About the property

Two Apartments in excellent central location close to Puerta del Sol

The ideal location for some days stay in the centre of Madrid for enjoying its beautiful historical centre, monuments and museums and its and active day & night life. Its extremely well connected for public transport. Sol station with its three Metro lines and local trains is to 100 meters.

The apartment is located in an historical building with its original facade and balconies but also all the comforts of a modern interior design: lift, individual central heating, air conditioning and WIFI.

The building is a quiet one in spite of its central location as also is the street behind it.

The Duplex pent-house flat is distributed over two floors of 50 square meters each and a roof terrace with garden of 30 square meters. The entrance is on the first floor and opens onto a double-height living room with a fireplace, a fully fitted kitchen and one bathroom. The kitchen is equipped with a cooker, an oven, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine and a microwave. It has a window opening onto an internal patio where a clothes line is located. On the second floor there is one double bedroom with it’s own bathroom and another double bedroom with a dressing area, washbasin and cloakroom. The flat is fitted with wardrobes and shelves that are made to measure.

The open roof terrace and garden is absolutely private. It is accessed by a staircase from the 2nd floor and has spectacular views over the historical skyline of Madrid: Puerta del Sol clock, Gran Vïa, etc.

About Cristina Ruiz

Architect and teacher. The apartment was the former home of the hostess and his partner, who renovated the whole building in 2000. The instalations and services are new: elevator, air conditioned, internet but the old character of the building was preserved: facade, wood structure, main staircase and balconies.

The best of all is its wonderful location in the heart of Madrid, that allows to enjoy its lovely days and nights in the most beatiful environment: monuments, convents and historic buildings conform the traditional streets around. The best place not to miss anything Madrid can offer.

And finally its nice roof terrace with a superb view of the old Madrid district.

The building was an old silversmith's workshop that was renovated to housing apartments in 2000.

What makes this condo unique

The apartment has two advantages. The first one is its wonderful location, less than five minutes walk from Puerta del Sol, but in an old and quiet street, with the taste of traditional architecture of Madrid as balconies and wood windows.

The second advantage is the full renovation of the building. It has all the modern comodities but also its old taste: lift, air conditioned, internet, etc.

Also if something happens in Madrid, it happens here: the cultural and social life, the night life, the events and so on.

Great location in center of Madrid!

We've just returned from our trip to Madrid. This location is PERFECT with access to everything, and incredibly easy for a first time visit as a family.

The LOCATION: The location is as central in Madrid as you can get. It is just a few steps from Puerta del Sol. The apartment is on a small street with minimal car traffic. The busy traffic of Calle Mayor is about 50 meters away. Behind the apartment is Plaza Mayor and is zoned for foot traffic only. This zone is filled with tourists with many places to shop, stop for tapas and cervezas and just to watch the people go by. There are many restaurants (on Calle Arenal) and other plazas (Santa Ana) within 5-10 minutes away from the apartment. Small stores for supplies and snacks are a few doors down. The massive El Corte Ingles department store is a short walk through Puerta del Sol for groceries, toiletries, and anything you need. Museums and the Palace are 15 min walk.

The APARTMENT: The apartment is secure, beautifully designed, and spacious. It is located on the 4th floor accessible by elevator or stairs. It is a 2 story with a roof top terrace with BEAUTIFUL views of the Madrid rooftops. The apartment has exceptional natural lighting in all rooms. It has a well appointed kitchen with new appliances. The living room has balcony doors which open up for fresh air and sunlight with a vaulted ceiling that looks up to the 2nd floor bedrooms. There is a full bath/shower on this floor. The master bedroom with queen bed, has a sink and vanity. A 2nd full bathroom is accessed through the bedroom with single beds. (The stair case spirals up to access the rooftop.) The entire apartment is modern, well lit, and very tastefully decorated by the owners.

Our only regret was that the weather turned cold during our stay and we were not able to take advantage of the terrace.

The HOSTESS: Cristina did a wonderful job of communicating and helping me secure my reservations and fulfill my payments. (I actually visited Madrid a few months prior on business and she met me to show me the apartment.) She was in touch with me the week prior to our trip for final confirmations and was easy to contact by email, text, and phone. She personally met and walked us through the apartment. She was also available for any questions we had during the trip. I could not imagine a better hostess/owner. Thanks to Cristina for making this a perfect stay! We hope to be back in Madrid and to enjoy your incredible hospitality!

We stayed in apartment with our daughter and her husband. There was plenty of room and the rooftop terrace was a great place to sit in the evenings. Very convenient location.

Wonderful apartment in center of Madrid

We really were happy with our stay in Cristina's apartment. The location couldn't be better. Close to everything but quiet. One block to the metro, and close to many good restaurants and shopping. It is furnished simply, but with everything you need. Top quality appliances and comfortable living and sleepy spaces. Even though it was too cold in November to sit up on the roof, I still went up there to enjoy the views. Cristina was also very kind, helping us find a garage to park our car while in Madrid. I hope I can stay here again if I come to Madrid.

best location for touring Madrid

great location and a sweet rooftop terrace to enjoy your morning coffee or an evening cocktail. this is a fine place for 2 couples to share. one bedroom has double bed and the other has 2 twin beds with ensuite. very close to the Metro (under renovation while we were there). we enjoyed walking and most places were close enough to walk. Cristina is a very nice host!

The Metro line 1 was on renovation during your stay, but only it is one of the three from Sol station and there are also the two train lines. Sol stations is over connected!

Amazing location and flat!

Our family of four loved staying here. The rooftop deck, lovely interior, and location right in the middle of it all made our stay in Madrid very enjoyable. You are literally 20 min or less walking from just about anywhere in the old part of the city. We were amazed on our first day to find ourselves in front of the Prado after only a 15 minute walk! Also, Christine and her husband were there to greet us and show us everything about the apartment and give us some insight into Madrid proper. We would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The apartment has three wonderful advantages: 1. its location less than two minutes walk from the Puerta del Sol (Madrid central point); and 2. its modern and comfortable services, because the building was recently renovated. 3. the wonderful roof terrace with a nice view over old Madrid.

The central location -but without the fuss of Puerta del Sol- makes all services to be nearby: the public transport is excellent with three underground lines and Sol railway station (conected with main Atocha and Chamartín stations) ; the airport is less than 40 minutes by train or metro, and Atocha railway station lies less than 10 minutes from Sol underground or railway station.

The shopping area is all around: big malls, shops and small markets.

The Paseo del Arte crosses Esparteros street, so the apartment is quite near the Prado, Reina Sofia and Thyssen Museums and other historical places as Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Palacio de Oriente, Descalzas Reales, etc. These are just a short walk by foot (also by bicycle, because the pedestrian areas include bike lanes).

The cultural life is also around: the Teatro Real (opera & concert hall), the Teatro Español (classic Spanish theater) and many others as Teatro de la Zarzuela, Teatro Apolo and the music-hall in Gran Via. Also the tablaos (flamenco-taverns) as Casa Patas or Cafe de Chinitas or jazz live concerts in the Cafe Central are 10 minutes away walk.

The bars, restaurants and tapas areas are really close: the Santa Ana plaza, Cava Baja, Mercado de San Miguel and the night life with many bar de copas (drink or cocktail bars) & discos (Joy Eslava; etc).

It's highly recommended to use the public transport: besides the tube and trains, there are many bus lines and taxis. If you like cycling, nowadays there are many pedestrian streets and bike-lanes: Mayor and Alcala streets have one. By bicycle you can arrive soon to the big parks: Madrid-Rio, Casa de Campo and the beautiful historic Retiro Park and also gardens as Plaza de Oriente with its Royal Palace. The Paseo del Arte (Art promenade) path can be reached easily. In the nearby there are some shops that rent cycles, and organize bicicle tours for tourist

The guests are welcomed by the hostess the first day, who explains the services and the apartment accomodations. Information and advises can be explained in English, French, German or Italian.

The apartment is located in a old building with only four apartments: one for each level. So it is a quiet one. Neighbours are people whith a familiar life. So loud music and noises are forbidden from 24.00 pm until 8.00 am. Also parties.

It's not allowed to smoke inside the building (apartment or common areas). Only on the exterior balconies or on the terrace.

The guest are welcomed anytime between 9.00 am and 23.00 pm. If arrival will be in another time please ask the hostess in advance.
