Brilliant Stay

  • 5 of 5

A very charming Chalet overall, ideally located (super close to Diable chairlift, which has the best restaurant/bar on the mountain at the top of it..), great en-suite rooms, lovely communal/family area by the fire, great hot-tub and a nicely heated boot room too.

Mark cooked some frankly outstanding grub for us whilst Harvey was always on hand to help and serve. Fab service overall, and exactly what we wanted. A fabulous holiday.Would go back in a flash.

A chalet that fits the description

  • 5 of 5

Mark the host could not of done more to accommodate us the food was the best we've had in 30 years of skiing full cooked breakfast everyday and the three course evening meals were a la carte standard and better. Ideal location 5 mins from lift spacious bedrooms dining and living area. We flew to Grenoble with Easyjet used door to door transfers and ski hire recommended by Dianne all went like clockwork to make a great holiday enjoyed by all children and adults in the group of 13.

A characterful, conveniently located chalet

  • 4 of 5

Chalet Ruby is a characterful, well maintained and very conveniently located chalet a couple of minutes walk from the now excellent Diable lift at the Southern end of town (the nicer end).

There are several nice restaurants, pubs and a Spa around the corner and free parking within a minute.

Diane will look after you extremely well. She and Mark will pretty much cater for your food / dining choices and sort out local contacts and services for you. All together Diane, Mark and Vic will make you feel very comfortable in much the same way as you would if you stayed for a week at a well run country pub / inn in Kent.

Les Deux Alpes is about as snow sure as you will ever get at Easter, we have been twice and if we ski at Easter again we will be calling Diane to book Chalet Ruby.

Add in the proposed new link system for 2018 - over to Auris and Alpes D'Huez and its a winner.

Charming chalet, great location, excellent food.

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Chalet Ruby in the second week of January and could not have have had a better time. The chalet is situated in a quiet street very close to the lifts, shops, restaurants and bars - altogether a great location. The facilities were as exactly as described on the website.

Our hosts, Di,Vic and Mark a professional chef, really made us feel at home. They could not do enough for us and their local knowledge was invaluable in pointing out the best places to ski, eat and drink.

We woke up to the smell of freshly baked croissants and bacon being cooked for the made to order breakfast. After skiiing we were welcomed back to a roaring fire in the relaxing and comfortable living room for tea and delicious freshly made cakes and biscuits. Di and Vic made sure there was always plenty of wine and beer with the evening meals, which were beautifully cooked, using fresh ingredients. The gastronomic four course dinner on the last night rounded off the week perfectly.

The charming and clean bedrooms are extremly comfortable and there was always plenty of hot water. Our party made full use of the hot tub and the luxurious bathrobes!

We will be recommending this great family chalet and Les Deux Alpes to our family and friends.

Les Deux Alpes is a popular ski resort in the French Isere. The village sits at 1,650 m and lifts run to 3,600 m. It has the largest skiable glacier in Europe. It has the longest, full on-piste vertical available in the world.

If you fly into Grenoble airport, you can get a reasonably priced shuttle directly and quickly to your holiday in Les Deux- details upon request.

Chalet Ruby is perfectly located in a tranquil side street off the main Place de Venosc. You have the benefit of a lovely cosy and quiet chalet but within a few minutes you can be enjoying the buzz of the night life of Les Deux Alpes. Hotel Chalet Mounier is opposite Chalet Ruby which has a Michelin rated restaurant and has an indoor swimming pool and spa centre available for use by negotiation.

Skiing facilities are excellent and the nearest ski chair lift is only 200m away where you will find the new six fast chair Le Diable. A bus stop is 20m away (downhill!) to take you to the ski lift. if you don’t fancy a walk.

As well as fabulous skiing facilities, there are many, many other things to keep you busy during your holiday -

Les Deux-Alpes has 6 sledge runs in total in a dedicated area specifically for toboggans next to the Lutins Piste at the bottom of the slopes. There are different runs which are mainly designed for children but adults can have a go on Tuesday and Thursday evenings when the slopes are flood-lit for night skiing.

Those who enjoy speed will love riding a powerful snow-mobile (like a motorbike with caterpillar tracks) over the pistes after dark! Discover the different dimensions of driving; carving turns, accelerating in a straight line, ascents and descents. Either be the driver, or if that doesn't suit then you have the opportunity to be a passenger.

Ice gliding is just like bumper cars on ice, the car is powered by a battery and allows you to bump slide and crash into the other cars on the track. Open on Thursdays from 3pm to 6.30pm and Fridays from 9pm to 11pm

There are a number of walking trails that stay open throughout the winter, allowing you to access the snowy heights of the mountains and sample the high altitude mountain restaurants at your leisure.

Many people would not automatically think of Les Deux Alpes as a place to come shopping, however the resort boasts a diverse range of stores that are guaranteed to suit sporting lifestyles.
