one bus ride and two subway rides (and about 40 minutes) to reach Westminster.
Overall, highly recommended. We enjoyed our stay.

Ladbroke Grove tube station (5 min fm house) where both bus and tube lines will take you to any attraction or landmark in the capital being no more than half an hour away by public transport: Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Big Ben, Tower of London, Houses of Parliament and the London Eye.
A 15 minute bus or taxi ride are Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens, Kensington Palace which house Diana’s apartments & The Diana Memorial and Harrod's.
Other Activities: park and playground next door, water feature playground, indoor climbing wall (largest in UK), skateboard park.
