About the property

3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, 3 toilets, 5 minute walk to beach

Casa Caravela (150m2) is a very charming split level villa located on the hillside close to beach and centre. Located on a quiet cul-de-sac and privately gated. Enjoy sunsets from the elevated terrace and walk to the beach and restaurants.

The villa is tastefully furnished and has ample poolside and terrace furniture. It is surrounded by a private driveway and a luscious tropical garden with a perfectly manicured lawn and gently swaying palm trees.

Each of the three spacious double bedrooms on the lower floor - hence naturally cool - has direct access to the secluded (not heated) private pool (4 by 8 metres and up to 1.80 metres deep). The master bedroom contains an en-suite bathroom with bath, separate shower and toilet. The second bathroom, a separate toilet and built-in closets are also located on this floor.

Upstairs there is a large fully fitted kitchen separated from the open plan ocean view lounge & dining room which contains a fireplace, marble floor and adjacent spacious terraces overlooking the sea. A third toilet and the cloakroom are located on this floor as well.

There are three terraces in total: one at pool and garden level with built-in BBQ, the other larger terrace overlooking the pool with stunning views of the sea is ideal for sunbathing and al fresco dining and the third a cozy one next to the dining area for relaxing on the windy days. Behind the villa there is a spacious back garden and parking space.

Salema's wide sandy Blue Flag beach offers safe bathing where beach loungers with umbrellas and cabanas can be hired and a massage can be enjoyed. In the village there are small supermarkets and there are several fantastic local restaurants and bars within walking distance of the villa.

The villa benefits from having a peaceful location within a small fishing village with a beautiful wide sandy beach 'Praia da Salema' and restaurants within walking distance. It is only a 5 minute drive to the golf, tennis and SPA complex Parque da Floresta. This region of southern Portugal boasts unrivalled opportunities for holidays in the spring, summer, autumn and winter, which can be as active or relaxing as you wish. Imagine sun filled days and balmy evenings, activities and entertainment, uncrowded Algarve beaches, contrasting landscapes, history, culture, great food and wine. The Western Algarve is under one hour’s drive by motorway from Faro International Airport, but it could be a world apart. From the gentle and secluded coves around Salema to the remote wild shores of the west coast pounded by the full force of the Atlantic and a surfer’s paradise, this is like no other part of Portugal.

Brilliant peaceful beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

The property is stunning the photos don't do it justice. The view from the balcony and lounge is like a sea view painting. I couldn't fault the place, there was nothing that it didn't have. The walk down the hill from the villa is fine, going back up tho pulled on your calves 😀 there are a handful of local restaurants with very good food. The two little bars were friendly and intimate. I don't want this place to change and don't want others to know about it so it stays peaceful, beautiful and chilled for our return.

This place works magic!

  • 5 of 5

A superb location for a wonderful holiday to relax the mind and provide something for the all the family. Accommodation is exceptionally spacious and comfortable, the whole family can enjoy the facilities and have fun or find a quiet spot for relaxation. A very comfortable and well equipped home which is well maintained and clean. The views have got to be some of the best on the Algarve from many aspects of the villa. Salema has a glorious beach and fantastic local restaurants and is only a short walk away (be aware it is uphill on way home though!)

The three bedrooms all provide independent access to pool and views of the sea. Living accommodation is airy and light with a superb balcony on which to enjoy group eating. Outdoor furniture is plentiful and comfortable in all areas. The property feels like home from the minute you arrive, but is also a holiday property to dream of. Pool and gardens are carefully looked after and, like the property, extremely spacious with good access. Although a car is recommended to reach the area, it is not essential for a stay here and you may well not want to leave once you arrive. For people who do want further activity the roads are easy to drive and golf, surfing, shopping, restaurants, walking etc are all easy to access in this amazing part of the world.

Verrassende villa door de verschillende terrassen met fantastisch uitzicht overal. Op loopafstand van het gezellige en nog redelijk authentieke Salema en mooie strand.

Vila do Bispo’s beautifully Salema beach has been named the 15th best in the world by British newspaper The Guardian (16/02/2016). Famous for boasting a rare set of dinosaur footprints, Salema was the only Portuguese beach to make the top-50 list.

“In the far west of the Algarve, the fishing village of Salema has somehow escaped the large-scale development that blights much of Portugal’s southern coast,” the paper writes. “Fishermen tend their nets on the sandy Blue Flag-certified beach, and dinosaur footprints can be found preserved in the limestone rocks. The gentle waves are perfect for a spot of boogie boarding under the watchful eye of the lifeguards on duty in summer. There are sun loungers with umbrellas and cabanas for hire, toilets and showers, and a good choice of restaurants and cafés."
