We absolutely love this place. Beautiful views from both the deck and the house. Comfortable ‘up north’ home. This place suits those who want to get away from chaos of everyday life but it also is very close to town and many activities for those who seek adventure. We enjoyed endless beach walks, s’mores at our private camp fire on the beach and of course magnificent sun sets. We have been visiting this 'home away from home' for over 11 years and love it more every time we come. Owners are wonderful people and ‘Basket of goodies’ makes you feel welcomed the moment you set your foot in the house. We cannot wait to be back next year.
If you are looking for a perfect location, this is it--located right on Lake Michigan with a private, pristine beach and shoreline. We absolutely love the view from the deck. We have stayed here several times and the house is spotless. We take our day trips to Petoskey, Harbor Springs, Mackinaw, Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes, wineries, etc. from here--all doable within a day from this location. We always take our little doggie with us and we find that northern Michigan is very dog friendly in allowing dogs to shop with us and sitting outdoors at restaurants. We really enjoyed our firepit fires every evening, as we watched the perfect sunset! Thanks, Karey!
This was our second visit to this cottage and once again we were not disappointed. The best part about a repeat visit is the feeling of going home. We knew exactly what to expect. We chose this cottage a second time because it met our needs and desires perfectly the first time. The house is very well maintained is very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with everything needed for a week's stay. The decks are a wonderful way to start the day and watch the world wake up along the water. And an even better way to end the day watching beautiful sunsets. The shoreline is perfect for avid rock hunters. There's enough beach to satisfy our children and those of us who enjoy lounging in the sand with a book. The cottage is secluded enough to really feel like you're away, but the neighbors we met while there were warm and welcoming. Driving into town is very easy and quick too.
The amenities are a nice addition and in well working order. Although we couldn't figure out how to work the TV/satellite service. But that was a blessing in that we could all spend our nights reading or playing games. We did watch a movie one night from the DVD player.
We had a great drive over to Sleeping Bear dunes one day and enjoyed some time in Leland. Most of our trip this year we wanted to dedicate to art fairs and galleries. We spent time in Charlevoix, Petoskey and Harbor Springs. We always enjoy eating at the Village Pub in Charlevoix. We also went to Kelsey's one night. We got ice cream at Kilwins, which is always good.
We're hoping for another visit next year. The homeowners are wonderful to work with and really provide a top-rate vacation destination. We have been very happy and more than satisfied with our experience at this cottage and in that location. We recommend to our family and friends.
We loved this house. It was perfect. The deck was fantastic and gave us the best sunsets every single night. The screened in porch was ideal once those bugs came out. The small cove that you had access too was perfect for launching kayaks and canoes and the neighbors seemed friendly where they didn't mind if we were swimming in that area too. We would definitely recommend this place to everyone and stay here again ourselves!
This cozy house is so peaceful! We had bonfires on the beach every morning and night. Lots of wildlife. Very quite and private. The house was very clean and had anything you could need. I can't wait to go back!
The rental was clean and comfortable with minor adjustment to some of the cabin beds. The view from the house, screened in porch, and deck was lovely. Quiet and peaceful setting. We were a little disappointed
in the beach. It would be quite a walk for toddlers and there wasn't much sand. The water was murky with the rest of the shore being very rocky and slippery. However, we have heard that the great lakes can be murky this time of year. We noticed the same in other coves along the shore.
#1 Destination in 2014 named by 'Lonely Planet!' Yes--it's true! Lonely Planet (worldwide travel guide) has named Lake Michigan's Gold Coast 'perhaps the USA's most unexpected beach getaway. Some argue that these shores rival Hawaii's and Southern California's. Along 300 miles of seemingly endless beaches lie sugar-white dunes, wineries, antiquing, U-pick orchards and berry farms, cider houses, Hemingway haunts--you can even go surfing!'
This home is in a special, quiet neighborhood with a west-facing beach--unbelievable sunsets!!-- surrounded by pristine state land. Off your deck stroll miles of undeveloped Lake Michigan shoreline, enjoy birdwatching, and other native wildlife, swim and search for Petoskey stones. Outdoor activities abound in this popular vacation area. Enjoy hiking in Fisherman's Island State Park. Play golf in this highly rated area--over 40 championship courses within 30 miles.
Excellent public beaches along Lake Michigan and Lake Charlevoix are within a short drive.
