All you need to bring is your clothes and groceries. The HideAway is complete with all the essentials of home. The Perfect Vacation, Honeymoon, or Writer's Retreat -- Wonderful Seclusion, Breathtaking Views of Mountains and Plains, Natural Beauty all around, but easy access to fine shopping, restaurants, art museums, etc -- the Best of Boulder. Be 'Away from It All' but still near civilization (just 12 minutes to town).

The Hideaway Unit 2 is a full apartment located at 6700 feet with stunning scenic views of mountains and plains. Wonderfully appointed, this 1000 square foot, two bedroom space is the perfect scenic spot to work from. It is secluded but an easy drive to Boulder and modest 37 miles drive to central Denver. Cell phone reception is very good for most carriers and an internet hook-up is available.

Eldora Ski Resort is within 20 miles. Boulder is a mere 12 minute drive; the selection of museums, libraries, recreation, shopping, galleries, restaurants, and other cultural activities is virtually endless. CU, NIST, and NCAR are minutes away. Great RECREATIONAL options are nearby: hiking galore, Rocky Mountain National Park, cross-country skiing. Central City and Black Hawk gambling is about 35 minutes drive away.

Laundry Service: Arrangements can be made to have access to the laundry room for stays of 1 week or more if desired.

Lowell and Bonnie, owners/managers, reside on the lower story of the structure. These 'mountain gnomes' are available to help should there may be any problems.

4WD: Four wheel drive or at least all wheel drive is recommended year round and REQUIRED during snowy periods in winter. The ½ mile driveway has some steep sections as well as some rougher sections that some smaller cars might not do well on. The HideAway is at an altitude of 6700 feet. It is also recommended that if at all possible you arrive during daylight hours for your first drive up to the house. These are mountain roads and can get a bit confusing if you are not familiar with them after dark.

The property is at an altitude of 6,700 feet, not usually an altitude problem but for some rare individual it could be. Drink plenty of water. The mountain areas have some inherent dangers, such as rocks to slip or fall on. You may also be treated to the site of an occasional rabbit, raccoon, fox, deer, elk or even a bear or mountain lion. Renters are responsible for their children and others they bring onto the property. If you are not used to the mountains take it easy on your first hikes. Most of all have a great time.

It is a great retreat with wildlife & views. Relax and breathe the fresh mountain air, yet be close enough to the cities to enjoy fine dining and entertainment. The wildlife is remarkable. At times you will see fox, rabbits, deer, elk, a plethora of birds and even an occasional bear or mountain lion. The views are some of the best in the Boulder Foothills. You can see all the way to the plains. Each day shows a spectacular sunrise, which depending on weather conditions is different each day. You will also enjoy viewing the lights down in the plains at night.

Beautiful views, but insect infestation

My son and I rented this apartment as part of a flyfishing trip in the Rockies in mid-October. The setting is spectacular, with sweeping views. We were appalled, however, at the large number of insects throughout the apartment. They looked like grasshoppers or roaches, but I was later told by the property manager that they are "stink bugs" and we'll-known in the area. The insects constantly cam up through sink and shower drains - we literally killed dozens every day and night all over the apartment, including on our pillows while in bed. Though we are outdoorsemen and not usually bothered by bugs, we were too disgusted to use the kitchen for cooking or eating, because we could not use the sink or counters without first killing 3-4 of these "stink bugs". It was obvious this is an ongoing issue, because sink and shower drains had special plastic liners in a futile effort to limit the bugs' ability to get in. When I contacted the property manager I was told "this is normal, nothing can be done about it." I googled "stink bugs" and verified that this is typical, the bugs ca live in the walls during the winter and there is an "infestation" in the fall. How can HomeAway/VRBO advertise such a property without disclosure? I have rented through VRBO many times and this is my first bad experience. I feel cheated.

Owner's Response: Jim, Yes in the fall we can get a few "stink bugs" as they call them . They can sneak in. There are a lot of them outside. This is pretty standard in the mountains above Boulder. It would have been nice if you would have mentioned this to us during your stay, rather than staying the entire time and then asking for your money back. You stayed the entire time without a complaint. Hopefully next time you are in the area you choose an accommodation in the city where they regularly spray insecticides to make sure no insects can live. Probably not the best for humans either. No problem with the stains you left on the carpeting. I was able to clean them up thoroughly.. I will be sure to mention in my listing that Boulder is not totally insect free. You could possibly see a spider or a stink bug at some time of the year. We also might have a honey bee now and then. I do not know about your but I love them. Bonnie

Beautiful and will be back in winter!

From arrival to departure was an experience that I'll remember for a very long time. The place was in tip top condition and Bonnie was very accommodating. But the views are what brought me to this property and it was breathtaking. Plan on seeing them again this winter!

What a pleasure to stay at Nana's house!

We just returned from our stay in Boulder at Nana's property. We had picked this rental (and it was our second vrbo rental we ever used) as we wanted to have space and to be able to leave all your luggage and boxes( in safety) we had with us to move our son at the CU Boulder University. We arrived late and the owner's son was there to greet us and showed us to the entrance of the house . The next morning the owner was nice enough to come and introduce herself and asked us if we needed anything. As per the description and the photos, we had access to the living, kitchen with dining table, 2 bedrooms and the bathroom and the large patio. All we needed was there and we had 5 nights and had dinner and breakfasts a few times in the house when we were not out browsing and shopping in Boulder to prepare for our son's move into his dorm.. We had great views from every room and enjoyed the woodpeckers on the trees in the morning. The owner's dog was friendly and kept bringing his bone to play. Cute puppy. Too bad we did not get to see a fox or an elk or even a bear from far far away!! The weather was outstanding and we had one or two nights of delightful lightning at night. Just perfect for photos. Overall, we had a very nice stay and we will come back when the opportunity comes.

Roomy rental up Boulder canyon

We enjoyed the place, but the drive up the canyon and dirt road was longer than we'd anticipated. The portion of the home for guests could have benefited from a covered/shaded porch, as it was hot this July. The kitchen was adequately stocked and the direct TV was nice.

Couples relaxing mountain retreat

Rise each morning to an amazing sunrise streaming through your windows... This fantastic mountain retreat is nestled away along the mountain side and offers relaxation, privacy and comfort all in one. The view is absolutely breathtaking! You can walk outside the front door and go for a hike. Bonnie is very welcoming and accommodating.

If you enjoy the outdoors, the foothills above Boulder is a great place to stay. Hiking, mountain biking, snowshoing, rock climbing or just sitting quietly and enjoying the wildlife are just a few of the activities you will enjoy here. Boulder Falls is just up the canyon a few miles, fed by mountain snow melt from North Boulder Creek, it is a spectacular site to see. Boulder's Farmers Market open every Saturday and Wednesday during the summer is a great place to brouse for the freshest in foods and also great crafts. Chautauqua Park with its auditorium and community house offers great entertainment as well as educational programs, not to speak of there fine dining and hiking trails. The quaint town of Nederland is 15 minute drive from the Hideaway. It has great little shops, restaraunts and a unique culture all its own. You will want to be sure to take Peak to Peak Highway to Estes Park and of course while you are there visit the Rocky Mountain National Park. Black Hawk and Central City are also popular attractions with the Opera House and gambling. These are just a few of the attractions in the area.
