This wonderful apartment in restored historic palazzo (complete with frescos!) is a wonderful place to use as a base to explore all the sites of beautiful Verona. As other reviews say, it's 5 minutes or less to all the top sites: Piazza Bra, L'Arena, Piazza Erbe, Juliet's house, etc. Marco and his family were the perfect hosts, attending to everything we needed and promptly addressing a few problems to make the stay just great! Grazie mille per tutti! My husband and I spent a wonderful month - the apartment had everything for a comfortable long-term stay, but it would also be perfect for a short visit, too. Can not recommend this place highly enough - it's a special little spot!!!
Entering this amazing apartment into a majestic courtyard was impressive, and the apartment was awesome! My first words were "I could live here!" Beautiful solid wood floors, kitchen, eating area, private bedroom and nice washroom. Beautiful decor and frescos... you could tell that this place was arranged with love and care. Beautiful antique furniture pieces and art even. Absolutely lovely. The owner even left some water in the fridge and a few items in the cupboard, like coffee, sugar, oils, noodles... very thoughtful!
My only beef -- and it's a big one - is the washing machine. Despite the fact detailed steps were left in english, the steps were still confusing and when I followed them carefully, the machine was silent. I tried over and over and over... had trouble with the spin cycle (which they call centrifugal). When I followed the instructions after my wash cycle was done (put it on F and hit start again), nothing happened. Silence. I tried at least 10 times. Finally it did start, after we spent over an hour of our precious time to get it going. I sought help, but really didn't get it (other than to be told to follow the instructions.) That was extremely frustrating. After the spin cycle the clothes smelled damp and were still quite wet. It took two days to get them wearable. Being the end of our 10 day vacation, we really needed fresh clothes.
The only other suggestion I would make, is to leave instructions that the hot water tank has a power switch above the kitchen sink. My first shower was a cold one until I investigated the water heater and guessed the switch might be the issue. This is not something north american people are familiar with.
I would DEFINATELY stay in this apartment again and recommend it, but need to figure that washing machine out. Otherwise, thank you thank you for such a beautiful spot.
Pros: Well equipped; very close to arena (at the end of the street) and centre of Verona; living area tastefully decorated with lovely floors and frescos. Owner very helpful prior to stay.
Cons: Bathroom not great and shower cubicle needs upgrading; ceiling fan in bedroom very noisy; although not a busy street, acoustics meant that noise from passing vehicles (scooters in particular) was very loud when bedroom window was open to let in air and natural light.
Verona is a beautiful city to experience and the location of this apartment brings you near to most of the important sights - especially the Arena and Piazza delle Erbe, which are about 5 minutes walk away. We walked everywhere. Access from the airport via the Aerobus and local services is very good, the stop at San Fermo is just around the corner from the apartment.
The building and apartment are charming, well maintained, nicely decorated, clean with up to date facilities - well described in the website. All we needed was provided, and there were nice touches such as some staples in case we arrived late, cushions (essential!) for those who wish to visit the Opera. Before we left the UK, the owner provided a summary sheet of location, buses, parking as well as essential instructions for devices like the washing machine - in English!
The single minor glitch while we were there was rapidly dealt with by the owner, who made himself available at all times by mobile phone.
Nearby restaurants are in abundance - as well as some pizza-type and local cafe/bars at the each end of the road. We would highlight the nearby Osteria Antica and Osteria Monte Baldo, which offer some Veronese food.
There is a small supermarket nearby for obtaining staples, water in bulk etc. but don't expect the product range you would get in UK. Bigger supermarket PAM was closed for refurbishment. Small shops nearby for bread, etc.
Overall we had a great time. We'd recommend this apartment - especially for a couple.
Perfect from the start. Everything you need and very clean. LEDs was there to greet us right on time and was so friendly. Very near the Arena and easy walk to the entire historic town. Will definitely stay on our next visit
