This townhouse complex has had a complete facelift. All siding, windows, sliders, and roofs are new. The unit is kept spotless and has a recent paint job and hardwood floors. Sliders open to a large deck with a spectacular view of pond, bridge and fountain. The master bed has a Queen. The second bed has one full and a set of twin bunks. The beach is only one block away, but amenities offer a choice of pool, tennis or recreation room. Downtown is a short walk and offers amusements, shopping, dining and more.
This townhouse was recently decorated by my wife and I. We felt that we should take it to a level that we would enjoy if we lived there year round. It has a beach theme and is very tastefully done.
There is a supply of reading material if you forget your book for the beach.
The amenities are quite nice as well. The pool is gated and the gym has been updated. Our unit is in a very quiet area.
We bought this property after we were married here at Old Orchard. We live in the Boston area, but quickly fell in love with the beach and all that is offered here. We love to go downtown for the excitement or just relaxing back at the deck or poolside.
The sandy beach changes every time we come back. It's a great place to be still or walk for miles. We have spent many summers up here before we met and married, and now as a couple
Michael Jerome purchased this townhome in 2002
This property is uniquely set in a peaceful setting that is close to downtown (less than a mile) and very close to the beach (three hundred paces).
the entire complex was recently renovated with new windows, doors, sliders, siding, and decks. The pool was finished just this spring.
Ocean Park Meadows was built right up against the neighborhood that my wife summered as a child.
I have not found anything like it in old orchard beach. The walking paths and walking bridges have water features. I love the lily pads and fountains that connect the different areas within the complex.
We had a wonderful stay in this condo. The community has a nice pool, tennis court and common building (with a large table for group gatherings, sauna, kitchen, etc). It is quiet and you can truly take in the sounds of nature during your stay!
About the condo itself: It's an upstairs unit so keep that in mind when deciding. The description told us it was 'steps' to the beach. What we heard was maybe a few steps, what the reality was more like 300 steps. It was about a 3/4 mile to a mile walk to the pier. Not a huge deal to us, but just know this for expectation setting. Elderly or people with small kids might be challenged with the stairs and all the walking. We enjoyed the walks with the kids several nights to the pier and enjoyed a smaller, family owned restaurant about half way there. I have to say it was the best meal we had all week (the name escapes me). I felt like I was stepping back in time while eating there.
Also something to note is that there is a train that runs through the town of OOB and the tracks are right behind the community. It was loud and came through often day & night. With a few fans running - it muffled out the sound but there were a few times where the kids were woken because of it. I can't imagine that there are many places to stay in OOB where you wouldn't hear the train!
Mike (the owner) was great to work with. He did everything he said he would do and took a lot of pride in his home - which made you want to do the same.
Even given some of the things that I mentioned above, I would highly recommend renting this property. It's clean, convenient and overall just a happy place! My little family had a great week!
